  1. 108mph EV single caps a 3-4 night for Colson

  2. You know the rules. If you’re not spitting out the same bot-like replies about Getz being bad, that means you think he’s doing good and everything is fine.

  3. Lip agreed with you? There's a surprised. There two of you usually have such objective and divergent views from one another.

  4. Extra note from new Statcast swing data: Quero is a major oddball so far. Swing pretty slow and he makes contact very deep into his body while standing further back in the box than almost anyone in the league. Not coincidentally, his bat is angled to the opposite field more than anyone else in the league at contact. While none of that may sound good, a lot of the guys on those extremes tend to be good hitters...but the specific combo from Quero would likely put a lid on just how good he can be. Not going to do a lot of power hitting if you're pushing everything off your back leg with a slow-moving bat. On the other hand, giving yourself all that time to see the pitch probably helps make better decisions.

  5. as we all were saying in the other thread, the Houser signing was obviously a stroke of brilliance

  6. I've made a few snipes at Elko's bat so it's only fair for me to give him props for what looks like solid D over at first base.

  7. McDougal hitting 100 for at least the second start in a row, but left this one after 2IP due to some long ABs. Perez go ahead 3R homer for #10 on the season. Made a run saving defensive play at 2B earlier. Zavala quietly with a .825 OPS in May coming into tonight (1-2 with a RBI so far).

  9. 🤣 You were not being cryptic but you didn't make any point either. I asked you to make a point and you said Houser is old and bad . So your point now has switched to what Lip said. How convenient for you that he figured it out for you.

  10. Well duh. I gave you a chance to clarify you position but all you said was Houser is old and bad. Now you need Lip to help you be more coherent ? Maybe your point wasn't even obvious to you. So youre saying circumstances beyond any GMs control ( i.e. injuries) necessitate picking up less than desirable options to try not to suck as much.

  11. let's remember the market has shifted where position players are worth way, way more than even great pitchers. Alcantara would be a-ok with me for a 28 year old SP with only short-term success and coming off a major injury.

  12. After 48 games, this team has the exact same record (14-34) as last year’s record setting team. They ARE that bad.
    3 points
  13. They're considering it right now. Taylor's stuff is overwhelming AA hitters. If you're no making him a starter, Taylor could come up now. I'm against t, but that seems to be what's happening.

  14. I’ve never liked no doubles set when the bases are empty. It’s hard to get two hits in a row. Give me the defensive alignment that gives the best chance to get the first guy out.

  16. New Statcast swing metrics look interesting for Vargas IMO. Meets the ball on the right part of the swing at an elite level despite having a pretty strong uppercut and hitting the ball way out in front of his body with a pull-oriented bat. Seems to achieve that via a relatively slow swing along with presumably some natural talent ("good hands") Vaughn a little more conventional "let the ball get deep, then swing slow and flat to maximize likelihood of solid contact." Well conventional in one sense but probably unconventional for a 1B

  17. I'm not saying I want Palacios on the team but I will concede that I can see how somebody could have talked themselves into wanting to give him a spin

  20. In a scenario where you could turn Martin into a top 100 position player prospect + another supporting piece or two, you absolutely should trade him. I don't really care that much about control of a 28 year pitcher that could easily turn into a pumpkin at anytime. &nbsp I guess didn't realize Martin was not on the MLB roster when he got hurt. Otherwise he'd have way more service time.

  21. Anyone? I mean, I'd give them Andrew Vaughn.

  22. My positive spin for Baldwin is that although I think his defense in the infield has looked a bit worse than I expected, he ended up getting thrust into the outfield where he showed flashes of potential. Yes, we saw the bad plays that are frankly unsurprising for a guy who is not an outfielder — struggled with the wind, struggled at the wall and going back — but he also made some rather nice catches. Too rough around the edges to feel comfortable using him in the MLB right now, but maybe if you give him a couple months of reps in the minors he can build on the good and iron out the bad. Then you have a really multi-positional bench piece. Brooks also showed more pop (as a LHH) than I expected to see so I think there's a chance he's a MLB bat, even if it's fairly marginal in the long run. You need depth pieces. He didn't have much time in AAA before his call-up last year so it's reasonable to think IMO that he can genuinely benefit from consistent ABs in the minors right now. Josh Rojas and Vinny Capra may not be around for all that long; same could be said for the trio of veteran outfielders (Slater/Tauchman/Benny). There will likely be more opportunities for Brooks to show whether he's learned something from this experience.

  27. If hard hit percent meant as much as they say the Sox might be the 19th best offense in MLB. You'd think if you were always hitting it hard at people you'd move an inch closer to the plate.an inch farther away , change your feet around a bit , open stance a little, close it a little, feet wider apart or closer together. Defenses have you pegged You have to be willing to adapt your stance in different situations depending on the type of pitcher you're facing. Didn't a decent amount of hitters used to do that with small things like moving their hands on the bat, moving up and down in the box. Don't have a lot of hitters adapting depending on the pitcher while pitcherd always adapt to individual hitters strengths and weaknesses. Don't know how well those things ever got covered by the press. Anyone know of any players in particular who were known for that. Pete Rose maybe ? Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs , Rod Carew ?Mightve been more common with players who were more contact oriented. Isn't that what the Sox are preaching ?

  28. I'm still in the Davis Martin is not good camp, so I'd take any top 100 for him.

  29. With very poor advanced stats. You'd run away with this deal. Martin is more likely AAAA pitcher on an average team.

  30. No one should be surprised that he can't hit major league pitching outside of running into a few homers. Which honestly makes him way more interesting than a few guy they still roster.

  33. This White Sox team is pathetic. They simply cannot hit for some reason. Our so called top players are hitting under .200. This team could not compete at the AA level. Getz should have already been fired. This season is another disaster. Find some front office people from successful franchises.

  34. Fine with Brooks going down, but my god hurry up Tauchman so Palicios will go away.

  35. Sure, but until that point, this is an exercise in jerking off Cub fans. Remember all of the Sox front line pitchers have taken a step back this year in terms of their prospects. We don't have extra pitching in the system.

  36. Well, you should be saying that.

  38. Before the season I posted here that I hoped the Sox would play meaningful games after Memorial Day. 😆😆😆😆😆 Time to break out the CD's and DVD's and tapes of better days and winning seasons. 4th, 5th and 6th hitters in the lineup tonight hitting .186, .195 and .185 🤡

  39. RHP Jairo Iriarte assigned to ACL White Sox from Charlotte Knights. Trying to do the pitching equivalent of Colson for him, apparently. Brandon Drury was released as well...didn't notice that. Obviously White Sox don't need hitting at all.

  41. "The demise of the 2024–25 Orioles and the window that never was is another example of why front offices need to stop talking about building “sustainable winners.” Windows for most clubs, other than the richest few, open and close quickly. When one does open, as it did for the Orioles in 2023, teams need to pour their resources into the moment rather than trying to foolishly think they can sustain success. Think the 2015 Royals getting veterans Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist to finish off that core group." si.com

  42. And now we are hoping he can be traded for a single top 100 prospect.

  43. And Getz was terrible at developing consensus 1st round talent over and over again.

  44. I’m completely out in this front office if Grant Taylor doesn’t come to spring training in 2026 as a starting pitcher. I understand the innings restrictions and using him in big league bullpen to end 2025. If they’re already convinced that he’s best served as a high leverage reliever though, they’re morons.

  45. What we’ve seen from Quero isn’t the whole story. He’s got some pop. I expect 15-20 HR out of him once he settles in.
