He was their hitting coach last year and they won the Southern League title8 points

The Dodgers have 2 World Series titles in their 11 year run of dominance. There is no amount of talent they could stockpile that outweighs the randomness of October baseball.5 points

Why didn't the Padres trade for Roki's friends and family?5 points

1) This is cool 2) Dear god why are there three fonts, and why does that last one even exist?5 points

If the Blue Jays are trading for space without having a commitment from him, I think that's nuts. There's nobody to spend $2 million on if he chooses the Dodgers.4 points

Sasaki likely left several hundred million dollars on the table coming to MLB early but somehow he's a villain?2 points

2/3s of baseball has no chance to compete financially with the Dodgers and must find other ways to win. But big market franchises like the Yankees, Cubs, Astros, Red Sox, Phillies etc could operate like this and choose not to. Their ownership group is willing to go to levels other teams aren't both in terms of MLB payroll *and* player development. That's why they are the gold standard organization in MLB right now and players like Ohtani (SF and TOR offered him the same contract) + Sasaki want to play there when everything else is equal.2 points

"It was a very difficult decision" lmao yeah okay.2 points

Maybe he and other international players should be subject to a draft2 points

I found it amusing to think that they're hoping Jose LeClerc could get to where he was 23 seasons ago.2 points

He's in a position where he should take on Montgomery from Arizona, hope he rebounds and opts out, and rejects a QO. Get a prospect out of it potentially.2 points

Fisher very much needs to get back into the good graces of MLB so he can move his team to Vegas for real.2 points

Any of the homers on Soxtalk could’ve done his job the way he did it. Unfortunately for him, he came on board when most Sox fans would rather he sign off every game “sell the team”. He would not last long, but it would’ve been heroic.2 points

Ah, sorry I thought he switched TO Armstrong. Schefter, who is great because he is telling me what I want to hear:2 points

Well for starters Toronto is a marvelous international city with a thriving Asian and Japanese community which is welcoming to immigrants.2 points

This is sad. What a great guy. As a student we would sit in LF with a Uecker's Pukers, we’re not leavin' til we're heavn' sign. He would always acknowledge us. When i worked for the Brewers he was great even to the lowest employee. He will be missed.2 points

It also took only the tiniest bit of effort to understand that Maldonado was a problem in Houston's clubhouse. That effort should have been done by the GM or his people and it was not done. This is precisely why we wound up with all those tell-all articles at the end of the year, because basic checks, basic scouting is not done, guys are signed based on reputation. Homework was hard so we didn't do it.2 points

I feel like this is reserved for Deshaun Watson or Julio Urías1 point

The Dodgers are basically the Chiefs/Patriots....but they will soon be able to outspend the Mets and Yankees by nearly 50-100% since Ohtani alone generated an extra $100 million (conservatively) by himself, and now they have the three national stars of one baseball crazy country with the 4th largest GDP in the world all together, unified, now basically backing one team... Are/were those two dynastic NFL teams bad for the league? Well, not if the fans of other teams believe they still have a fighting or at least punchet's chance. SD was on the cusp of stopping LA early three years in a row but made the mistake of starting Cease on 3 day's rest and that was all she wrote. Yamamoto played a key role as well.1 point

I hope the Dodgers win the WS the next five years straight and force cheap bastard teams owned by bums like Jerry to spend. But they probably still won’t because they value MLB royalties via profit sharing over actually winning a WS.1 point
-
I can agree with you on the first part, there really is no scenario where an elite level talent just should be able to enter the league and just pick where they want to go.1 point
-
Exactly this…or make them free agents. Don’t build situations like this where a highly talented intentional player like this just goes “f*** it, I guess I’ll sign with the Dodgers”. But for some reason, there is a subset of MLB fans who like to pretend the Dodgers spend more because their owners are generous with their wealth and want to win more than the other cheap owners instead of simply having access to more revenue streams than the vast majority of clubs.1 point

Which isn’t that crazy considering all the amateurs that agree with teams years in advance1 point

100% Please with the activity splurge we've been seeing in regards to keller. May not lead to anything, but the complete passiveness under Paddy was maddening.1 point

Man, Schriff living rent free in people's heads. To me he was one of the few entertaining qualities of last years SOX/Production (I understand he has got to grow and be better but I was entertained by him)1 point

Instead of Ohtani Guerrero Bichette Sasaki Bregman...how would you feel if your team instead added Gimenez Myles Straw and KeBryan Hayes lol???1 point

He looks great. You can tell how much more physical he is now. Dude's putting in the work. Crazy he doesn't turn 21 until the AS break and he already has over 1000 minor league PA's. His swing looks great too. That back foot action is bonkers.1 point

I’ll have an international article out in the morning that offers plenty of context with Keller quotes etc.1 point

this guy has been pulling a lot of social weight this offseason...always seemed like more of a draft guy. That said that's just so horrifying to read. I sure would like that GM who led the commanders FA run that led to a bunch of productive players over ryan poles who gave a bunch of money to Gerald Everett. there's just no way for me to exist in all of this without being just so so mad lol1 point
