In better news, Roger Ailes is also dead.

This is definitely one of those for me

I should probably stop listening to music. Before Bowie died, I was listening to nothing but Let's Dance, Low, and Young Americans. Before Prince died, strictly Prince. And for the past couple weeks, I have been listening to a lot of Audioslave

Try popping on a Kid Rock or Ted Nugent CD later today.

Damn. Been listening to Soundgarden since their debut album. Cornell had such an amazing voice and wrote some killer tunes. RIP Chris Cornell.

It's really sad to think about how many deaths have come from the grunge scene since the 80's.

Chris Cornell was the first artist I actually discovered essentially by myself and I fell in love with his music. Probably the most recognizable and distinguished voice of all time, and really, his singing voice was an instrument of its own. So many classic songs.

One of the best. RIP. I was in Wal-Mart Tuesday night and found Audioslave's self-titled album in the $5 section. I have the CD somewhere, but rather than look, figured I'd just buy a new copy. Started playing it in my car yesterday. Then this.

That first paragraph are my verbatim feelings

I was in college during the early days of grunge, so this hits pretty hard. I remember just being stunned when I heard that Kurt Cobain died.

I wasn't a huge Soundgarden fan, but Cornell definitely had one of the great rock voices of all time. "Say Hello 2 Heaven" is probably my favorite song that he sang. I just pulled it up on YouTube, and it stills holds up as a great vocal. Cool lyrics, too.

Music is one of the things I find that can instantly transport me to another time. Sometimes I hear a song, and i know what it felt like to hear that song when I was in high school or college or on a road trip with friends. Condolences to all the fans that grew up with Chris Cornell as their background music.

Music does the same for me.

Two songs from the grunge era that absolutely blew my mind the first time I heard them AIC- Man in the Box and Soundgarden- Rusty Cage.

Some people have put up video of Soundgarden's last show in Detroit but I haven't been able watch it yet. Not sure I'm up for it right now. I have a ton of fond memories hanging out, listening to grunge and getting ducked up. Good times.

Nothing but great tunes on the Singles soundtrack. Man, does that take me back. Haven't heard Mother Love Bone or Mudhoney in a while.

I had to look it up since its been a while since I heard it. "Breath" is my favorite song on the album. It's one of those songs that I can hear over and over.

Everyone keeps saying Eddie is the only one left. Is it weird I consider Billy Corgan part of that group?

Not weird at all. Mark Lanegan is still around too and had a hell of a voice.

Well those 3 were all from the same city and I don't think Pumpkins are generally considered grunge.

Were Pumpkin grunge though? Think most consider them alternative.

Great story.

Unfortunately, he could never pass the "Sean Connery" test with a lot of Bond fans, but I'll always remember him for his tongue in cheek humor that he might have been the best of all the Bonds of pulling off...and maybe it's also the case that political correctness in the 1980's and beyond made those same jokes, knowing glances, smirks and innuendoes impossible to pull off for later Bonds.

Gregg Allman dead at 69

I am really struggling with this one. I can't even describe what the Allmans mean to me. Horrible couple weeks for rock with two of its greatest and most honest voices passing.
