  1. Leave it to the players to be the adults in the room.

  2. So the owners big give is giving up a raise they were offering, while the players are giving up getting additional revenues? Gee I wonder why this hasn't been solved yet.

  3. I would call it being realistic.

  4. My union and employer just went through two rounds where no deadline was established and no strike needed to happen. CBA negotiations happen all the time without big time drama.

  5. I just can’t comprehend hiring a defensive oriented HC with the development of Fields being the most important task for this organization. I’d honestly rather have old man Caldwell than any of these defensive guys and that’s terrifying in its own right. I know I’m in the minority here, but get a HC who has proven he can develop young QBs and will build a system that’s tailored for Fields. Daboll is just such a perfect fit based on what we all know, but it’s very possible he’s a got a ticket punched for NY. If he’s not an option, I’d probably roll the dice on Leftwich. Hell, even if they end up being just A to B guys who help Fields successfully grow into a quality NFL QB then it was the right hire.

  6. If it were up to me, eliminate divisions, play a balanced schedule and the top 4 teams advance to the postseason. Expanding the playoffs does nothing but pad the wallets of ownership. Nobody wants to watch a watered down playoff. Idk what the leagues don't understand about "less is more" when it comes to the postseason.

  7. Bummed would be putting it mildly. Why bother with a regular-season at all?

  8. If we end up with 7 playoff teams per league, I am going to be pretty bummed. How do you even structure playoffs with 7 teams?

  9. Owners: That is only one and a half major concessions. We expect more tomorrow if you want to get paid.

  10. I would much rather spend on a real RF who can hit Lefty and catch the ball, but I would not put the Sox above doing something stupid like this.

  11. Evidently Lavine and Green coming back tonight.

  12. At least they got a big lead - but man - crazy how they blew it. Thank goodness they held on.

  13. No divisions with a balanced schedule would be perfect. Of course, there would be no reason to have a playoff since we already would know who won the league fair and square. As an old-time fan that would be my preference but of course, the money made off the playoffs would make that dead on arrival.

  14. Hopefully this is a case of the Bears needing to interview candidates even without a GM in place, as the teams who are only looking for coaches could well steal the top guys while teams that need a GM first would by logic take longer to get those people in place before they could talk to coaches.

  15. So it sounds like they are 100% going to sign a coach before a GM. I don't even understand the logic, the counterargument to hiring a coach first. You're in the market for a GM (possibly president role if you believe DaBearsBlog and those guys) so you're looking for someone to come in and make decisions...but before you make that hire, you're going to hire a HC based on the process led by a 79-year old that has 0 ties to the Bears after this? Why?

  16. That’s fair. They’ve earned the skepticism. Just think they’ve turned a corner. Madrigal was an awful move with shades of the past; hopefully they stop right there. I guess we’ll see in a couple short months. I won’t lose my mind if the Sox sign Castellanos, but I certainly wouldn’t love the move and I’d be more than a bit confused as to what they’re trying to accomplish.

  18. The Sox haven’t been in a position quite like they are heading into 2022 in either of our lifetimes. Obviously the Sox have historically been a team that isn’t averse to signing DHs. That’s no secret. But I just don’t see them them adding another DH to this mix, especially when the near perfect fit in Conforto is out there. Maybe I give them too much credit. But Hahn has built a very nice team. I don’t think he’s going to finish it off by jamming a square peg in a round hole. That all being said, and as I said a couple months ago in this very thread - Nick C can rake and would be fun to watch in a Sox uni. It’s just a putrid fit tho - I don’t see it happening.

  19. Oh yeah, that's some wack shit, same for Jrue.

  20. My dream is that the Bears announced Khan as the VP - and Brown or Poles as the GM. I know a .1% chance of happening - but boy would that excite me.

  21. The Sox won't spend large amounts of money on hitters who can't field and really don't have a position? That's news to me.

  22. I really think Fields upside/comp has to be Josh Allen. I'm not saying they are the exact same player, but there are a ton of similarities in the physical tools, etc. I don't typically over-react and my views aren't just because they had 2 great playoff games, but seeing how Daboll built this entire unit around him, etc - I just felt like it was a no brainer to go aggressive at him (and I was in the camp of - if he worked great with the Bills Asst GM - just let that duo do its thing; I've seen far worse get done). I do think Daboll will go to Giants - but I still wonder if there lack of a QB (and a weak draft) somehow gets him to swing to having a bit more interest in Chicago. That is my hope. With that in mind - if the Bears could somehow get a Khan or Brown or Poles and pair them with Daboll - that is as happy as I can get at this point (I will probably be wrong - but whatever). Note: I still would rip it all up and give Harbaugh a big deal

  23. I agree. It is obvious from the lack of interest in these forums that baseball is hurting itself. Neither side will win if the fans tune out.

  25. That rationale could be 100% true and the donut tweet slipped through the cracks, but it stayed up for half the day before being taken down. And Bucks official Twitter was out blocking people that called out the tweet, including a few affiliated Bulls media accounts. Makes it seem far less a poorly timed accident.

  26. Listen, I know this will seem like wishful thinking, but Breer has been all over the place on the bears for a week. Everyday there is a new freak out.

  27. Bills' defensive numbers hugely assisted by having two rookie QB's and Tua in the same division. Tredavious White being out wasn't any worse than the loss of Mathieu to the Chiefs. You just can't give up 30 yards to Kelce in that situation. If Mahomes had just one play even from the 30-35 yard line it would have been so much tougher to execute in that situation. Still don't understand why they didn't try to get more pressure...by dropping 7, because if you flush him out of the pocket the play length would have likely forced a throw into the end zone.

  28. Unbelievable weekend - but man - why were the Bills not putting pressure at end of regulation. Either way incredible. Feel terrible for Bills for losing. Oh and I will continue to say - give me some Dabol.

  29. Grobber got me through college, always listened to him whenever I was up late working on a paper or a project. Even now, I’d always have him on as I’d leave set at night. Going to miss that weird guy.

  30. Here’s the problem - a very young roster shouldn’t be bumping up against the luxury tax with several glaring holes.
