Full Version: Implications of Teixeira sweepstakes

A rumor that is gaining strength is Teix to Boston. This would mean Ortiz, Youk, Lowell, and Teix to fit in 1b, 3b and DH. No way they hold onto that. Considering Lowell is coming off hip surgery, I would imagine he would be their preferred trade candidate. He plays good defense and has gap power. Lots of doubles.

Would the Sox be interested in going after him for 3b if Boston signs Teix? What would it take to get him?

Please say no to Lowell

Yeah, no thanks.

If the cost was Lance Broadway and they were paying 1/2 of his contract, why not.

P.s. Edited topic title because I saw the name of this thread and figured somehow someone already had inked Tex.

First part: I dont think that will happen, neither have much value but I just dont see the Red Sox wanting Broadway at all.

And yea, I thought there was actual information saying that Tex signed. Many reports are still claiming that the Angels are in front with an offer around Miggy Cabrera's deal.

We don't need offense that bad. I'd rather take the chance on Fields because if he's healthy and he breaks out he's worth 100X more than Lowell.

Dumping Lance Broadway would be tempting though, but I'd ask for some longshot prospect that doesn't take up roster space.

Lowell's defense, assuming the injury doesn't mean too much long term, is way ahead of what Field's can do.

I'm not a big fan of Lowell, but I just thought I'd mention the Ozzie connection from Florida. I think Fields/Benemit/Viceado should somehow cover 3rd.
