  1. Andrus is on one of the greatest contract drives of all time. He's trying to erase 5 years of being a total shitbag in 5 weeks.

  2. Katz has been here 2 years, in one of those seasons, the Sox had arguably the best pitching staff in baseball. Cease and Rodon both went from varying degrees of brokenness before he got here to eventually becoming CY caliber pitchers under him. Lopez is another big positive, as you mentioned, as are lower tiered arms like Lambert and Davis Martin. I know this was before he got here, but he also still deserves a ton of credit for helping fix Lucas. He'll have to do it again, but that's *another*example of him taking a broken pitcher and turning him into a CY contender.

  3. So glad that jake Diekman will be on the 2023 White Sox and Manny Machado won't. Nice job, Jerry & Rick.

  4. Snell is a scumbag. Your love for the Padres and their team full off a-holes is so strange.

  5. White Sox fandom seriously needs to let go of the Ozzie Guillen fever dream.

  6. LOL So Andrus steals 2nd, takes off for 3rd on the previous pitch and somehow doesn't think they may try to pick him off ? Andrus with head up his rear. And in the 8th inning down by 3.

  9. Cease doesn't get enough credit for his dependability. I don't believe he's missed a start since debuting in the majors. 32 starts in consecutive years is very impressive.

  10. It's important to keep giving Harrison every day AB's over younger players who will actually be on the team next year.

  11. Give Michael Lewis two years and access to everyone in the Sox organization the past three years, and he'd have a book and movie that would make Moneyball seem like a dull I Love Lucy episode (or The Last Dance, for that matter).

  12. I hope we don't hire anyone that dumb.

  13. Because I'd rather the Sox not lose the one person in the dugout (and possibly the one guy in the entire organization) who uses (or at least tries to use) state-of-the-art analytics. If they are really cleaning house, then that means we will load up with modern thinkers, so fine, he can go. But if it's the culling of a few scapegoats, then it's essential that he stays.

  14. What they should do if they’re going to stick with the balanced schedule starting next year, is just abolish the three divisions. Top 6 seeded in order. Game 163 if 2/3 and or 6/7 tie.

  15. Leury has always seemed like a good guy. He has a great attitude. I think what Tony did to him was unfair, but obviously giving him 3/$15.5m was crazy. I think he’ll be fine as the 26th man on the roster next 2 seasons.

  21. I'm in the minority, but I think TA should be traded. I've had just about enough of his change the game attitude towards baseball. He should be the one changing his game to become a better defensive SS.

  22. I agree, probably the worst seasons in my 40+ years of loving the Sox. thanks so much for posting these every day...its greatly appreciated

  23. Which would be admirable until it becomes farcical given the game situation and already in scoring position.

  24. Or wasting all those at-bats on Grandal... Thats also how we got Matt Ruiz/Jose Foster/Jimmy Lambert.

  25. Here for Cease to throw down one last time. Haven't watched a game since the Cleveland extra innings, but I'd still love to tune in to see Cease end an amazing year strong.

  26. Seems nobody was willing here (including the training staff) to take on LaRussa or question "the Sox system" and it's easy to understand for a relative MLB outsider not wanting to shake the boat like a certain highly touted Coach Lisle.

  27. Again, I see that post and see it as a Sox issue, not an AL-NL issue It’s like getting horrible diarrhea from eating spoiled food and blaming the horrible experience on the toilet.

  28. After completely ruining their own season, if the Sox knock the Padres out of the playoffs, you might be able to hear me laughing all the way from the other side of the world.

  31. True - in my case I haven’t bought a beer in over a decade and haven’t been able to find a job since March… so $10 for this type of thing isn’t in the cards. Yay.

  32. I wanted this sorry ass team to lose out, but if they are going to win meaningless games they might as well spoil San Diego’s season while they are at it 😇🤣.

  33. The entire Reinsdorf tenure has been nothing more than a series of 3 to 5 year rebuilds. He refuses to spend money on elite front office decision-makers and on-field difference-makers. Had he ponied up for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of signing Harper-Machado it would dramatically altered the organization's profile. He should have sold after the 2005 parade.

  34. Would be ok, though not thrilled, with a six team format (Division winners only, best of 3 or 5 # 2 vs. #3, winner plays #1 in best of 7 LCS). 2020 was the only “wild card” appearance in White Sox history. The ten others (no 1901 World Series) were proper division or league title appearances. American League Pennants (8 team league): (1901, 1906, 1917, 1919, 1959). American League Western Division Titles (7 team division): (1983, 1993) American League Central Division Titles (5 team division): (2000, 2005, 2008, 2021). Wild Card Appearance: (2020) I oppose the wild cards in general, and additional wild cards additionally, because it cheapens the 162 “champion season” to merely a seeding exercise, lowering The MLB’s stature to the other three NA major sport leagues. A champion should emerge from a postseason between division or league champions. However, for purely selfish White Sox fandom reasons, one should also oppose additional wild cards and round of playoffs, at least under the current divisional alignment and return to a balanced schedule, because the AL Central will likely produce few if any wild cards, and division winners also have a good probability to be slated as a number three seed, thus requiring an additional fourth playoff round win vs. the previous one (1903-1968), two (1969-1993) or three (1995-2021) rounds previous White Sox teams faced. The White Sox have only advanced more than one round of playoffs one time in the over 50 years of expanded playoffs. A fourth round is another gauntlet, and we don’t have Clint Eastwood to navigate.

  35. Yes, but the 12 team playoff is even worse. Seven or eight team divisions, four team playoff, no wild card BS.

  38. My fear is that they trade some of the younger guys, not to rebuild, but for more old guys, which is the basic FO instinct. A competent FO could retool this and give them a decent chance for next season. Had Hahn done his job, this could have been a 95 win team. His clowning turned it into an 88 win team and La Russa's clowning dropped it down to 82ish. Get the D squared away. Let Abreu go and sign an OF. If Grandal can play D, fine; if not, find a defensive catcher. Try to move some of the old bums out of the pen, even if you have to eat some salary. They could move Anderson; but no need, unless they get a big offer.

  39. I think this recent TA trade speculation comes from fans who are just brainstorming what the Sox could do this offseason outside of running back virtually the same squad. The list of Sox players that are tradeable without taking a bad contract back in return is very, very short, and Tim is on it.

  45. I'd trade Gio, but I wouldn't sell low. The guy I would really like to trade because he seems like he's more about style than substance, but is still a guy who could get you something nice in return is TA. If Montgomery was a year more developed and looked like a regular MLB SS, it would be done. But if you want to win in 2023, you better have a SS, and maybe TA will get back to trying to be the best instead of trying to look like the best.
