  1. Will always love the 83 throwbacks, but would like to see some more variety as well. The sleeveless home unis are great, too. How about the 59 unis with black pinstripes, the Sox logo in black with red outlines/hi-lights...that would be a good one on Sundays as well.
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 04:27 PM) I think the most realistic trade with the Sox and Brewers is a Braun salary dump by the Brewers to clear some payroll space for Darvish. Maybe something like Braun and Hiura or Diaz for Beck and Danish. I agree with this take; the most likely scenario is the Sox take on Braun's loaded contract in order to obtain some quality prospects. Might even be a 3 team deal to get that done...
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Oh yeah, as long as Jones can stay healthy he will have great value. IMHO, if Jones can succeed as a Closer in the second half, he's as good as gone next winter and for a nice haul. There would be no shortage of teams ringing Hahn's phone for a cheap Closer with four years of control left. Jones rumors would be a hot topic at the winter meetings. The only caveat being that I don't think an established, contending team would be willing to pony up multiple prospects for an unproven closer, or at least one that is still 'green behind the ears', so to speak. To be honest, Jones will still have tons of surplus value thanks to his insanely cheap contract, and might actually bring in more of a trade return as an established, nasty set-up guy than a fledgling closer. Time is on our side is the point, don't rush a deal just to make a deal.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) I am sure their price was based on 2015 Robertson and not 2016. The Nationals were probably bidding as if he was 2016 Robertson. The fact the White Sox didn't come down in price is probably where the idea that they didn't want to trade him comes from. They probably didn't want to get rid of him at a reduced price. Exactly. It's all 'in between the lines' language...
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) Maybe Rizzo wasn't offering enough to peak Hahn's interest? Maybe Hahn thanks he will get more for Robertson in June/July. Robertson usually gets off to a strong start so Hahn could be banking on that. My guess is Sox wouldn't send any or at least enough cash along with Drob to acquire the young prospect(s) they want. We'll see how that progresses as the 1st half unwraps and the Nats see how their internal options are doing...
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 12:03 PM) Some other things to be considered when talking about the catcher position. 1) Rodon's slider 2) Giolito's curve ball 3) Lopez' late moving FB and his curve ball. 4) Fulmer's curve ball 5) Q's curve ball 6) Robertson's curve ball 7) Jones, period. Movement on everything. Yep, I'm thinking defense first at the catcher position. All great points...give me a glove first and the bat can come around later.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) Heyman has article out today where a Nats source said WSox never acted like they wanted to really get rid of Robertson Pure posturing. Of course Sox want to deal Drob, it's a no brainer.
  8. So a banner with a bunch of young guns who might or might not live up to the hype? Pass...
  9. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 06:33 PM) Then you must have also read that he wants to finish spring training at 248. As one of Avi's strongest supporters I am pretty sure I had a post suggesting he lose some weight so I'm glad the Sox and him came to the same conclusion. Doesn't he have a history of coming in lighter? Sure hasn't made much of a difference before...still the same bad swing, and being lighter won't help him take better routes to fly balls...
  10. I see this change as much ado about nothing. It really shouldn't rankle fans too much that they won't have the chance to see a hitter knock one in off an IBB (Miggy in 2006? Happens around once a decade?).
  11. Not a chance in friggin hell. Swisher sucks--actually, he's worse than that--and he bad mouthed the SOx after he hit .220 and got benched.
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 10:10 PM) I have to question the sources of these proported complaints. Why exactly? Because a handful of players said they didn't see any issues? VIrtually every media source in Chicago, and most outside of it, are reporting the same thing. Kenny botched the handling of it, but there is no way asking Laroche to dial it back was unreasonable.
  13. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) Avila and Navarro both said they have no idea why anyone would have a problem with Drake and they didn't think any of the players said anything. Looks like that's now 4 players that don't believe it was any player and just KW leaking to the media that it's was the players, coaches, and or the owners. This just isn't true; multiple media sources have said there were several complaints? You can't just ignore that
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 19, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Whatever the heck his dad does? HE can go work at dad's meat packing plant.
