Bruce Levine tweeted 6 minutes ago that interest was heating up, same old teams, same old names, and predicted a trade before the start of spring training.

A trade before the start of spring training. That's going out on a limb. Thanks Bruce.

Well no one has added his article so here.

Trade rumors have been swirling around White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana since early December. Now, the latest intelligence on the trade market is that several teams have made more significant offers in the last week with hope of acquiring Quintana as the White Sox continue on their rebuilding path.

Although the White Sox aren’t putting a deadline on dealing their best pitcher, sources indicate that clubs have stepped up offers recently and a deal could get done soon. The perception that it’s a three-team race for Quintana doesn’t tell the full story. The Astros, Yankees and Pirates have been most often mentioned in the Quintana derby, but many teams are interested in him, given his resume.

Aside from that blurb it's all stuff we've heard said before including Q's background and contract, that "insider" bit is the new part.

I have really developed a love of the Braves position player prospects and the idea of getting two, perhaps even three, of them is something that (I hope) will take at least the inclusion of Meadows from the Pirates or Torres from the Yankees to beat.

Which prospects are you referring to? I'm assuming Albies & Acura, but who else?

I have compared the stats of the top prospects from all the mentioned teams, and IMO the best numbers belong to the Cubs' prospects. Unfortunately. Just numbers, obviously, since I haven't seen them play.

Ha, people thinking they can escape this thread and then bam! Nope! It has us gripped.

Matian, hopefully. I know a lot of people don't want him because he's young and not due to come to the bigs till 2020 but anytime you can maybe get a guy that's draws comparison to Miggy is a guy you target no matter when his eta is. And who knows he could develope faster than anticipated, but if we trade with Braves he is definitely someone I want back as part of the package.

I'm with you oldsox. I really like the bats of Happ, Jimenez and Candelario. Also like that Happ and Candelario are switch hitters.

An admittedly crazy thought crossed my mind after reading that several teams may now have upped their offers. If Hahn really likes these supposedly increased Offers, perhaps he might consider dealing Q to one team and Rodon to another.

That might really move the timetable for the rebuild forward. We give up half of our remaining rotation, but that could be a major haul of prospects, one like we have never seen before in such a short time period.

OK, I know I have really lost my mind now, so back to watching football.

I see absolutely no reason to move Rodon right now. They'd be selling low on him. Even a year from now might be a more appropriate time to move him if he has a nice season in 2017. I think 2019 or 2020 is a more likely time to trade him if the Sox are going to do so.

Eventually he may exceed it, but Rodon today isn't worth close to the prospect haul that Q is so not sure the Q runner-up would bite. And a lefty TOR pitcher is something we really don't have for our winning rebuild years so Rodon prob worth more to Sox than other contending teams.

Moving Rodon now makes ZERO sense unless the offers are more for him than Q (and the odds of that are what?)...but he's one really solid season away from his value skyrocketing.

Obviously, he could go town with TJS as well, but the only reason this even gets mentioned at all is because of Boras and the fact we know that Carlos is incredibly UNLIKELY to sign an extension into his FA years.

Hopefully "sweetening the offers" doesnt mean the Astros are now ok making that Martes, Tucker, Musgrove trade.

We don't know if there was any truth to that rumor

Martes, musgrove and tucker would be a very solid haul. Musgrove was a top fifty prospect prior to getting called up and could be a really good mid rotation starter.
