Thanks for posting that. While there are some differences, both good and bad, there are a lot of eerie similarities. The White Sox need a house cleaning IMO. We all know the problems TLR has brought. And the utter failure to draft and develop even at a mediocre level should get Hahn and KW axed.

Well you get the same thing with their current location. But probably to a larger degree. Who wants to drive to 35th and Shields on a Wednesday night? Not many of us. There would be a lot of options if they looked in the suburbs. But I absolutely would focus on the Naperville/Aurora area if affordable land was available (big if of course). That area is as centralized as you can get. It's within reach of people up north like me (in West Dundee), and within reach of the south suburbs as well, where much of the fanbase is. And I don't know how many people know this, but Aurora (#2) and Naperville (#3) are now the 2nd and 3rd most populated cities in Illinois.

I think the Sox are a sleeping giant for whoever might end up buying them eventually. There will be a lot of bidders if they become available. Just because Reinsdorf has under utilized the franchise, doesn't mean others won't see the potential that he never exploited. If Jerry lives on for a number of more years and it comes after the Bears have moved to Arlington Heights, my guess is that would be the focus of new ownership. They could tap in to a far larger suburban market than the market they've currently enjoyed on the south side.

Everyone in the organization needs to be replaced, maybe other than Ethan Katz. To me KW is right there with Rick Hahn in needing to be axed. I suspect they've all made these decisions together.

The end of a terrible signing. We were talking before about turning points of the rebuild. It was kind of early on, but missing out on Wheeler and settling for Keuchel has not gone well.

If that was Keuchel with pride, then I'd prefer he dial back his pride some. Actually, I'd prefer if they just release him today.

I agree, for the most part they have made a solid core. A couple of the guys have left me wanting more (Eloy and Moncada specifically), but they still have time to fulfill their potential. But to your point on Hahn. I 100% agree. Last winter, a number of us were getting a little cranky with the moves or lack of moves Hahn was making, and unfortunately, it's panned out how we feared, or even worse. Hahn has done a horrible job augmenting this core. I don't know how you can spin it any other way. Blatantly ignoring glaring holes on the team. Hell, he even opened up this 2B hole last summer that didn't need to be opened up. He not only hasn't filled the holes well, but his bad moves have created even more holes on the team. All this said, TLR has made it clear over the years how obsessed he is with strong bullpens. And KW has always been the guy to bring in players after their prime. So this is where I wonder if Hahn's hands are tied? I'm not convinced he is pulling the strings here. Last winter's moves are more traits of KW (the aging star acquisitions) and TLR (the bullpen and utility player moves) than of Hahn IMO.

I'm ready for the Sox to move on from Abreu after this season. It's Vaughn's time and Vaughn can't play an adequate outfield. He needs to play first base.

You're putting a Rick Hahn-esque type of spin on this. For the last 4 seasons, the Sox are the Yankees bitches. There's a serious matchup problem here.

The Sox have won 1 of their last 10 games against the Yankees going back to 2019 (including going 1-5 in 2021). There's no point from last year where they did fine against them.

If they're going to continue prioritizing relievers and utility infielders over impact players, then I would agree it will be hard to get there.

If you trade Eloy now, or anytime by next winter, you're likely getting pennies on the dollar back for him. And maybe some people would be ok with that between his injuries and underperforming. I'm not ready to go there yet.

That was a nice get for the Twins. I don't think we should delude ourselves in to thinking Rick Hahn will pull off a similar feat. Especially with such immediate results. More likely it would be a few years before you see success from prospects, even if they do pan out.

If you move Lynn and Giolito, you may be punting on the entire rebuild, as opposed to just accepting its a bad year and trying again next year. They don't have the prospects knocking down the door to replace these guys. And we know Jerry doesn't want to spend at the top of the market for free agent starting pitchers.

Hopefully they don't have to retool or rebuild at the deadline. But some of these relievers could be valuable trade chips if that becomes the case. Good relievers are gold to teams heading towards the playoffs. You can moves guys like Graveman, Kelly or even Hendriks before thinking about moving the Giolito's or Eloy's IMO.

For sure. Jerry spent 35 years telling us how much he regrets allowing TLR to get fired by Hawk. It wont happen again, no matter how deserving. I think our only chance there is, if TLR himself decides he is done with this crap and retires.

JR is paying the money out whether they keep him or not. They don't need to double down on the Keuchel problem by letting him lose every 5th game (not that it's all on him, but he does really suck). As for DFA-ing him. I'd say when they're ready to call up Cueto, pull the trigger. If that means waiting another week, then ok.
