  1. I'm hoping the Sox don't f$$$ this up too. Jason wants to be here and the vast majority of Sox fans want him back. This feels like the FO trying to save a few $'s and low ball him since he will miss a few games due to his Fox assignments. Virtually every really good baseball pbp guy has other gigs and their teams deal with it just fine. If the Sox f$$$ this up, get ready for Kasper and Gordo on the call. If that happens I'm watching the opponent's feed. Silence would be better than those two.

  2. We’re waiting for one thing with this organization. You know what it is. Until then, it’s mostly going to be about luck to win anything.

  3. Let me go on the record and say I want a younger manager than Bochy & Washington.

  4. The opportunity to take this team to the next level passed it by and I think it's possibly too late. Ohtani Machado Harper Wheeler Betts Turner Scherzer Soto All available in the past years and none ended up on the Sox. Getting one of the actual big fish was billed as part of the plan if I recall correctly. And they did not and basically gave up on any of them when they lost Machado and Wheeler.

  5. This could be another push me over the edge to stop being a fan. I get sick of Reinsdorf forcing former players on us who are not good at anything.

  6. After reading this article, I’m 100% sure that a multi-year deal for Chapman will be how to Sox will use all of their limited budget this offseason: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/10/aroldis-chapman-to-be-left-off-yankees-alds-roster-after-skipping-team-workout.html

  7. If Benetti stays, maybe by the end of his next contract he will get half way decent at calling a Home Run.

  8. I said "drawing out his insight". Gordo just rambles and uses 50 words when 5 will do. Jason asks him direct questions so his responses are more on point.

  9. I believe the one about Dallas Keuchel and the “Clique”. Keuchel came in the door talking s%*# about how HE HIMSELF needed to instill a “Winning attitude” in the clubhouse, only to s%*# himself in Game 2 of the 2020 playoffs. They probably blame Keuchel for getting Renteria fired (I remember him tweeting his excitement when everybody thought Hinch had the job), so I’m sure they roasted his ass every chance they got. He deserved every bit of it.

  10. The cool thing about it Jason leaves is all the people who complained about hawk ad nauseum and the Jason ad nauseum will definitely not be complaining about the announcers not just monotonely commenting on the action packed ball game.

  11. No one should be untouchable after this s%*# show, but I sure don’t have any hope or faith in the idiots in charge to get it right.

  12. On the Jason thing.... I love his passion for the sox and that after all the obstacles he's done what he's done. That's highly admirable and deserves a ton of respect. But on the flip side there is some things about Jason that annoy the s%*# out of me and if he moves on I wouldn't be totally sad

  14. Agree wholeheartedly. Will need to sign the MLB package to not watch the Sox feed with Kasper and Gordo.

  15. Phillies went from 7 games under, firing their manager, to making the playoffs and beating a pretty good Cardinals team in the first round. If only another team with a bad manager did something similar.

  17. This is so fake it hurt. Although I do believe "Rick Hahn apparently actually does unironically spend hours a day reading fan emails/mail." Rick Hahn perpetually being online to do PR work for himself definitely checks out.

  18. First, let's lay out 2023 contract commitments: Guaranteed Lynn - $18.5M Grandal - $18.25M Moncada - $17M Hendriks - $14M Pollock - $13M (player option with $5M buyout) Anderson - $12.5M (team option) Jimenez - $9.5M Robert - $9.5M Kelly - $9M Graveman - $8M Garcia - $5.5M Bummer - $3.75M Diekman - $3.5M *This assumes White Sox turn down Harrison's $5.5M team option* *Other impending FA's include Abreu, Cueto, Valasquez, and Andrus* TOTAL GUARANTEED = $142M Arbitration Eligible *updated based on MLBTR projections* Cease (arb 1) - $5.3M Kopech (arb 1) - $2.2M Mendick (arb 1) - $1M Giolito (arb 3) - $10.8M Lopez (arb 3) - $3.3M Engel (arb 3) - NON TENDER (MLBTR projection of $2.3M) Crick (arb 3) - NON TENDER (MLBTR projetion of $1.5M) Ruiz (arb 1) - NON TENDER (MLBTR projection of $1M) Crochet (pre-arb) - $700k Gonzalez (pre-arb) - $700k Lambert (pre-arb) - $700k Sheets (pre-arb) - $700k Vaughn (pre-arb) - $700k Zavala (pre-arb) - $700k TOTAL ARB = $26.8M; TOTAL PAYROLL = $168.8M The White Sox 2022 payroll was ~$197M, so this gives the Sox around $30M to spend to match 2022 payroll My Offseason Moves First order of business is announcing Tony is re-retiring, and a full blown managerial search is underway. An entirely new coaching staff with fresh and modern perspectives is sorely needed. Sign Brandon Nimmo to 4/$80M. Jump the market and get it done. He's the best fit on the market and solves a ton of team needs. Sign SP Andrew Heaney (1 year/$9M) There are a slew of options in that $6-12M range, pick one Make the very hard, but necessary, decision to let Jose Abreu play elsewhere. The other alternative here of course is the Sox resign Abreu to 1/$15M or something, and look to trade AV or Eloy for larger roster shakeup. Problem is, this makes signing an impact LH bat in the OF that can actually field his position impossible without a legit increase in payroll. The time is now; let him walk before its too late, but FFS, build him a statue. Total payroll comes in ~$194M, a slight reduction on 2022. 2023 Roster / Lineup Anderson SS, Moncada 3B, Robert CF, Eloy DH, Nimmo RF, Vaughn 1B, Pollock LF, Yaz/Seby C, Mendick/Romy 2B BN: Seby/Yaz, Mendick/Romy, Leury, Sheets *Colas arrives in May, takes Pollock spot in LF, and makes Pollock 4th OF. Sheets goes to AAA* *Other 2B options throughout season include Sosa, Yolbert and Rodriguez* Rotation: Cease, Lynn, Giolito, Kopech, Heaney Bullpen: Hendriks, Graveman, Bummer, Kelly, Lopez, Crochet, Lambert, Diekman *Martin is 6th SP waiting for his opportunity in AAA*

