  1. Disagree that its more likely we fade. Have you looked at the competition in the AL Central and AL WC race? Sox may not be perfect they have a chance every night with that lineup. 50/50 playoff team.
  2. 2 points
  3. OK, 9 games coming up against the 3 best teams in MLB who are a combined 54 games over .500. When these 9 games are in the books and conservatively speaking I think if we are at .500 at the end of this stretch it will be acceptable especially the way the pitching staff is performing right now. Any thing better like 4-5 or a better 5-4 would be cause for huge celebrations. I think our hitting will keep us in most games, it all comes down to the pitching, the staff needs a gut check.
  4. I didn't realize it but Jacob is a pretty large player compared to our other second basemen. He's built like a 1B/DH. When Gonzalez was promoted to fill in for Mune, Venable stated that he was not going to alter the infield configuration beyond what was required. I think he made a good decision. Gonzalez has done a great job defensively and has shown some discipline at the plate and of course that HR power. I still miss Mune though..
  5. Or not knowing jack s%*# about the 2026 White Sox training staff this is totally asinine and irresponsible.
  6. My Dad always said Johnny Mostil was a distant relative like his 3rd or 4th cousin which means he shared a great great or great great great grandparent. Or maybe was my grandfather or grandmother ( who had German lineage like Mostil) who shared that great great grandparent since someone had to tell my Dad that. Mostil was born and raised in the Chicago area 1896-1970. Very talented CF. Great defensive OF and in 1926 came in 2nd in MVP voting. Was once said while playing CF he caught a foul ball in a ST game.
  7. Sox should use their own BP prospects. Ben Peoples should be called up. But it's his walk rate that's keeping him down. 5.8 BB per 9 and 11.2 K WHIP is still good though at 1.180 because he only gives up 4.9 hits per 9. 0.3 HR per 9. He turned 25 May 1st. Garrett Schoenle is 28 and he's put up 2 good seasons in a row at Birmingham last year and Charlotte this year. 2026 : 1.86 ERA , 1.190 WHIP 19.1 IP, 15 H, 17 K, 8 BB, 1HR . Maybe the Sox don't think his stuff is good enough . They just got Rule 5 draftee Peyton Pallette back from the Guardians. Had a good April but lost the strike zone and in May so they dumped him. He's pitched in 3 games for Charlotte without giving up a run 3.1 IP, 1 H, 4 K, 3 BB. It's always about command with pitchers. If they can call up Tyler Schweitzer they can call up Peoples or Schoenle. Pallette too but never called him up last year and didn't protect him in the Rule 5 so they didn't mind losing him.
  8. Very few top 100 prospects have been dealt the last couple of trade deadlines, so unless we’re going after someone akin to Skubal, I don’t think any of those guys would be in scope. Candidly, I’d also prefer hanging onto Carlson a bit longer and let him build up some value. I think we’d be selling low on him. I still think we could add some pitching by trading prospects below the guys you referenced. That being said, we’d some some guys to rebound a bit and a few others to get healthy.
  9. The biggest hole in the bottom of the line-up is not with the RFer but at catcher. Not sure how long that Teel's rehab is going to take but it is maddening to see so many ABs given away by Romo and Quero. They have both run into one here and there, but more often than not, they kill rallies.
  10. For being one of his "best" starts, like 90 pitches in a little over 4 IP is awful. Dude has a ways to go.
  11. I'd rather sell Peters, Grichuk and a bullpen arm and get back a back end top 100 type. 2/3 the AL is going to think they are in it. It's going to be a seller's market and there's no real reason we have to pretend we're a 90 win club with a few additions. This is from all available data a 78 win club (I mean good job just getting to that point already) that for the first 1/3 of the season played like an 88 win club. No shame in that, but lets not fool ourselves. The best mid or late summer news this team can give its fanbase is not a big trade, but a Mune extension.
