I’d be stunned if this occurred. Hendriks might be their best trade asset. They could get a really good prospect haul. They aren’t trading Liam Hendriks for James Fucking McCann. What are we doing? I believe in trading relievers at their peak and if the White Sox choose to do that, I just don’t see the Mets as the destination. 2/29 isn’t a hindrance. It’s a bargain for one of the best relievers in baseball.8 points

the TLR hire immediately fucked the window and we all knew it. Well... 80% of us6 points

Sheesh mets should ask for cease too if they have to give up McCann AND Escobar5 points

3/$48 from the Giants and then fail a physical and wind up with the Mets?5 points

Colas is the savage middle of the order LH bat. It might take a few months to adjust but he should be the 4 or 5 hitter relatively soon. I dont think anyone they get in a trade at 2B is gonna be a 3,4,5 hitter. Neither McNeil nor Guillorme fits that profile.5 points

He didn't win us jack s%*#. The division was garbage and the team was loaded. They should have been better than a 93 win team that got throttled in its only playoff series.5 points

Cohen is worth $17 billion. I was reading up on him. If he loses $200 million a year the next 10 years, it doesn't matter to him. If JR risks losing $100k, he freaks out.5 points

You better be getting Baty if you take on McCann’s salary alone. And honestly, I’d probably want a second piece too. McCann’s contract is bad, the Mets don’t have the space to roster him, and they’re paying a 90% luxury tax rate so he’s effectively costing $23M a season. I’d probably do Liam for McCann, Baty, & Peterson. The Mets are going to be hard pressed to dump James (who else has a connection to him) and Liam is a top 3 closer on a below market deal. They need to pay the f*** up if they want us to further their cause of creating a super team.5 points

Signing Grandal was 1000000000% a great move. Sox need to make more moves like that, not less. Sox fans can't have it both ways and complain that Sox don't sign FAs and then complain when they have to pay them on the backend of their deal.5 points

Yankees DFA'd Luetge to make room for Kahnle. And to think we're paying Diekman $4 million this year to suck when there's a quality relief lefty on waivers...4 points
-
Because we're a fucking cheapskate mickey mouse operation down to the penny and there are absolutely no free lunches (10D) insofar as JR concerned, esp when the FO pushed his boy out. Other than that, there are no reasons for trading LH for salary relief.4 points

Can we salary dumb Joe Kelly instead? JFC I hate this org.4 points

No chance Mets trade McNeil. Also, I don’t think people realize how bad the team would have been without Liam last year.4 points

The more I look at Segura, the more he reminds me of a slightly better version of Josh Harrison. And I don't like that...4 points

Bro if by some miracle you get Baty you keep the young, talented left hander without back issues4 points

And they will choose relief over return push comes to shove.3 points

The signs aren't exactly pointing up for Liam. I have no problem if they want to trade him, as long as they get something of fair value back that fits the team in 2023.3 points

Trading relievers at their peak value is smart baseball generally. It isn't always the easiest sell to a fan base, but there are many examples of faltering bullpen arms. They come and go. We have some decent internal options. I reluctantly want to do a deal, but the return better be good, and one that fills a longer term need.3 points

Ugh please tell me it's not just a pure salary dump? I thought JR OK'd 10D signing without a corresponding salary dump, wtf? If they need salary relief send off Kelly or someone not as valuable. LH should fetch a real return that meaningfully addresses needs. This organization is such garbage.3 points

Jimmy said if he is traded the return would be really good. This isn't really good3 points

Baty has to be included if Hendriks goes to the Mets. The Sox have all the leverage here. Mets aren’t willing to pay up for an elite reliever? Then you’re not getting Liam.3 points

Baty may not be a plug in play guy in 2022. But at that point you have a top 25 prospect to do what you will. Either you suddenly have a pair of "left handed savages" to fit @SoCalChiSox's dreams in Colson and Baty, or a headliner to go after a Marte/Chisholm with a more appropriate swap...or even a Bryan Reynolds. escobar is in fact your insurance. but Baty is pretty damn athletic, and he also hit 21 homers in 106 games last year. He may even be your RFer of the future. Point is, he's good, he's got power, he's got a dominant left hand. I also don't think we get him. But fun trade idea. You legit would have a future of potentially Baty at 3rd, Colson at SS and Kath finding is way. 3 left handed prospects...be still my heart.3 points

WHen you've stolen your fortune, it might be easier to lose some of it. Cohen as big of a crook as anyone who has ever worked on Wall Street.3 points

Lol…that’s five contracts that would be franchise records for us.3 points

They are banking a ton on 38 and 39 year old SP's. Sounds crazy coming from a Sox fan, but if I'm a Mets fan I would have much rather them sign Rodon and another good bat than go all in on Correra3 points

You move Moncada. He's to the point where he shouldn't be cemented into a position.3 points
-
I’ll say this, if Sox trade Hendriks for baty+McCann+Escobar I will eat a hat. And I’ll be happy about it3 points
-
I’m sure you are right. This trade idea is preposterous, but I’m so sick of being the big market team with a small market budget. Nothing would surprise me when it comes to JR being cheap.2 points

Greenburg is just some dude that paid eight bucks for a check mark2 points

Well if it's for salary relief why the heck is McCann being included in these discussions? That eliminates the salary relief right there.2 points

@ptatc It looks like he hasn't signed on since August. Hope all is well with him.2 points

yeah I don't think the giants are a good fit for anything related to near term success.2 points

Lowe is injured and a bad defender. Tampa would hold a parade if they could get Baty for Lowe. I just wouldn't trade Liam for anyone but young talent or a "premium" veteran player (not average; not an up and down player).2 points
-
He can't hit and he can't stay healthy. He's good at defense though. Those all combined don't cement you into a position imo.2 points
-
he's also doing this in a year he's probably lost a pretty big chunk of his worth. There is probably no more fun way to spend money. He figured that out.2 points
-
McNeil and Baty make a lot of sense. I'd rather try to figure out a Baty deal but no way you trade Hendriks without getting one of those guys (especially if you have to (want to) take on McCann.2 points
