  1. It's going to be active. I'd be kinda surprised if the there isn't a Sox trade.

  3. THis is not directed at you SS2k, but people comping the Clevinger and Boyd deals in terms of "value" are nuts. Boyd and Clevinger are exact same age. Boyd's career: 4.90 ERA, 4.66 FIP, 9.3 fWAR (797 IP)...only pitched 13 innigns in 2022, and zero starts. Has made only 27 starts since 2019. Clevinger career: 3.39 ERA, 4.0 FIP, 12.1 fWAR (656 IP)...pitched 113 innings in 2022 of with 4.33 ERA coming of 2nd TJS. Clevinger at $12M >>>>> Boyd at $10M

  4. We have the 3rd highest wRC+ from the catcher spot over the last five years and that’s including Grandal’s horrible 2022 season. From 2018 to 2021 we actually rank #1 overall.

  5. Not that it matters, but I literally predicted he’d get a 1/$12M deal in my off-season. But again, who cares? We’re all a bunch of hardcore baseball fans with differing opinions, sometimes right and sometimes wrong. No one needs to go on bragging about how big their internet penis is by citing all the times they’ve been right. You’re a great poster, just stay true to yourself even if people don’t always agree with you. The place wouldn’t be fun if we all thought the same thing.

  8. I'll bet the White Sox fully stand pat. Maybe a minor league signing, that wouldn't count.

  9. 2023 Season - Padres: Colas ROY, Giolito Top 5 Cy Young Voting, Crochet either stretched out into a starter or stabilizes the Padres bullpen, Montgomery ends year as #1 prospect. Face Jose Abreu in the World Series. White Sox: Tatis runs into Eloy Jimenez on a routine fly ball, both are out 6 months.

  15. I’d rather go 1/$12M for Clevinger than 3/$40M for Eflin. There will likely be a rotation shakeup next year and I’d rather have money towards a higher ceiling guy than Eflin.

  16. You're missing the part where we sign Yasiel Puig to fill in for Eloy. He is then convicted by the feds 10 days later.

  17. Wow... This makes even more excited that we got Clevinger for 12 when s%*# Boyd got 10..

  18. I've heard a lot of chatter from White Sox fans about having Andrus play 2nd base next year......... Have people looked up what he did from 2020-2022 while he as on the A's??? He just happened to catch fire after being traded to White Sox for 40 games.

  19. Yeah I mean I can't say that Clevinger is the answer, but I sure don't think Cueto is it either. I mean I guess he could have jumping into the Jaime Moyer fountain of youth, but the odds are pretty high that it was a fluke.

  21. I am in less of a hurry to trade our best reliever than others seem to be. Liams $14M is not exactly handicapping this team. If they turned around and signed Nimmo I could perhaps get behind it, but feels very robbing Peter to pay Paul. I certainly would want a lot more than a 26 YO outfielder who isn’t that highly regarded. Outman would be a solid secondary piece in that deal. That said, Liam’s elbow does concern me some and with what relief arms have gone for so far and there being no elite closers available, if you can get a nice package for him that solves other needs, it’d be hard to say no.

  22. I love Cueto but some of you dudes need to understand the reality. He had an incredible year last year (caught lightening in a bottle). He is a year older and practicality tells you that he will not have another year like last. I would rather gamble on a guy like Clevenger, who is 5 years younger and has potentially a higher upside. Again, nothing says this works out but it is the right decision.

  23. Thank you. I was tired of this PB&J slander.

  24. I feel the Sox are more bologna sandwich than peanut butter and jelly. PBJ has a track record of dependability and performance.

  25. Gavin Sheets doesn’t have any more value than a bench piece in a trade, certainly not a starter. I’m not even sure you could get Davis Martin for him if Martin was in some other team. Maybe if the other team was deeper for a 1b and had more pitching than about any other team in baseball.

  26. Oh come on guys this is literally a tweet saying the White Sox May do something somewhere somehow possibly. A tweet saying “the Chicago White Sox are a Major League Baseball franchise” has exactly that same amount of information.

  29. Careful what you wish for.....next man up in JR's family tree would be Daryl Boston for GM.
    2 points
  30. Mets, Dodgers, Yankees, Giants, Cubs, Phillies. Maybe Angels. Not sure about what Boston is even doing. Rangers would have but they already signed 2 IF. Probably a surprise team or two. Doubt there would be a big return, but that’s a gamble worth taking if you can afford a competitive payroll. The upside is still an MVP caliber player.

  32. Tired: interesting that there are only two players (Eloy and Robert) with player-specific promos, don't want to risk advertising something for a player that might be traded. Wired: Sox confirm Hendriks and Giolito will be traded this off-season.

  33. Go for the gusto. A trade that 90% of people here are enthused about that somehow turns into an absolute disaster once hindsight is available.
