  1. I agree, he was never happy about anything. He was bitching about attendance in 1982 even thought that year, at that time, the team had the third best attendance in franchise history. He expected fans to buy into pay TV after years of free TV, and he expected this during a recession when people didn't have money to throw around on entertainment. If he made solid contributions to the club, I don't know what they were. When he disappeared, no one missed him.

  2. Since this team is a dumpster fire, trade Cease while his value is high. That outta help get this thread going.

  3. Because this team is a dumpster fire, just enjoy the game, embrace the career role players, and enjoy the experience. Nothing beats a summer's evening at the ball park.

  4. I've been a fan since 1952 and I'm very close especially after the 2022 season to not giving a **** anymore. At 77 years old not too many things excite me anymore but I might be pretty excited with new ownership, 41 years of JR and company are enough.

  5. Ridiculous no call on a block in the back on the last punt return. The late hit was the right call.

  6. Owners voted not to allow the sale after Kuhn brought up his objections which was why DeBartolo considered suing Kuhn and MLB.

  7. Since this team is a dumpster fire, start Oscar Colás in right field almost every game and banish Eloy Jiménez to DH. Since this team is a dumpster fire, let someone from Soxtalk be the team’s GM at the trade deadline. Since this team is a dumpster fire, let Reinsdorf hand the team to his son and let him bring in new management, replacing KW and RH. Since this team is a dumpster fire, hire a high ranking scout or executive from the Rays, clean house and have that person run this team like the Rays so they might use analytics properly and be competitive on a budget.

  12. Since this team is a dumpster fire, I probably should find something else to do with my time, but all the same, I will watch every game that I can, for as long as I can, just because baseball is a beautiful game, that I love dearly . also, as with every previous season, you just never know..

  13. It’s all relative to expectations. We were sold the idea that this was a team contending for multiple championships. The A’s, Pirates, Rockies and Reds are not even pretending to be competitive like the Sox are.

  16. I would like this team to lose 110 games, hopefully fire everyone, for them to lose fan interest and civic support, and for the fans and others to continue to pressure Jerry to sell. My fondest wish is an ownership change to someone who actually loves this franchise and wants it to succeed.

  17. Benintendi has also averaged only 1 fWAR the prior three seasons (to last year). With Hahn's track record, that seems more likely than than 2.8 of 2022. If we extrapolated 2020 out, closer to -1.5 and it would have been just 2 total fWAR over the course of three seasons for Benintendi. (See Pollock's 2021 3 fWAR, coming out of a similar offense to 2022 NYY.) Feels eerily reminiscent of classic Sox buy high and sell low strategy...like the time we almost signed Alex Gordon at peak value and got bailed out by Royals' sentimentality for a fan favorite and Dayton Moore favorite as well.

  18. Noah Schultz, Cristian Mena and Bryan Ramos could be more likely than that pick too. If some of the things I’ve heard from instructs on Schultz are accurate, I’d imagine he’ll crack a list in the next 6-12 months

  20. I know it is said a lot around here when tempers flare, but it’s been a near constant thought since the Clevinger news broke (and I am convinced the white Sox could have done more to figure out red flags before signing this guy): I think I may have to be done with supporting this team at all until it is under new ownership. I’m very sad about it, and my heart is broken. I’ve never followed a team as fervently as I have the White Sox. I think this string of disappointments since Renteria was fired has just finally done me in. Stuff like this 500 level bar thing just makes my blood boil. It shouldn’t.

  21. This is easy, play Yoan at 2nd. Without the shift, his strong arm on plays up the middle will be beneficial.

  22. This team isn’t as much of a dumpster fire because the dumpster fire that was/is TLR finally got put out. Im not going to pretend like the sky is falling because of the Clevinger situation. It’s unfortunate, but life goes on (for the team, hopefully Clevinger gets what he deserves). I still believe this team is firmly in position to win the Central.

  26. Unfortunately if this season goes like many here fear, they may be shopping TA this mid-season. 1 1/2 years of that extremely reasonable contract might net a nice return

  27. Yup. We talked about that in the other thread, I am looking at a financial mess next offseason equal to this one if not worse, Anderson is movable to clear payroll, they have made it clear they're not thrilled with him internally based on tons of whispers over the last year, and there's an available replacement.

