  1. One might argue the roster wasn't that great but Ricky did a fine job with what he had. Sox kind of deserve what's happening after what they did to RR and Bennetti too. Bad karma.
  2. In the mlb.com team meeting story it had a blurb on Eloy coming back from injury. This proves our training staff may be overmatched. Why isn't Eloy getting advice on this. This comment makes it sound like he doesn't know what to do. A real test of Jiménez’s recovery could come from running the bases at full tilt. Jiménez couldn’t provide a definitive answer on how he would approach those situations, even feeling good and close to 100 percent. “I don’t like to say that I’m not going to do it, because at the end of the day, I try to hustle, I try to play hard every single day,” Jiménez said. “To me, saying I’m going to take it easy, did I really want to take it easy, or did I really want to keep hustling and keep pushing? Right now, I don’t have a concrete answer to that question.” https://www.mlb.com/news/eloy-jimenez-activated-from-white-sox-injured-list
  3. I wonder if Burger's worst enemy is the offseason. He's off to a slow start after a good season last year. 34 homers and 80 rbi isn't bad even for modern lift and pull era.
  4. I know $$ is so vital to Stoney and most all people, but how can he last the season? He's seen so much baseball in his life it has to be pretty tough to provide commentary on these meaningless games. I'd think Stoney would go the way of Hawk and resign and count on a summer of golf, not watching bad baseball. Stoney is 77 in July. Why would he waste precious time in the booth for this team?
  5. Broken record here. I do not know baseball anymore. But even I knew in late January when most all of the transactions were complete that this lineup had no chance. Why didn't Jerry and Getz panic at that point and figure something out offensively?? I mean I guess our lineup with Eloy and Robert available has a chance on a 'given night' to score 5-8 runs, but even with them I knew we were doomed offensively. Without those two, I can't see it getting better run wise. Because a majority of our hitters are incapable of even hitting .250. I guess conceivably Vaughn, Eloy and Sheets could get hot and Beni could turn into an OBP machine but, nah. With all these no name pitchers and clueless hitters, the Sox gots no chance on 9 of 10 nights.
  6. We don't even have any proven players to take over a team meeting. If Jose Abreu was here he could ask: "All due respect to my teammates and you coaches, do you think we're stupid? We're not capable of better than 2-14 with this roster of nice guys, but baseball bums." What's Vaughn or Sheets going to speak with their sub-human batting averages? Or Cease? Wait, he got traded. DeJong or Nicky could get up and say: "Let's be honest. I'm just happy to be here helping out our new defensive juggernaut. You got me for defense; I'll show u some defense while hitting .150. Peace out."
  7. Hey the Marlins are 3-14. Maybe they'd ship us back Jake Burger for a few minor league pitchers. They're going nowhere and we need Jake back!
  8. I see Jake the Snake is not having a good year yet. He does have 3 homers and 15 RBI which would help our lineup. Not getting on base or hitting for average, though.
  9. Tommy Pham, little does he know, he's gonna be THE fan favorite. He's our only hitter (cept for mabe Vaughn and Sheets) who can possibly hit a HR. Pham is gonna take over the South Side. Get him a Spam commercial ASAP.
  10. KC can thank Chicago for its nice record, its nice start. How many years have the Sox kickstarted KC's season? That 4-0 sweep was insanity. It showed how far the Sox are from other teams. I mean the Royals won all 4 and didn't need to sweat at all. And excited a fanbase in KC thinking the Royals are good. I expect more of the same in Chicago however if the Sox are going to win 30 games this season they might bag a few wins over hapless KC.
  11. Good post Caulfield. Though Pham is ancient (at least according to this board when I was upset we were giving up on Abreu; they are about the same age) and though if you study his stats he's not been a beast (career high 23 HR; 70 something RBI) he does pass the eye test (unless he's gotten fat) and people have heard of him. In other words, he's a legitimate big leaguer, albeit an old one. My guess is the Sox rightfully so are truly panicking that with this lineup we might only win 10-20 games. Seriously. At some point you have to add somebody with a decent MLB background (I realize some of the stiffs in our everyday order also have been in the bigs for an extended period of time, but they are so bad they are laughable). Pham is not a total joke. So I say sign him and give him the clubhouse to lead (lol, but yeah, lead). Comments? Need I say: Pham is the man.
  12. Thanks i worship minnie in a non religious kinda way. Also Luis Aparicio and the late Gary Peters.
  13. I can't explain it either but I feel as you do. This can't be healthy. I prolly need to divorce myself completely from the team. I won't watch it but I still follow the box scores and highlights.
  14. Remember that year I got in vicious arguments on here because I wanted the Sox to win games in September and not lose to get a better draft pick? Even stubborn individuals like me have a breaking point. I hope we lose every game the rest of the season. We're already out of playoff contention and have a roster of old stiffs and young bless their hearts but can't play baseball and a front office of uncaring buffoons. So yes I 'finally' want us to lose even knowing we get no better than the 10th pick. I care not about the draft still.
