New Fansided articles ranking the 2017 pre season top 125 mlb prospects seems to really love the White Sox

#1 Yoan Moncada

#10 Reynaldo Lopez

#12 Lucas Giolito

#22 Michael Kopech

#60 Zack Collins

#76 Zack Burdi

#113 Alec Hansen

#115 Carson Fulmer

Also noteworthy:

#19 Kyle Tucker - Tucker moves into the top 20 prospects. He's young for his level, but the power has not materialized as of yet.

#17 Austin Meadows - Meadows slips out of the top 15, partially due to injury concerns. Still a very good prospect when healthy.

#14 Tyler Glasnow - Holds steady

#11 Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - He rockets up into the top 15

#8 Yadier Alvarez - Rockets up into the top 10

#6 Eloy Jimenez - Into the top 10

#47 Francis Martes - Some felt his changeup regressed in 2016 and feel he will be a future reliever

#44 Ronald Acuna - rockets into the top 50

#34 Clint Frazier - Slips due to AAA callup struggles

#26 Mitch Keller - Rockets into the top 30. Excellent control, will be turned loose in 2017

Initial thoughts:

1 - Moncada is gonna be fun

2 - Lopez and Giolito alone is one hell of a get for Eaton, let alone adding Dunning to it

3 - Kopech has got mad helium

4 - Collins is our best shot at getting a franchise catcher

5 - Wow, they love Zack Burdi.

6 - Alec Hansen shoutout!

7 - Carson Fulmer needs to get his groove back

Agree on all points

I'm a bit surprised to see them so high on Lopez, but that's amazing

Posted this in FutureSox forum, but it's relevant here as well I feel due to the number of Sox prospects on the list, and trade discussions

Thanks for posting this and especially for listing key prospects and their rankings. Sucks the articles are on a site like that though, I can't stand the sites that make you click page anfter page to get their advert hits. Thankfully the OP posted the important names and I didn't have to pay!At the ad clicky game.

Interesting how Meadows and Glasnow exit the top ten. Looking forward to when MLB pipeline updates their top 100 and co made it to Fansided's list.

I thought the note about Burdi is quite interesting.

Nick Hostetler said differently when talking to a blogger from Soxtalk. I wondered if Brass has reversed coarse on him.

I tried to open the article in two different browsers, and see no list. Just a few grafs of intro for numbers 76-100.

What did they say about Burdi?

What did they say about Burdi?

I would typically not have a reliever this high, but then I got word from a few folks that the White Sox intended to stretch out Burdi now that they’re going into rebuild mode as their quick advancement of him as a reliever was to help what they had hoped to be a competitive big league club. If Burdi is going back to the rotation and working on his high end change along with the high-velo fastball and solid power breaking pitch, he could have a very high ceiling as a starter. If he is used as a reliever, he could be very productive in the majors in 2017. As a starter, he’ll likely be sitting in the minors another year or two, but that could provide much more value to the White Sox in general, and the team has done the same with Chris Sale in the past, starting him as a reliever and working him back to a starter.

Hostetlers interview with Merkin (or garfein?) after the trade was pretty definitive saying he's staying in relief.

As have other interviews, including our own, with him AND Hostetler. Either this is breaking news from this person, or he's pulling stuff out of his rear end. Can't tell which.

I lean towards this being B.S. too, since he's talking about a power change up and emergeing breaking pitch, which is opposite of what I saw and others have reported. I have questions.

Last year I was clammoring for them to use him as a starter, or at least try to. But since then, it seemed that never became an option. Really hoping this report is true and they give him a shot to start.

7 of his last 8 appearances were 2 IP appearances.

Not much to lose in having him try starting for awhile. If we were contending in 2017 I'd rather see him out of the pen, but now that we're rebuilding why not?

Man did the White Sox destroy Fulmer last year. Hope it was worth it.

He's a lottery ticket to me now. Don't expect him to ever be a big contributor based on how bad his stuff was last year and his poor control. Too bad as they supposedly were taking Benintendi if he fell

"Knockoff SB Nation tries to guess what Baseball America's top 100 would look like"

Clickbait, and into the trash it goes.

The format is annoying, but I wouldn't call these rankings way off from what other publications would rank.

It's not quite trash, plus we don't have much hot stove action going on right now

The Sox didn't destroy Fulmer. That's a silly thing to say but whatever. He was definitely disappointing last year, hopefully he has a nice a bounce back season.

I'm cool with this list, the one thing that kind of sticks out to me is I think a lot of publications will have Lopez and Kopech flipped. Maybe not that high for Kopech but I see him being around that area where Lopez is around where they have Kopech ranked.

They absolutely crippled his development. I've seen a ton of prospects never be the same when rushed. I really hope he can bounce back and the sox take their time with him from here on out.

Ya I couldn't disagree with this more. But I've said my piece on this topic numerous times so I'll let it be.
