  1. You get a job offer from the White Sox and accept. Why? Desperate to stay at the MLB level? Promotion to a position that no one else will give you? You believe it can be a stepping stone to a better organization? It's a great organization with stability, great facilities, an owner is trying to win, lots of resources, and you just picked up for your second DUI? Maybe, eventually this will stop being the place careers go to die. But I can't imagine anyone telling their agent, see if you can get me into the (white) Sox organization.

  3. Unclear why there's so much negativity on Antonacci. Producing really well at AA and now AFL. Completely unheralded and cost the White Sox no more than a 5th round selection. His ceiling might be solid MLB regular? Oh no!! Good organizations should produce guys like that. He's certainly fitting a "type" from the Getz era in terms of making great swing decisions but lacking power. I see it as a possibly-smart approach by Getz to look for players with great approaches at the plate when you're in a situation with no perfect players available. Frankly, good swing decisions might be even harder to teach than power hitting.

  4. My main takeaway is these guys seem to have been picked solely based on their track record and performance in the interview process. No nepotism/connections/etc. Young guys too, relatively speaking. Hope it works out.

  5. Hopefully that happens and they can salvage some value from him.

  6. The brilliance of being the worst organization in baseball is you can take from any team and it's an upgrade.

  7. I'd take a flyer on Seymour - they can always cut him if they need the 40-man spot. Although, he may not be much more than a LH version of Elko...

  8. It's hard for me to make that jump without seeing him perform. He's not disciplined at the plate. I don't discount having better players around him could help him to get better pitches to hit. Based on his history, it's hard to see him both stay healthy and perform though, but he'll have better talent around him and should start the season healthy.

  9. I do agree with this. He should have his best chance to perform next season, assuming health, with the young hitters they have around him. They will need to manage his playing time (every 5th day or so, he's off or at DH), but this will it. Play well and you're likely traded at the deadline.

  10. I mean I get everyone is down on the White Sox right now that doesn't have a vested interest in selling a story here, but the reality is that there are only 30 of each of these jobs. There are very, very few people out there who can say no to one of them knowing that another chance will soon come. For most of these dudes, saying no is probably the last chance they get. Take the job.

  11. Since I'm living in SC nowadays, I'm rooting for an expansion team in Charlotte or thereabouts. And as someone who once lived in Memphis and got my fill of Nashville supremacists, I'm rooting against Nashville getting a team.

  12. I'm glad they picked up his contract. He's still my favorite player on the team right now. I hope he regains his all star form. I am also excited about Montgomery.

  14. He has played more than 110 games once in his career. Over his last 956 ABs he has put up an OPS+ of 86. That IF is doing some heavy lifting. It is getting to be the time to start asking if playing through injuries has sapped him the way it did guys like Yoan and Eloy, and this is who Luis is now.

  15. 2 guys I would buy low on since Jerry is going to be cheap anyway: Casas and Detmers

  16. It's literally impossible for the Sox to find a better player on the FA market with anywhere close to this upside on a 1 year $20M deal (really $18M because $2M was sunk cost), with an additional 1 year team option at the same rate. Absolute no brainer move imo. I get why a chunk of Sox fans want to move on, but this was an easy decision.

  18. If they got him back to play him again, it is one thing. If this is because they want to try to trade him for the same package of garbage they wouldn't take 3 months ago, this is stupid.

  19. The Luis Robert experience continues for one more year in Chicago. Maybe this is finally the year he stays healthy and puts up a monster year! Stop me if you've heard that one before...

  20. Mason Adams 100% gets taken in the R5 if Sox don’t protect him. He needs to be added to the 40-man.

  21. The biggest question mark for Sox fans remains the ongoing stadium issue...the timing of that possible sale to Ishbia and 2029 certainly is not a coincidence.
