“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
I know it's still a process and we are likely years away from breaking ground. However, this should hopefully put an end to the "moving to Nashville" speculative nonsense. I can't wait to see new renderings if and when they become available. I also can't wait for Ishbia to officially take over this franchise.

There is a one-year lease extension club option through 2030, which seems increasingly likely the longer the Sox delay making a stadium decision. After looking at the Parcel 78 map that Tray posted, it doesn’t appear there is much remaining space for a baseball stadium to be built there. Wasn’t the original intention to also develop an entertainment village around the ballpark? If the Sox have to share that parcel with the Fire, it would significantly limit many of those possibilities. Building a new park on the site of the original Comiskey Park would be very cool. However, what happens to the current stadium? Since the state owns it, I doubt they would support demolishing it unless Ishbia offered a substantial payout to the State of Illinois? Has something like that ever happened before?

Who will be in charge of the next White Sox stadium decision? Justin Ishbia theoretically cannot take over control until 2029. The White Sox lease at Rate Field expires after the 2029 season. On average, it takes 30–36 months to build a stadium. It would seem unwise for Ishbia to allow Jerry Reinsdorf to make a long-term stadium decision that will define the franchise’s future, especially if ownership control is expected to change shortly thereafter. Can Ishbia exert meaningful influence over this process now? Time is of the essence. I also find it odd that we have not seen an updated rendering or a revised location strategy since the initial presentation at The 78 in early 2024. Can we reasonably expect a formal stadium site announcement and new renderings during the 2026 season? Given the construction timeline and lease expiration, the clock is clearly ticking

Passan: Astros sign Imai
I’m doubtful this happens. But I was also doubtful about Murakami when I made that initial post. Can the White Sox shock us twice in one offseason? Could it be that the winds of fortune are finally changing for us Sox fans? 🤔

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/white-sox-predicted-land-japanese-165639949. Too good to be true? Probably. But absolutely worth noting. He crushed 56 home runs in 2022 and won the Triple Crown. At just 25 years old, he’d fit perfectly into what the Sox are trying to build. Apparently David Schoenfield of ESPN predicted that the White Sox will be his landing spot. He has until 4pm this Monday to sign with an MLB team.

If Ishbia gave us one early present, who would excite you to add to this not ready team
Since Jerry is still the controlling owner — and likely pocketing a majority of Ishbia’s cash infusions anyway — I’m not even going to bother mentioning the big-name free agents like Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, Cody Bellinger, or Pete Alonso. The White Sox always seem to lean toward the cheaper, less impactful “B-listers.” That said, I’d be pretty happy with a Josh Naylor signing. He’s only 28 years old, brings a strong lefty bat, and actually fits the team’s timeline a lot better than most of the star names out there.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
The mayor of AH has gone on record to say he wants both the Bears and White Sox to build stadiums there. That plot of land is HUGE! Although it seems far fetched, I wouldn’t necessarily rule out that possibility. Until the White Sox come out publicly and say they are still focused on the 78, all other options have to be on the table. If Ishbia can cut a deal with the bears for a smaller plot of the entertainment district and it can draw revenue year round for both franchises, you never know.. . "I want to have a conversation with the Chicago White Sox," Tinaglia said. "I would love, I've said this five years ago, I want this to be a wonderful entertainment destination complex. So if we can get more than the Bears there, I'm all in, and I think our community would benefit from a year-round entertainment destination." -Mayor Tinaglia (April 2025)

With the lease at the Rate coming to an end after the 2029 season, I could imagine a stadium plan will be announced likely in the offseason or within the next 6 months at the latest. Ishbia will be in charge of that endeavor now that Jerry struck out on attempting to land more tax $$. It has been very quiet on the Sox front in regards to stadium plans go. Ever since the Fire took that 78 plot of land, I wonder if the Sox will feel motivated to land there as well in a potential shared site plan? A couple of other options include the Michael Reese site, building across the street where Old Comiskey used to be or a pivot to the suburbs like the Bears are doing. I just can't see Ishbia wanting to remain at the current Sox park. But who knows??? Only time will tell what the game plan is.....

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Eloy, Moncada and Robert got their money bag and suddenly they become injury prone, underperforming players. 🤨 This pisses me off because the fact that the Sox will literally get nothing of value back for these guys is mind boggling. It has set this current rebuild back for sure.

Roster movies: Quero, Benintendi to Chicago, Narvaez DFA'd, Jones to AAA
Yeah. Montgomery shouldn't sniff the big leagues anytime soon. That dude is absolutely lost.

Ownership breakdown: ishbias 35%, Reinsdorfs 50%
The most intruiging part about this whole Ishiba thing is the timeline. I'm assuming the Reinsdorf family ensured the Ishiba brothers that they will have first dibs to purchasing the Reinsdorf shares within a specific time frame. Why else would they purchase more shares and leave the Minnesota offer? My question is, what is that specific timeline? We could all speculate because of the age of Jerry, but could it be possible that Jerry is willing to sell his shares while still alive?

Ownership Change Will Result In . . .
Sox fans want change. Sox fans need change. We've been held hostage by Jerry's whimsical ownership decisions for far too long. I honestly can't wait for the day an owner like Ishiba takes over. The White Sox are a sleeping giant, IMO.

Andrew Vaughn is Officially a Bust
There is a very real chance that the White Sox will have gotten almost nothing back in return for the original core that Rick Hahn proudly assembled. What the heck happened to these players? Here is a list of the zero to little return packages from the old core. Moncada- declined club option (no return) Eloy- traded to the orioles for relieve Trey McGough 😐 Anderson- declined club option (no return) Madrigal- Traded for Kimbrel, who was traded for AJ Pollock who declined his player option to return to the White Sox. This led to the signing of Andrew Benintendi at 5 years $75 milion. 😒 Kopech- Traded w/ Fedde for Miguel Vargas, Perez and Albertus (Return value was pretty poor here and Vargas appears to be a bust like Vaughn) Cease- Traded for Drew Thorpe, Iriarte, Zavala and Wilson. (The Thorpe TJS really put a damper on this deal as Iriarte and Zavala have been midiocre at best.) Unless Thorpe rebounds strongly post surgery, the Sox might have lost a cy young canditate for very little. I really wish Getz got more back for Cease. I know the market was tough at the time, but he also could have opted to keep Cease until the trade deadlne. There is always a huge demand for starting pitching at the deadline. Crochet- By far Getz's best deal to date as they got back: Teal, Montgomery, Meidroth and Gonzalez. (2 top 100's and a potential every day 2B is a very nice return) As much as we crap on Getz- this was a rare quality deal. Vaughn- High risk of being an official bust. Robert- The final hope for netting a decent return and hopefully top 100 prospect. Between the demise of the old core and an inexperienced GM, the White Sox are likely 4-5 years away from being remotely relevant again. Unless a new owner takes over? That may speed things up a bit.

Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
Yes. I live in the western burbs. A lot of Sox fans out here.
