Note to Eloy.....never do that slide in the dugout like Jose.....never ever.6 points

These kind of posts about athletes are so unfair. As an older adult you should know that projecting what you perceive an athletes personality to be without truly knowing him is "stupid and lazy". It requires no compassion, no understanding and no willingness to do anything except express bitterness over your disappointment with their underachievement. We all do it from time to time. Moncada gets it a lot with the whole he doesn't care and he's got no passion for the game stuff. I'm guilty of it myself. I know this isn't a real diehard sports message board without meatball fans takes and hostility but it's much better to just take a deep breathe and say he's just an athlete in a long line of athletes I've watched my whole life who I don't know anything about except they play for my favorite team.6 points

I'm watching Kimbrel labor through a 20 + pitch 9th with a 4 run lead on tv2 while Pollock pops out on tv1. Need a 3rd TV in this room to watch Madrigal and Heuer sit on the IL.5 points

Popeye keeps hitting and keeps stealing bases. 29 stolen bases for the year, 17 now over the last month. .384 average with a 135 wRC+ over the last 30 days.5 points

I wonder if this lineups up with Colas being seemingly unhappy with the Sox a week or so ago? And his promotion…even tho he obviously deserved it via his play4 points

I continue to be just in shock that Eloy has busted like this. Had never seen a player like him in the minors (Robert happened post-) for the Sox. Just absolutely crushed each level with ease. No K rate issue. Fine BB rate. Huge power. I still worry we’ll give up on him and he becomes Schwarber on another team. Because for whatever reason Hahn feels like we should have an offensive philosophy that plays against our hitters strengths. What DH play even is there? He’s bad offensively.4 points

Gross incompetence by the entire organization's medical and training staff. Fuck this org.4 points

Damn if there was only some way the Sox could have had more pool money or something.4 points

I did not like the acquisitions of Josh Harrison or Johnny Cueto when they happened, but they have become two of my favorite players on this roster.3 points

Get another run or two and it'll even be safe to use Joe Kelly.3 points

My mom doesn't watch a lot of Sox games. She just walked into the room during Cueto's last windup and shouted, "what the fuck is that?"3 points

Typical soxtalk, no one gives credit where it's due. Tony called the "hit a grand slam" play and all we want to talk about is Robert. Where is Tony's credit? Extend Tony.3 points

First of all, Dallas Keuchel is hypocritical scum Second of all, Dallas has tossed his teammates, coaches, and managers under the bus since he arrived at Spring Training in 2020. He has pitched like absolute horseshit outside of a couple of weeks in 2020, sucked so bad the Sox paid him millions to GTFO, and he continues to suck with his 10 ERA in Arizona. He is the worst form of clubhouse cancer, the player who sucks ass, is way overpaid, and does nothing but b**** and suck his entire time here.3 points

Jose Abreu putting up one of the best seasons of his career at the ripe young age of 35 🤔 very Nelson Cruz-esque.3 points

And we wonder why 1) The Sox always seem to have trouble developing player through their minor league system and 2) why no big name free agents will ever sign here. I'm not saying this is the sole reason or even a big reason but this is just a small part of how the organization is run.3 points

Has anyone done a well check on Ron after this thread?3 points

Spotrac calculates something called "production points" which they describe as similar to fantasy points calculated across all production categories. In that ranking, out of veterans (excluding early career guys/first contract guys) Abreu comes in 15th in the bigs and best on the White Sox this season. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/valuation/batters/gmpct-60/veterans/3 points

The five possible scenarios (assuming no rain outs) are: Sox 1 GB of Twins Sox 3 GB of Twins Sox 5 GB of Twins Sox 7 GB of Twins Sox 9 GB of Twins Being 5 GB feels like the absolute bare minimum for salvaging this season. They have to split this series at a minimum. Winning 3 of 4 and getting to 3 GB would feel like a win at the ASB, given how rough this first half has been.3 points

Hahn deserves the criticism for this, absolutely. Having said that, I was optimistic about the performance for most of this list in 2022, aside from Leury and Keuchel. The rest of these guys have just been so disappointing compared to expectations. But it's Hahn's job to find market inefficiencies and exploit them, not be a victim of them. No excuses.3 points

Holy shit they’re actually going to play a man down the entire series against the Twins and then IL him for Grandal after the break and I was too cynical to believe they’d actually do it enough to come post that.3 points

At least I can't be disappointed if they make the playoffs and get brutalized by Houston or the Yankees. That is kinda what was expected.2 points

Because the teams always shared or outsourced this responsibility with the independently owned minor league affiliates. Below the AA/AAA level, there aren’t huge profits and there are frequently losses, although franchise values continue to escalate. The biggest concerns clubs used to have was simply the safety of the playing surface, locker rooms and training facilities. Essentially, the major league teams would have to buy those owners out. Or what has happened to the Clintons and Burlington’s in the past couple decades…they simply disappeared. Further cost cutting. I made it part of my job to help all the Latin American players (especially Dominican) players with finding apartments to rent and even ordering at McDonald’s or providing rides home from the ballpark (for home games), but it was always so messy with players coming in and out constantly, tracking people down for utilities or phone charges (when there were land lines and they used intl long distance constantly), it was a massive headache for both affiliates and their players who were of course owned by the MLB affiliates. Things are better now, but the lower level teams, a lot of the season ticket holders essentially took care of the players. And, as noted, married players or those with fiancé’s or gf’s staying with them the entire summer created a whole separate array of problems. It reinforced the cliques from the beginning, mostly by nationality. First round picks had fancy cars, no roommates and a luxurious lifestyle while the money lasted…relievers stuck together, Christians who didn’t like to go out every night, etc.2 points

Yes definitely we need to take a hard look in the mirror and take some responsibility for this mess as well. We've continued to spend money and show up for one of the worst ownership groups in the land, emboldening them and empowering them further to view us as a herd of doofuses who will just buy $12 beers.2 points

When you hover over the Hawk emoji it should say "You gotta be bleepin' me!" and the TLR should be "huh?".2 points

I like to think that the standard for minor league living conditions can and should improve over time. Is that pampering?2 points

And the bolded is precisely why a change in the dugout needs to be made. I agree TLR probably stays the manager through the season, but you cant ignore the clear narrative change the last week or so. Tony has legitimately no one left in his corner besides JR.2 points

Once a hamstring goes it will always be a weakness but with proper management and conditioning that risk of re-injury can be minimised. But Eloy clearly didn't have a good rehab as he kept having to rest his leg, and looked more out of condition than usual when he came back. You get the feeling that he was brought back too soon and then played in LF rather than DH and the occasional LF to give him time to strengthen his leg back up.2 points
