  4. CWS can/could wear a paperbag to be more easily identifiable...if he wasn't out of town already.
  5. He gets paid by Fox for his work in Saturdays. Don’t think he gets much for this gig, more to gain exposure and possibly work on broadcasting. The interview was nearly a half hour and cordial. Getz evaded questions at times but more informative and enjoyable than a typical Hahn interview.
  6. Two stadium notes to pass along tonight. Saw on the news where the attempt by the Caps and Wizards to move to Alexandria, Virginia is now dead. The Alexandria city council said negotiations are now at an end. One of the council members put out a statement thanking everyone who put pressure on the local government to say no. And from Cleveland comes word that the Browns are now saying they need a billion dollars in renovations to Paul Brown Stadium or they need two billion to build a new domed stadium.
  7. 21 by the Orioles in 1988. N.L. record is 14 straight by the Cubs in 1997. White Sox record is 10 to start the 1968 year.
  8. Why would they want a Justin Fields regen after they just traded Justin Fields?
  9. Maybe not. @WestEddy made a good point that Grossman’s defense is Sheets-like in RF, but I guess that hasn’t stopped them from starting Sheets in RF. However, they will still need Pillar to back up CF. Ideally, Grossman tears it up at AAA and they can somehow fit both Pillar and Grossman on the roster. It’s too bad no one else can back up 1B because Sheets is the guy who should be in AAA. Grossman and Pillar are old and may be done but they have both hit lefties fairly well in their careers and it could make some sense if they are in LF and RF respectively against left-handed starters, with Robert in CF, Eloy at DH, and Benintendi on the bench.
  10. This seems like the best case scenario for Drohan and the team. Maybe he misses the whole year and can be sent back to AAA. He seems like he has talent but shouldn't be on a major league roster yet.
  11. I think it's telling that the Sun Times got a quote for this story from everybody in the world except Benetti. They called up Dave Sims and got a quote, did Benetti tell 'em to shove it? Probably. I think the most awkward thing for Benetti is returning to Chicago and realizing he has to live in Detroit now instead. Bummer.
  12. Obviously it’s a surgical procedure which is never good for a pitcher, but isn’t it almost somewhat beneficial for a team that wants to retain a Rule 5 pick when this happens? Makes it easier to keep the Rule 5 pick?
  13. https://www.mlb.com/news/kevin-pillar-re-signs-with-white-sox-after-release Pretty fucked up. Pillar seems very candidly pissed off in this interview. I think Grossman takes his spot the moment he looks good in AAA. I think it's hilarious and sad they waived him just to re-sign him for $2mil less. These guys really hate Oscar Colas.
  14. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/plaschke-still-believe-shohei-ohtani-192152561.html Plaschke: Do you still believe in Shohei Ohtani? I'm not sure
  15. What is the record for most consecutive losses to start the season?
  16. 15. Tigers at White Sox, 4:10 p.m. Tarik Skubal vs. Garrett Crochet Is the Skubal we saw in the second half last year — the one who might have been one of the best pitchers in baseball — the real deal? If he is, this Tigers team may have some real plucky potential in this division. The White Sox? Well, maybe not so much. But at least Crochet — moving to a starting role after throwing 73 Major League relief innings since 2020 — will always be able to say he was an Opening Day starter. MLB.com rated this as the 15th best Opening Day pitching match-up, haha.
  17. What's the longest losing streak to start a season?? Longest Losing Streak to Start a Season: 21 Baltimore Orioles (1988) The 1988 Orioles easily own this mark as the next longest skid was the Cubs' 14-game drought to begin the 1997 season...
  18. He won't remember...it's actually self abuse. But have fun anyways.
  19. I did the unthinkable and got tickets to tomorrows game…..have been so conflicted the last few weeks in regards to getting tickets but taking the soon to be 2 year old and hoping he can have some fun on opening day was too hard to pass up but at least he will never remember the outcome or this season….idk why I put myself through this….someone should report me for child abuse….hopefully the kiddo likes pregame fireworks at least
  20. They literally just signed Pillar to a $1M MLB deal a couple days ago. Almost zero chance he is the first to go.
  21. Jordan Leasure. His grandpa had the opportunity to do the funniest thing.
  22. That’s awesome! (Who is this)
