That sucks. He's already kind of marginal as a prospect anyway, he didn't have much room for an injury.
Hopefully it is a dislocation without significant damage, and he heals up quick. Obviously that is regardless of his prospect status, you just hate to see kids trying to make it get hurt. |

As I recall, I was pretty useless for a few days after surgery... but after about 3 months of PT I was pretty close to normal. Then a few more months of conditioning, and supposedly you can be back to 100%. I never really did get back complete throwing strength, but everything else came back OK. |

As if there wasn't already a negative feel about the minor league system, a harsh injury to an OK prospect sucks. I'll be stunned if we see Brandon Short in any prospect rankings ever again. He's not really that good, take away a year of playing time and add in that he may not be 100% again. Ugh

Ugh He will be 100% again. It's a fairly straight forward surgery. They just tack down the labrum and allow it to heal. This is the same surgery TCQ had on his shoulder before th Sox got him. His talent is the question not the health after the surgery. |

Quentin was known to have a strong or at least above average arm.
We saw glimpses, but never on a consistent basis. As far as Short goes, he was always going to struggle to make it at any position besides CF (where he's not suited) because of his lack of power and relatively low walk rate. He was/is a little bit similar to John Shelby, Jr., albeit with a higher batting average and a bit less athleticism. |

The injury was to Quentin's non-throwing shoulder. It was his lead shoulder for hitting. I you remember he had to wait awhile to begin hitting during that first Spring. |