  28. Diamondbacks and the Orioles each have 3 in the top 15, very sad that the best we can do is 38 and 85 and markets like Baltimore and Arizona have 3 each in the top 15. As all of us have said, clean house and or sell the team.

  30. This one is inspired. Also: The Crosstown Clash. During the Cubs series, a section of the bleachers is given White Sox and Cubs themed sock'em boppers that track hits. Whichever fanbase lans the most hits gets a Manfred Runner starting in the 7th inning.

  32. 1. Dig a moat in front of the Cuban Comet stand. You have to board a raft and float across the moat to get your sandwich. 2. Move the shower from the concourse to outside Gate D for the locals. 3. Somehow manage to get even older beer in the KraftKave. 9 month old IPAs are good but are still slightly tolerable. Not sure it is possible but we can try. 4. Ron Kittle is stationed at a random bathroom and when someone tries to enter via the exit door to jump the line, Ron intercepts him and traps him in a 10 minute conversation with lots of touching. 5. M&M George has to get a jacket with the new non-binary M&Ms. 6. The ushers pretend to be frozen all game and only come to life so they can vibe during Tim Anderson walk-up songs like those street performers that only move after you tip them (this only applies to those few ushers that already don't practice this). 7. Elon Musk boring tunnel under the tracks so we don't have to get scared by firecrackers under the overpass while walking to Lot G. 8. White sitting in Section 506 you have to wear VR Goggles which just broadcast a first person view from a live Darryl Boston cam. 9. Lot F is renamed Lot TLR and it allows camping and/or just sleeping it off in your car. 10. Wider seats to accommodate them XXXL thick boys and girls. 11. Ticket taker scanners say "Yes!" in hawk voice instead of just beeping while checking tickets. 12. The gates open early for batting practice. 13. Concession Stand point of sale systems offer if you want to tip 15%, 20% or a friendly critique of their 4 inch neon finger nails that they dug into your Beggars. 14, Scout Section is renamed Snout Section where all patrons must wear an elephant trunk mask. 15. On Family Sundays the kids race Jason Benetti around the bases. 16. Anytime there is boo'ing, a giant Steve Stone fathead pops out of the seat in front of you BLOCKING your view of the game because you are a bad fan. 17. Elvis Night and Pride Night moved to the same date and renamed "Facebook Comments Night". 18. Leury Legend Statue.

  33. Gotcha. I kind of think part of doing it now is - try to ensure you don't make the playoffs and hope you keep the Orlando pick (that said - I get that it creates a different issue). That Vuc trade really was terrible. It completely prevented the franchise from really going anywhere. Giving up that many picks and assets for a player who is slightly above average is just such a massive whiff.

  41. Strengthening and stretching his arm out is 1 thing…but he would also have to develop a consistent 3rd pitch at the same time. He’s been pretty much a 2 pitch pitcher since college. Not saying it would be an impossible task, but just saying that I don’t think endurance is his only hurdle.

  42. Not a Reinsdorf basher but I think he hates the fans. The attendance issues pre-dated JR. I think he might retire soon for a welcome change. New blood is sorely needed.

  43. The simple fact is there are more Cub fans than there are Sox fans. Secondly, the Cubs have a near cult following that no other major league franchise has, and that is something the Sox FO doesn't understand. Finally, there is no obligation for any fan to attend any game especially with a team that has only one World Series championship in nearly 125 years. And any feelings of entitlement that JR has won't change things. All the bitching about attendance changes nothing. Having respect for at least the die hard fans would help. One last fact: the White Sox were the first Chicago baseball team to draw 2,000,000 in a season.

  44. I always found it odd that Einhorn was one of the owners here. He was never happy about anything. He was the one who wanted to move the White Sox to Florida and when that didn't happen he sold most of his shares of the team to JR and he then disappeared from the scene.

  45. Pretty sure that is a sentiment the majority of Sox fans feel, at least to some extent. I was a true believer in the rebuild through 2020, but the org seems to have everything wrong since