  12. Let him force the issue. This season is found money, no need to rush the guy.
  13. It gets called about 50 / 50. I love that Sam goes up there and finds any possible way to get on base.
  14. Five factoids today: June 8, 1947 - Luke Appling Day was celebrated at Comiskey Park. The future Hall of Famer was among the all-time Sox leaders in numerous categories and won the batting title in 1936, hitting a remarkable .388. He repeated as batting champ in 1943 with a .328 average. He went 1 for 6 in the first game of a double header against Washington. The Sox lost 1-0 in 18 innings before winning the nightcap 8-2, a game Appling did not play in. June 8, 1951 - Chicago area native Marv Rotblatt became the first pitcher to enter a game while being driven in from the center field bullpen. Rotblatt relieved starter Ken Holcombe in the eighth inning, in the Sox 4-2 loss to the Yankees who stood in their dugout and watched in amazement along with almost 54-thousand fans on a Friday night. In the 1960's, Sox pitchers were brought into the game in golf carts and automobiles, and in 1966, a converted snowmobile (sponsored by Nickey Chevrolet) that was fitted with special skies so as to not harm the grass, performed the task. June 8, 1981 - The new look White Sox found themselves on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Slugger Greg Luzinski was featured with the caption, “The Sox’ New Sock. Chicago Slugger Greg Luzinski.” June 8, 2001 - Sox outfielder Carlos Lee became the first player to hit a walk off extra inning grand slam in interleague play (including the World Series) as his blast in the 10th inning blew up the Cubs 7-3 at Comiskey Park. The shot was off Courtney Duncan. Lee would have five RBI’s that evening. The hit scored Tony Graffanino, Chris Singleton and Ray Durham. June 8, 2008 - The White Sox tied the Major League record when they scored 10 or more runs with 15 or more hits in three consecutive games. The Sox would power past Minnesota three straight times on their way to a four-game series sweep. The record setting scores were 10-6, 11-2 and 12-2. The Sox would hit eight home runs in the three games with four coming off the bat of Joe Crede. He had two home runs in consecutive games tying the team record. A real power display!

  16. Are we talking another Carson Fulmer disaster? I thought Smith was a top prospect.
  17. Not very…think they would rather trade for a veteran back of the rotation piece like Civale Flexen Martin Perez Fedde this year than have Hagen get torched because of walks, erratic command and pitch counts/short outings just like Sandlin’s last two or Painter against the Sox. Delmers would be fine, but other teams have the ability to easily outbid the Sox with higher quality redundant milb depth.
  18. My Dad used to hate when that s.o.b catcher for the Twins would stick out his elbow to get hit by pitches....a few years later, my Dad loved AJ.
  19. Peters never put up an OPS above .800 in the minors. His career minor league line is below. So while he has been great thus far, he is likely playing over his head and isn’t very likely to keep it up. That is what regression is. It doesn’t mean he isn’t a beneficial player to the team or that anyone is good enough to replace him in CF right now. It just means he probably isn’t the .300+ AVG and .800+ OPS guy he is performing like right now. .264 .355 .421 .776
  20. Maybe he'll at least see 3000 pitches.
  21. How nice of you guys, who have welcomed me back to the forum. I do appreciate it. I've been reading posts, the whole time, but just haven't participated in the discussions. Thanks
  22. This may be the last time he gets to the see the Sox in the playoffs. I don't know what all in means but I do think he will give them the resources to go for it.
  23. What would you call lengthy ? I'm thinking once he starts playing ( he hit an oppo HR yesterday) it could be a week before he's back . The biggest hurdle was him not being ready to start the rehab assignment but that 's been cleared. Maybe he'll be ready for the road trip starting the 16th but I wouldn't rule out sometime during the upcoming home stand. Him and Hays both seem to get injured a lot and Pereira is out of options. The only reason to play Hays is to trade him if he can establish any ability to stay healthy and produce simultaneously. Might not be room for either of them with Grichuk and the switch hitting ability of Montgomery. The Sox could want to check out Hays and Pereira before they fully commit to Braden for the rest of the season. Lamonte Wade, Jr. who was hitting pretty well at AAA but was either released or had a June 1 option to chose Free Agency. He's with the Astro's now and had a pretty good game with a double and HR. AN All-Rookie OF of Antonacci, Peters and Braden Montgomery would be wild and fans would love it even if it's not as powerful as we'd like.
  24. During his draft year, Braden was so much better from the left side that some people thought he should give up switch hitting. Last year he was very good as a righty. Sample size is so small from that side in AAA that it’s hard to really pass judgment yet, I think.
  25. First of all blah blah blah 🤣Go change another thread title to call another poster here a Hater . That wasn't about me. Your actions speak volumes about you . You can twist words and lie all you want but that one act describes exactly who and what you are. What a clown ! You indict yourself more than I ever could. Takes 2 to tango amigo and you want to lead every dance into destroying threads because you always need the last word. Abuse of power like that should get you kicked out from being an Admin and banned for a while. If it wasn't all that obvious to people before it is now.
  26. I think they will have to choose between Acuna and Nishida when Pereira is ready. And since Nishida has options, I think he’s the odd man out.
  27. This song is eight years old and Sandrider isn't even a band anymore but this is still my go to "let's party" song
  28. This song does not apply to the Ant-Man.
