New Catch-All thread.

BA has piece on New Year's Resolutions for each org's farm system.

 Chicago White Sox
Resolution: Fix Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith

Thanks to the signing of Munetaka Murakami, landing the No. 1 overall pick in the MLB draft and the emergence of rookies like Kyle Teel and Colson Montgomery, there’s plenty for White Sox fans to be excited about heading into 2026. The team’s young core is beginning to show flashes of the kind of impact that could make Chicago competitive for the first time in a while. But if the White Sox want to contend consistently, the development of Schultz and Smith is absolutely critical.

Both lefthanders have been among the most heralded prospects in the system over the past year thanks to their advanced stuff and high upside, yet injuries have prevented them from reaching their full potential. Getting them healthy and helping them translate their minor league success to the big leagues could be the difference between a promising farm system and a truly impactful one.

Big time favorite of Georgia area guys due to an advanced feel for hitting, as well as finding the barrel, Burress is one of the more beloved recruits in Georgia Tech history. Explosive hips and big bat speed help Burress generate power well beyond what you might expect from a smaller frame. Athletic, runs well and has plenty of arm for center field. Swing can get uppercut heavy when he really tries to lift the ball, but he's hit at every stop.

Burress has some drift in his swing and inconsistencies in terms of direction depending on where the pitch is. He'll step in the bucket at times despite loading from an open stance. It's an oddity in terms of conventionalism at the plate, but Burress has been the most impactful player in the 2026 class and it isn't terribly close. The raw power is legit and so are the tools. Until the quirks in his swing prove to be an issue, there's little reason to question his operation.

It'll just come down to how he performs over the course of the next three years and how scouts buy into the operation. It's without question, comfortably, first round talent.

Graterol has a strong, broad-shouldered frame with more physical projection remaining. He already has some of the better raw power of any catcher in the 2026 international class and could grow into more once he’s physically mature. It could end up a power-over-hit profile with the potential to develop into a 20-plus home run hitter. Graterol has a strong arm, but he will need to make strides with his blocking and receiving to prove that he can stick behind the plate.

Romero has a lean, lively 6-foot-2 frame with advanced feel for hitting from the left side of the plate. It’s a sound, fluid swing with the ability to manipulate the barrel to square up pitches with good contact skills against live pitching. Romero has mostly doubles power now but with a lot of space left to fill out and potentially develop into a 20-plus home run hitter. He’s a good athlete and an above-average runner who moves around well in center field.

For those interested, here were some interesting ones.

	1. Konnor Griffin --- this one hurts since we had a shot at him but went with Hagen.

	30. Montgomery
44. Bonemer
58. Hagen Smith
66. Billy Carlson
95. Schultz

Keith likes the position prospects a little more than others in some areas, but his pitching grades aren't promising for a team who has no pitching.

Figured I'll do another catchall thread for this year's AFL and winter ball developments.

As a reminder, the Sox prospects playing in Arizona:

 LHP Hagen Smith

 RHP Jarold Rosado

 RHP Carson Jacobs

 RHP Connor McCullough

 RHP Tyler Davis

 IF Sam Antonacci

 1B Ryan Galanie

 OF Braden Montgomery

 OF Caden Connor

Braden will be joining later in the season after getting back into game shape following a small foot fracture from a HBP. Most of these guys are fresh off of the Barons run to back to back Southern League titles. A couple have upcoming Rule 5 decisions.

I'll also keep an eye out for guys getting winter ball reps in:

Sosa's excellent LVBP results did seem to translate some to his MLB performance. Looks like he'll be back for this season, we'll see where on the IF he plays.

Sox with second best swing decision score. Love seeing them prioritize guys who don’t chase.

Twins and Tigers ahead of the Sox. Sox were 14th in 2024 and 19th in 2022.

Not sure how this translates to actual major league success, but nice to see the Sox system moving up. Hopefully a solid draft this year moves them into the top 5.