  20. Same. If JR wants to meddle again though, I hope he hires Sandy Alomar, Jr. I don’t understand his motivation other than the older guys might come cheaper. I don’t understand the Reddit report specifically against hiring Espada.

  21. Hard not to improve considering how awful he was. 90% of his improvement comes from Jason drawing out his insight through asking him direct questions. Without Jason, he's toast.

  22. Fields much better today. Two weeks of real progress. Let’s see a third week of improvement against Washington!

  23. Well JR'S mouthpiece has spoken. Don't want to trust this multiple championship roster to an unproven manager. Let's retread "old and safe". Don't hire someone that would demand upgrades to the analytics, scouting, development, and training staffs. Heaven forbid the new guy gets to hire his own coaches...... that would threaten guys like Boston and McWavin's lifetime appointments. Let's hire a guy like the former St Louis manager that will just be happy to have a job and take whatever the FO gives him. 42 years of incompetence and counting.

  24. I’m sure he’s a very nice guy but I HATE Len Kasper’s voice. I hope he does leave.

  25. Washington would be a good hire....... as infield coach. Jeez, can we get young analytics driven coach from a winning organization? Nooooooooo. We get this year's version of TLR. I'm out.

  31. Going into next season banking on Pollock to stay healthy + be productive + and hit RHP would be insanity. I don't think it's a given he can be anything more than a short sided platoon player at this point in his career. A 69 wRC+ with absolutely 0 power at all (vs RHP) isn't something I'd expect a 35 year old with an extensive injury history to bounce back from.
    1 point
  32. Pollock actually hit close to his career averages in the 2nd half of the season and his defense was also much. better. But he's just a frustrating player to watch. Constantly popping the ball up on the infield and not being able to hit RHP gets real old. I think there is a chance he can rebound to being a 2+ WAR player next year, but that's not changing the outlook of this team.

  33. This team can get fucked if it doesn’t do anything in the outfield 😆

  34. If any season should ever have taught white Sox fans about how bad the assumption is that no one will be good enough to challenge them for the division and they will walk away with it easily, it’s this year. No one talked a bigger game without backing it up than the White Sox.

  35. I read this before he removed the backstory. The backstory didn't make a whole lot of sense. Apparently he works at Panera and at the ER? Maybe I misread that part or am misremembering it. Either way, I find it hard to believe anybody would talk this long and in this detail to a stranger about gossip at their job. All this must have taken hours to talk about.

  36. Apparently Jon Heyman is saying he doesn't expect JR to be involved in the process.
    1 point
  37. No, he's not. He's should be hitting 7th and everyone else should have stepped up to fill the void by now. Of course, they havent.
    1 point
  38. Regardless of which one of these rumors are true and and which ones are BS doesn't matter! The disgusting bottom line is, the Sox are still owned and run by the worst pathetic owner in baseball. Sadly nothing is going to change until JR passes away and the team is sold, or he let's his son Michael run it and completely stays out of any decisions and involvement whatsoever.
    1 point
  39. I can believe most of that. The Ohtani offer is not one of them.
    1 point
  40. Sheets has next to no value. He's far more valuable to the Sox as an Eloy injury replacement in AAA / 1 month fill in for until Colas arrives than anything he is fetching on the trade market.
    1 point
  41. Players can only be offered the QO once and Abreu was already offered it last time he was a free agent.
    1 point
  42. 35 year old putting up 4.2 WAR and stability that no one else would offer while being by far the best position player on the team this year is a pretty easy A.
    1 point
  43. Because White Sox fans overvalue their players.

  44. One guy I would think about trading is Hendriks. He's been great. Love him as a person and player but................the Sox would have won the divison without him in 2021 and would have been bad, like they were, without him in 2022. He's clearly in pain pitching now. The pitch clock next year may really bother him, as he will have less recovery time. And he should be worth something.
    1 point
  45. That's what I'm thinking. Even if they don't win it all I can see him saying enough. He's got generational wealth, he's got an MVP, he's played in the playoffs. He's accomplished quite a bit. He's a Sox legend and will get a statue. If he wants to spend more time with his family who can blame him and it might honestly help the Sox if he decides to retire anyways.
