  1. Good to hear. I'm glad he's returning. But the team won't be the same at all next year. We lost so much of our great roster.
  2. Marlins fried the Cubbies last night, 9-1. Dontrelle's record moves up to 11-2. If he doesn't start the All-Star game, I'm gonna be so pissed off. Altough, Pedro is having a hell of a season also. Dontrelle went 2-3 with an RBI. The Marlins just blew the Cubs out of the water at Wrigley. We've got Beckett on the mound tonight and hopefully he'll be able to do the same thing Willis did.
  3. I shouldn't have said "Lots of the Marlins players have been unphappy with Jack." I really should've said that Jack has been making some players angry, but it's nothing serious. I'm not retracting my comment, but there's been a rumor going around South Florida and on MarlinBaseball.com that is saying that Jack is pissing off players left and right and I'm not sure why I bought into it, because most rumor's around Miami are false, especially negative rumors. All in all, Jack is doing so/so. I'm not upset with him, but I'm not overjoyed with him either.
  4. Only a great franchise like the Rockies could pull this one off...
  5. Cubs/Marlins series coming up in Chi-Town tomorrow. The Fish return to Wrigley. 2 night games and a day game. I like Florida's chances. Here's the pitching matchups. Dontrelle Willis, LHP (10-2, 2.13) @ John Koronka, LHP (1-1, 5.73) Josh Beckett, RHP (7-4, 3.13) @ Sergio Mitre, RHP (1-1, 4.88) A.J. Burnett, RHP (3-4, 3.09) @ Greg Maddux, RHP (5-3, 4.11)
  6. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) ss beat me to it. how could we not be nice to a marlins fan? you guys saved chicago. Haha, that we did...I guess. I see you go to school at the U of I. That's pretty sweet. I live in Clinton, which is like an hour and a half drive from Champaign. And you're an Illini fan. Awesome. Came so close to the National title this year. I'm looking forward to the Ron Zook era in football. I think we can make a bowl game this year. I really do.
  7. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) Welcome to soxtalk! Glad to see a Marlin fan here. The Marlins are easily one of the best teams in the NL. Two World Series in less than a decade!? Wow. Not to mention that you guys are very underrated. Welcome once again. Maybe we're one of the best in the NL. We've went 5-9 in our last 14 games. Not very good. Plus, we're in the most competitive division in baseball, with every team in the NL East above .500.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) So, how many championships do you guys have to win before they build you a new stadium? I mean, you win a second one and they name the place after the football franchise. Haha, so true. I'm pretty pissed at the franchise right now. We're about $45 mil short for the funding for a new ballpark. The plan for a new ballpark is looking dismal right now. Thanks in part to Wayne Huisenga, the Dolphins owner, who hasn't helped at all. The state of Florida has also turned down 4 bills that have been brought to state congress. Right now it's looking like they're just going to put a retractable roof on Dolphins Stadium. This would be a "good" deal for the Marlins because they would get use of DS rent free until like 2011. (I think that's the year) I don't like that deal, because the Marlins should be playing in a ballpark, not a football stadium. It could be worse, though, the Fish could be playing in a dump like RFK, McAfee Colliseum, or the old Vet. I still don't like Dolphins Stadium for a ballpark, but I'm staying optimistic for a new ballpark. If all else fails, I say we rent out U.S. Cellular Field for every day that the Sox don't have a home game, lol. Hell, we did it last year when we had problems with the Hurricanes. :headshake
  9. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Welcome to the board! Thanks! It's good to see the boards are nice here to non-Sox fans. I wasn't sure because at MarlinsBaseball.com we're not as gracious to Mutt fans.
  10. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 7, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Guess we ditched this idea quickly. Yeah that stinks. This was a good idea. We don't have it over at Marlinbaseball.com forums.
  11. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Welcome to the board Thanks!
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) What a treat. We scheduled this Boy Scout trip to Houston a long time ago. It turned out to be Scout night so we got cheap tickets and the pitching match ups changed and Clemens was pitching. Nice to see Scott Schoenweis drop in to offer up a couple base runners and lose the game. I felt so bad for Roger. Gives up 1 run, leaves with a 3-1 lead and "Lights Out" wasn't. The "stros won in the bottom of the 9th with a 3 run walk off HR. I have to ask. I just did not like the stadium. All the services, the concession areas, etc. were very nice. But the weird slope in center field including a flag pole that is in play, the giant glass wall, etc. just seem so weird and unnatural to me. It is probably the worse layout of any stadium I've been to. Everything else, from the parking to the concessions were great, but the inside design and layout drove me crazy. Minute Maid Park is a pretty strange ballpark. The massive hill in deep center is weird. Something that I don't like is how shallow the left field wall is. It's only 315ft. Other than that tho, it's a beautiful ballpark.
  13. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Someone will always be willing to pay to watch him fight... I agree. Tyson said he was going to retire soon. That's doubtful. He's going to realize that he needs money and yeeh people will pay to see him fight. Why? I have no clue. But, I'm very doubtful of this being the end of Tyson's rocky boxing career.
  14. Lots of the Marlins players have been unhappy with Jack. His job is safe, though. Marlins owner, Jefferey Loria and GM Larry Beinfest stated that in a meeting. I don't really want Jack to go, but the Marlins hitting coach, Bill Robinson needs to be on the next train to Canada or some place that isn't Miami.
