  1. Lol, the Sox aren't adding payroll. No way, no how, not for YEARS.

  2. Fantasy - not sure how you would even think this would be possible

  3. Oh by the way the White Sox aren't moving to Portland either. 😉

  4. It was very well done. Probably 20,000 in attendance. Interviewed a few of his teachers and friends that are still local. Had some video well wishes and stories. Cardinal Cupich asked some kids questions. Music by some different people and the Leo high school choir. Mass was in English Spanish and Polish at different parts. Played the Peruvian national anthem and the national anthem because of his dual citizenship. Pope Leo's address was very well done probably 10 minutes long. Talk a lot to the youth and how they can shape the world. One of the funniest parts is during the mass when everyone stood up and sat down at the exact same time you could hear the creeks of all the seats. Since it was quiet for mass the sound was really loud and everyone started laughing including the Cardinal. Overall a very fun and interesting experience. First time at a mass in a ballpark, mass by a cardinal and hearing the Peruvian national anthem.

  5. Lets please not start this again, it's not true. he has been the high man on Braden M . He was the low man on Colson but the reason for that is he was observing and reporting (and as it turns out, correctly)

  6. Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but Bannister was tweeting some Schultz-related stuff. There must be some good reason they want him in Charlotte over Birmingham working on stuff.

  7. So you are comparing the current version of Civale to back when the Indians traded him to the Rays and he was 28 years old, had great numbers as a starter in the first half of 2023 (2.7 bWAR, 2.34 ERA), earning just $2.6 million that season, with another two years of team control? Uhhh no. Your comparison isn’t even close. I think you are bogarting the bong too much to even share it with @champagne030.

  8. How does adding a 28yr old DH help the White Sox?

  9. Should have called the Red Sox and flipped him for Devers.

  10. The package is terrible because Giants took on all of the money.

  11. I appreciated Bannister's tweet although I think you could read it as an indication of an underlying problem that Noah maybe hasn't yet fixed. Walk rate is still through the roof after all, so I would have thought the metric for success here would be to keep him laying off the cutter until he can fill the zone with the other options. That said, I'm not going to freak out about the promotion. Maybe they want Noah to get roughed up a little bit to get him to learn a little bit more about the consequences of not being on top of your game.

  13. Always makes me laugh how obviously good-natured Schriffen is with the sole exception of his complete intolerance of bad ball/strike calls

  18. How about this kid's first start. No hitter through five plus, stumbles on mound, leaves game. Second rounder 2022. Signed for $2.35 mm

  19. Why would the White Sox park a Ferrari of a player in the alley next to their cardboard box of a team? It's pissing away money they don't have for no good reason. You adding a Devers when you are good, not historically bad.

  20. Seriously. The Sox aren’t a Devers level hitter away from contending.

  22. Wolkow is one of my guys who I grade based solely on strikeouts. And holy s%*#, he's barely striking out right now! George hitting homers in bunches doesn't impress me much — that's table stakes for Mr. Bunyon Wolkow. Going on a stretch of a couple weeks with a very low K rate is a really positive development and not something I thought he was capable of even in a pretty small sample.

  25. I thought with Ishbia buying into the team I'm hoping he pays some money for some good players. It would have been a great PR move for the team if they had traded for Devers. It looks to me like the Giants didn't give up much of anything for Devers.

  26. Tray concurs. Abysmal road and one run records... too embarrassing to recount. Feels like this week is back to draft pick positioning with some of these lineups. No power... no dominant pitchers out of the pen other than Taylor potentially. With Teel up now...feels like a HUGE wait time for Braden and Bonemer.

  29. Wish that the Sox didn't have their AAA team in Charlotte. Really gives you unrealistic expectations of these guys.

  30. For some reason on Father's Day it made me sad thinking the Sox over the past couple years made it to where thousands of us now don't care if our favorite team wins or loses. In the spirit of sports, that's very sad. I mean out of all the Sox fathers and sons and daughters watching the game today on TV (albeit not many), none of them care if we win. Jerry you must be so proud of your team/franchise. What a crock Jerry. At least we have cool hats to give the kids.

  34. I think more young Sox fan rock 'n'rollers including me wanted to see the Sox back then for a great price so me , one of my brothers and Dad went. Less people want to go to a Pope themed mass in a ballpark. Ptatc said there was 20K there. Disco Demolition estimates vary. It was SRO and lots of people were turned away . Maybe more than 60K showed up. Plus it was highly advertised on WLUP the rock station promoting it. The Mass was a lot more low key.

  36. I like Elko because he seems like a good guy who has been making the most of his talent and had the reputation of a gamer which translates to leader. He's been successful at all levels. I know MLB is best in the world and Elko may not ever succeed there even if given a bigger chance which is hard to come by with his pedigree. Enjoyment of games is not based purely on winning or losing in the current state of the franchise. As a fan I try to imagine sitting next to his family in the stands. I wouldn't be yelling "Elko you suck" like some crazed maniac who discards people's feelings just because I paid for a ticket and think I now have the right to be a dick . I saw a video recently of a Sox fan in Houston who pushed a guy after he had a drink poured on top of his head from behind. He then got viciously punched in the face by another Astros fan. I have no idea what led to all that but some fans are assholes and just wearing an opposing teams uniform sets them off. I went to Sox game in Dodger stadium with my Dad and 2 kids when they were all visiting me at the same time. Very rare occurrence since my Dad lived in Oak Lawn and me in So Cal and my kids took a Greyhound from AZ. to see me since they lived with their mother. We weren't loud or on obnoxious just 3 generations of a family enjoying baseball. I may have had a Sox hat on. Probably in my mid 40s at the time .Some assholes sitting about 5 rows behind me threw peanuts at the back of my head a couple of times. What am I supposed to do surrounded by Dodgers fans with 2 children who were tweens and my Dad who was probably in his late 60s at the time? It gives you a greater appreciation of how to act as a fan. It doesn't matter if it's a game thread or at a game. So brave of those 2 young adult males to get a kick out of trying to provoke me into a confrontation when it was apparent it was a family outing. This is why fans piss me off a lot more than players.

  38. Elko is the only person who has any power and they keep sending him down to the minor leagues. If I was him I would ask to be traded or released. Obviously he's not wanted here in Chicago. He's now being replaced by Noda who has no power.

  39. Right now? No question OF. He has played a a lot of CF this year. For a huge guy, he runs very well. Throws well too. Big question is the hit tool.

  41. To me Andrew Vaughn represents everything about that was wrong about the previous iteration of the White Sox. He was a 1B/DH taken with a top 3 pick (ahead of Riley Greene, CJ Abrams, and Corbin Carroll), bad strike zone judgement, lack of power, and no defensive value whatsoever. I read the reports about him not being a good teammate or a hard worker, maybe Lance Lynn rubbed off on him. Truly one of the worst players I’ve ever seen. I’m glad the Sox were able to get something of value for him, but I was a proponent of them non tendering him in the offseason and moving on but I’ll give the front office their flowers on the trade they made.

  42. Now 3-3 hitting .230. Love to see him hitting singles. The power is gonna play eventually, he just needs to be a good hitter. The rest will take care of itself.
