Vegas never saw this one coming, I bet.
greg775
You'd think the networks were praying for Boston-Philly. They get the Rays who never even had a decent fan base at home til this year much less a national fan base.
Nobody's gonna watch, folks.

Sounds a lot like 2005.
The Critic
I won't watch an inning.
I couldn't care less who wins this if I tried.
Jenks Heat
I like Charlie Manual and Jamie Moyer.

I actually don't not like either team so I will watch and enjoy baseball.

They really didnt start to have a fan base until the playoffs started. There were alot of empty seats during the season from what I remember.
Brian
I'm gonna watch unless Sunday Night football and MOnday Night football are good games.

Have either of those two won a World Series? I was originally going to root for the Rays (to have another team win it all before the Cubs), but it'd be hard to root against two guys that have been around that long.

Alright, I’ll do the offenses first.

lolhitting.gif notworthy.gif Damn good reason to cheer for the Rays. I usually follow this heirarchy

Sox > Al Central > AL Pennant Winner. About the only NL teams I may pick over any other AL team would be the Astros or Cardinals.

Beat me to it. Lowest WS TV ratings ever, book it.

The Phillies won in 1980 with Pete Rose on the team.

So go Rays, though I'll be happy regardless of which team wins it. There are a lot of likable guys on both teams and I actually like both teams too. Once Boston was eliminated, I knew I would be happy.

Rays in 6
Pat Burrell has been better almost every year of his career. The only thing Crawford has over Burrell is stolen bases. Crawford was also injured for about 1/3 of this year, and didn't really have a good year in the time he was able to play.

The Phillies bullpen has been quite a bit better than the Rays has, though I do agree that with the analysis of the starting pitching.

Phillies in 7
Swingandalongonetoleft
I love the Phillies- they're my next closest rooting interest to the Sox in any sport, save for maybe the Bears and Jordan Bulls. I can't see them pulling this one off, but I'll watch every pitch just to make sure.

Baseball>All other sports, so why would October baseball not be more desirable than middle of the season NFL/preseason NBA/dawn of a new season NHL (combined, at that)?
chw42
Rays in 6.
ChWRoCk2
Hope the Phillies win it.

Can't stand the Rays fans and their stupid cowbells.

Phils in 7.

I'm throwing my full support behind the Rays. The thought of Brett Myers getting a ring makes me sick.

I'm a baseball fan, so even if I don't care who wins in a particular year, I will watch. I've watched every world series since I was like 5, not gonna stop now.

Same goes for any sport I'm a fan of. I don't care if it gets good ratings - doesn't affect me. The 'draw' of a Boston-LA world series, or some other big market combo, is irrelevant.

It's still the world series, same as any other year.

Rays in 6

I should probably say that I’m a Rays in six guys too, but I'm still a little shaky on Crawford. That 5 for 5 game did a lot to change my mind, but Crawford's health is still a little shaky in my mind. Yeah, Burrell’s had a significant drop-off this year, but maintained healthy numbers in the playoffs. IO guess power was the key here. Given that the Phillies two best pitchers (Hamels and Myers) succeed mostly on keeping the ball on the ground, and Kazmir and Garza have an unfortunate tendency of putting the ball in the air. That was truly my toughest comparison. So, I’m not going to argue that you have a point.

I kinda agree. Love when he was getting an attitude with reporters and he called them "retards" or something and the reporter asked, "How do you spell that?"

My favorite Brett Myers memory is when he punched his wife in the face and dragged her down the street in front of a Boston hotel. He of course, pitched the next day and in the end the Phillies did nothing about it because he had a 3.77 ERA at the time of the incident.
whitesoxfan101
The Rays will lose one because of the exhaustion of the Red Sox series and the Phillies will win one because they aren't a bad squad. Overall, it should be a pretty good series to watch, but Rays in six as they'll clinch at Tropicana Field. It's still the AL vs. the NL though, and I'd be shocked if the Rays don't take the crown.
Sox It To Em
I will be rooting for the Phillies, simply because Jamie Moyer is one of my favorite non-Sox players and he has not won a ring. Plus, I just can't root for the Rays (bandwagon fans, dome, cowbells, etc.). I generally don't root for the National League team, but I'm making an exception this year.

Same can be said for the whitesox by outsiders. Anyways Im an AL fan and since its not the redsox/yankees Im rooting for the Rays. I prob wont spend too much time watching the games though that being said.

Ratings be damned, this should be a very fun series to watch.

As a Sox fan, I always root for the under dog or the unpopular team. Go rays.
I secretly root for the Royals and Nats too. ph34r.gif

Go Rays!!!
robinventura23
This should be a fun WS, no doubt. That said, I'm rooting for the Phillies. They've won it only once in their entire history.
PlaySumFnJurny
I love the Fall and especially the Fall Classic. Every year, following a weekend afternoon outside raking leaves, I make a big pot of chili that I start in on during the late football games and nosh on throughout the Series. Keeping with tradition, I'll be rooting for the AL team with my windows open. Rays in six.
Brian
The Backstreet Boys? WTF?

Weren't there 5?
Soxbadger
For some reason I can see the Rays in 5.

Just like how many members the back street boys had before the one left.
maggsmaggs
Anyone know the music they played during the player introductions, especially the Phillies? I loved the song, but have no idea what it is called or if its even a song.

05 series moved so fast for me. I don't remember all the extra curicullar stuff.

Everytime I see Kazmir, I wanna ask Steve Phillips what Victor Zambrano is up to.

Poor Steve Phillips still being blamed for messes (and trades) that Jim Duquette made.

The pennies in the jars/cans and cowbells are annoying. Im glad chicago is above that crap and thundersticks

I really like the world series. 2-0 Phillies. Utley is awesome.

Yikes. 2 DPs for Upton. Never thought I would see that. Although that one was hit pretty hard.

Kazmir’s slider is ridiculous tonight.

I know it works and allows him to constantly square up the ball, but I hate Utley’s swing. I don’t know if it’s to handsy or something it just bothers me.
