  1. Or not knowing jack s%*# about the 2026 White Sox training staff this is totally asinine and irresponsible.
  2. My Dad always said Johnny Mostil was a distant relative like his 3rd or 4th cousin which means he shared a great great or great great great grandparent. Or maybe was my grandfather or grandmother ( who had German lineage like Mostil) who shared that great great grandparent since someone had to tell my Dad that. Mostil was born and raised in the Chicago area 1896-1970. Very talented CF. Great defensive OF and in 1926 came in 2nd in MVP voting. Was once said while playing CF he caught a foul ball in a ST game.
  3. He's a nice guy but you really think he'll run that name by Sam ? Sam would probably be like " oookay , umm Why ?? "
  4. He's also got an opt out after next season too ,but the way he's pitching I doubt he could get more anywhere else even if he hates Houston. Signed for 3 yrs $54M but if he pitches 100innings this year he goes up to $21M in 2027 and 2028 . He's currently at 34.1 IP. Houston would probably love it if he opted out but they will probably just see if he can pitch better the rest of the year after he makes some adjustments and gets used to MLB. Imai has had trouble adjusting to the pitch clock and the difference in ball texture leading to lack of command. You try to get Houston to kick in $25 million but then they'd want a prospect. Taking on the whole salary isn't likely.
  5. Sox should use their own BP prospects. Ben Peoples should be called up. But it's his walk rate that's keeping him down. 5.8 BB per 9 and 11.2 K WHIP is still good though at 1.180 because he only gives up 4.9 hits per 9. 0.3 HR per 9. He turned 25 May 1st. Garrett Schoenle is 28 and he's put up 2 good seasons in a row at Birmingham last year and Charlotte this year. 2026 : 1.86 ERA , 1.190 WHIP 19.1 IP, 15 H, 17 K, 8 BB, 1HR . Maybe the Sox don't think his stuff is good enough . They just got Rule 5 draftee Peyton Pallette back from the Guardians. Had a good April but lost the strike zone and in May so they dumped him. He's pitched in 3 games for Charlotte without giving up a run 3.1 IP, 1 H, 4 K, 3 BB. It's always about command with pitchers. If they can call up Tyler Schweitzer they can call up Peoples or Schoenle. Pallette too but never called him up last year and didn't protect him in the Rule 5 so they didn't mind losing him.
  6. The Sox don't have a lot to show for smacking around Nola but pretty sure both teams are going to rack up runs today. Ump was lazy giving Nola strikes on the 3-0 to Vargas and then after that on the 1st pitch to Beni. The 5 rookies leading off last inning did great. After that Nola got some breaks from the ump .
  7. I was actually watching the Philly broadcast wondering who it was who never saw a Harry Potter movie or read a book. John Kruk maybe. Then neither one could come up with the word "Baton" for what an orchestra conductor waves around. Then the HR just launched me in maniacal laughter.
  8. In football everyone dances together right on the field after big plays even running to the endzone after the play is dead on interceptions and fumble recoveries . Hockey celebrates big goals on the ice with group hugs and the goal scorer at home throwing himself against the glass and skating along the bench for glove touches. Guys on the bench also bang their sticks on the boards after a good fight. Fun should be banned !!! No magic wands, no bat flips, no waves, no dugout HR costumes or Tridents, Welder Helmet, Samurai or Viking Helmets or other props !!
  9. What would you call lengthy ? I'm thinking once he starts playing ( he hit an oppo HR yesterday) it could be a week before he's back . The biggest hurdle was him not being ready to start the rehab assignment but that 's been cleared. Maybe he'll be ready for the road trip starting the 16th but I wouldn't rule out sometime during the upcoming home stand. Him and Hays both seem to get injured a lot and Pereira is out of options. The only reason to play Hays is to trade him if he can establish any ability to stay healthy and produce simultaneously. Might not be room for either of them with Grichuk and the switch hitting ability of Montgomery. The Sox could want to check out Hays and Pereira before they fully commit to Braden for the rest of the season. Lamonte Wade, Jr. who was hitting pretty well at AAA but was either released or had a June 1 option to chose Free Agency. He's with the Astro's now and had a pretty good game with a double and HR. AN All-Rookie OF of Antonacci, Peters and Braden Montgomery would be wild and fans would love it even if it's not as powerful as we'd like.
  10. I need @Autumn Dreamin to tell me what the Sox record is using an opener. Seems like it's good.
  11. What a great day to be a fan ! Gonzo showing the power he did in the minors. Keep it up !
