what on earth has Justin Morneau done to deserve MVP consideration? you know, other than hit behind 3 guys that get on at a .386, .336, and .415 clip respectively.

Pedroia should be the MVP of the league. His OPS+ is lower than Morneau's, but, without even looking, I imagine his VORP is a ridiculous amount higher. Honestly I'd prefer Hamilton winning the MVP over Morneau.

I looked up their numbers earlier and it wasn't even close. Pedroia finished with an identical number to Utley, 62.3 I believe. Amongst probable AL MVP candidates (not counting Sizemore who actually finished with a higher VORP than Dustin) Mauer was the closest, being a catcher and all, at 56.4. Quentin, who only played 5 months this year actually finished at 52 something. Morneau? 27th in baseball at 46.4. Hamilton was 57 something.

Oh and Albert Pujols finished with a VORP of 96.7 which is by far the highest in the game. If anyone else wins the NL MVP I'll be pissed.

The Twins offense has a reputation for being pretty weak but the top 3 guys tend to get on base. Justin Morneau gets an absurd amount of RBI opportunities.

AL
MVP - Pedroia
CY - Lee
ROY - Ramirez should but it will go to Longoria
MOY - Madden no one else deserves a vote in comparison

NL
MVP - Braun Or Manny (I think he drove in 1/3 of the dodgers runs since arriving, sick)
CY - Lincecum
ROY - gotta be Sotto
MOY - Torre, apparently not any manager can win with the NYY payroll, it takes a great one.

As much as I hate Pujols (and yes, Mr. Rolen will be smiling in __ years when it's all said and done when people find out about the "real" Pujols) he definitely is the MVP. Really only Manny (and the oogly 1.232 ops) is around Pujols but Manny doesn't have enough ab's in the NL unfortunitely. The Dodgers wouldn't be in the playoffs though without him.

BTW, I don't care what anyone thinks of him, I luv me sum Manny.

I think half of the awards are pretty much guarantees:

AL CY - Lee (halladay wins it any other year)
AL ROY - Longoria (alexei's become my favorite player, but longoria has just been better)
AL Manager - Maddon (still cant believe the rays won the east)
NL ROY - Soto (so much for the Fukudome hype)

The other four leave more room for debate:

AL MVP - Morneau (he leads the league in RBIs on a team that no one thought had a chance to compete, let alone tie for the division, CQ missing sept. costs him, although the Sox struggles show how valuable he was, Pedroia has been good, but if you look at the numbers, he might not even be the best on his team, Youkilis's number are similar, if not better and I hate the guy)

NL MVP - Pujols (his numbers were just unbelievable for a team that had no right even sniffing .500, let alone staying in the race til August, CC & Manny did carry their teams into the playoffs, but I just have a tough time giving the award to players who only spent 2 months in the league) forgot about Ryan Howard, he definitely needs to be in the discussion as well, but he has some other good players on that team that helped him

NL CY - Lincecum (the numbers he put up are staggering, especially the Ks, and the fact that he got 17 wins on a bad team with no offense says a lot, all apologies to Webb, Johan, and CC, who are all deserving as well)

NL Manager - Torre (last year the Dodgers struggled cause of clubhouse problems, and he got them together all on the same page, Pinella has done a great job with the Scrubbies, but they easily have way more talent than any other team in the NL, so he was expected to do well)
