At the very least if you hated the current situation, and most of us do, but also see no hope the next couple of years, why would you be wasting your time on a beautiful night watching this crap?3 points

For the love of god, take a breather from White Sox baseball. All you do is b**** & whine about the same things over & over and are single-handedly bringing down the quality of the site.3 points

No thanks. Let the kids play next year. If you lose 100 games again than so be it. This team needs all the top 3 draft picks that it can acquire.2 points

That won’t do shit bro. I’d still have to read all the people replying to your non-stop b****ing & whining. Unfortunately this really is North Korea and there’s no ending your tyranny Kim Jung-un.2 points

Oh my God, you mean Yoan Moncada's not coming here to get hitting advice?!?!?! Why didn't anybody warn me?!?!?! Dude, we have entire threads on trade proposals. We endlessly discuss whether Eloy and Kopech should be brought up now or next year. We can and do discuss why Moncada is struggling. That's what makes a message board interesting, regardless of the fact that it has no impact on the actual team. No, I'm not suggesting we just have endless doom and gloom about Moncada, but I do think blaming umpires for the struggle of a top prospect is pointless, and that we can and should discuss what steps he could take to eventually live up to his hype. If I'm just supposed to write "WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" when something cool happens, I'll spend my time elsewhere.2 points

There will be lots of Bryce Bush info coming this week. I interviewed him this week along with NIck Hostetler, the signing scout and two of his high school coaches2 points

We really can’t afford to trade Lopez at this point in time IMO. We need to start building some certainty in the rotation and he’s closer to filling the #3 spot than Giolito is.2 points
-
Yoan Moncada is not awful. He’s an above average player in a rookie season going through a terrible slump that is making him look at worst slightly below average.2 points
-
I feel dumber reading this thread that people think Moncada isn't important, that he's better off in the minors. My god people. He's 23 years old with pretty good plate discipline, a good eye. Definitely needs to be more aggressive early in the count. That'll come with more reps.2 points

I'm beginning to wonder if he is having some vision issues. He looks totally and completely lost, doesn't seem to have any idea of what he wants to do or any type of plan. This is actually getting embarrassing for the kid and the organization.2 points

Just watched the Moncada 3rd strike. If he’s not swinging there with 2 strikes, that’s on him.2 points

And about 5 patches to the massive holes he has in his swing/approach. No doubt in my mind he was a better player when he was called up last year than he is now.1 point

On 1-0, Avi wasn’t looking for a 97 mph fastball. On 2-1, Avi evidently wasn’t looking for a 96 mph fastball. On 3-2, Avi apparently wasn’t looking for a 97 moh fastball. They should just send Steverson’s sorry ass to the sun.1 point

Lol...what? Sign a veteran to a short-term deal and end this nonsense. Engel is not a major league caliber player.1 point

Any other degenerate bovada heads on this board? Severino just hit 8ks for the over on total strikeouts. Every Yankee starting pitcher went over on strikeouts this series. The Sox face Bieber, Bauer, and Carrasco from Cleveland this weekend. I suspect a ton of ks this weekend as well. Get dat easy money during this putrid Sox season!1 point

I dream of the day I never have to see Engel swing a bat again.1 point

I read where Abreus old Cuban hitting coach talked to him and told him what he was doing wrong. It snapped his slump.1 point

See, most people don't find endless complaints and strawman arguments interesting either.1 point

If the Sox don’t win tonight, and it is not looking very good, they are going to have to pretty much run the table the rest of the season to make the playoffs, and even that is probably not good enough.1 point

Given the struggles of Yoan and Anderson, it's hard to see how Steverson sticks around after this season.1 point

I can't speak for footlong, but I've rooted for this team for 25 years. That started when I was six. I moved to a foreign country in that time frame, long before MLBTV was a thing, and later I went off to participate in a war, and even if I haven't watched every game because the circumstances in my life were too severe, I've at the very least checked the box score following every game, in every season, for two and a half decades. This is as much part of me as my own name. I can't walk away simply because the FO is incompetent for what is a relative sliver of time.1 point

I'm done making grand declarations about how good x player is going to be for the remainder of the next 2.5 seasons. I've been so wrong on Moncada and Giolito that I'm just going to let it play out and let the play on the field do the talking. No more getting attached to prospects. Take everything I said previously and throw it out. At this point, I'm questioning whether I know as much about baseball as I thought I did.1 point

Sorry to say but this board is getting a lil hard to come too... And I've been here a long time.....1 point

I’m not trying to be sarcastic or pretentious; genuinely, if that’s how you feel, why are you a fan? Why not root for a team that better aligns with your preferences?1 point

Uh, I'll take "Reactions that don't rationalize and excuse failure for people who made $31.5 million to play a game" for $1,000, Alec.1 point

This is really tiring. Is there any point where Moncada is actually held responsible for his failures, or are we just going to blame his struggles on umpires? He can get better and he can continue to develop, but we can't just treat him like a golden boy. Right now, he's struck out 17 times in his last 29 PAs. That is NOT the umpires' fault.1 point
-
You have 3-50% choices instead of 2 . What you did forget is he also has a chance to get worse. With his 467 plate appearances this year he has just about double last year's. He is down % wise in almost every category except stolen bases. Without a surge down the strecth, he will regress this season.1 point

If you can’t understand why the 70 grade, former #1 overall prospect with top 5 tools in all of baseball who was the centerpiece of the Chris Sale trade is so important to the rebuild then there’s more to say here.1 point
-
Yes. He needs to adjust to the pitching. This is usually what separates the successful players. The ability to constantly adjust.1 point
-
? He’s been worth one WAR already, unless you’re suggesting that’s going to continue to drop. I doubt it gets worse though.1 point

If that ump has been calling low strikes all game, that is on Yoan. But if he has not, then its hard to fault him.1 point

It was a ball, but it was close. Maybe these umps are just bitter Yoan can eat a couple dozen twinkies a day and still look so good.1 point

Eugenio Suarez is one of the best hitters in the game. He's not going anywhere and is their building block. Nick Senzel is a top 5ish top 10ish prospect and would cost a boat load as well. He is to them as Eloy is to us in a sense. So, this doesn't make much sense.1 point

Davidson 1.0 War 770 OPS Moncada 1.5 war 695 OPS I realize Moncada has much more potential because of his athleticism.. but yeah.. it's not as dumb a question as it should be.1 point

So tell us who you would've picked 4th, We'll see how it all shakes out. You have one shot don't say multiple names to increase your odds of picking someone who ends up better than Madrigal. The Sox had one shot at it so should you with a slight advantage of seeing how well any of them have done so far in their assignments.1 point
