  1. I don’t know if Ishbia will be any good, the the day he takes over can’t come soon enough. It’s ridiculous JR won’t give up control. Look at the record, you don’t know what you are doing.

  2. I’m not making any judgments. Having the worst record in baseball since 2023 isn’t a judgment. It’s fact.

  4. Man our standards have just disappeared. Vargas is on pace for about a 3 WAR season, and that is the best of the lot. And that is "surprisingly good".

  5. If only we had 3 more victories in a lost season, and traded away all of our prospects worth anything and then spent a quarter of our payroll for a guy who is merely ok at 3rd. If only

  8. Well I was under the impression that once Ishbia took over, the payroll would immediately climb to top 3 in the league and sign and trade for everyone

  9. All so Vinny Capra and Josh Rojas can get their sizeable flaws dogwalked all over MLB instead.

  10. "Yeah, it's dumb but does it really matter." White Sox should consider this for their marketing slogan... maybe even put it in the tunnel leading to the dugout so every player can slap it as they come out.

  11. Well, Miguel Vargas is 13th of 19 amongst 3Bs with his 1.3 fWAR, so I would love you see your "standards"

  12. Listen, I'll admit part of me is envious of you. Your ability to detach from reality and live in a fantasy world is pretty impressive. You reference letting "history" cloud my judgement, as if I'm citing what the 1974 White Sox did has some baring on what's happening in 2025. I'll repeat myself for the folks in the back: Since the start of the 2023 season, the White Sox are 125-272. They have been the worst team in baseball over that stretch. We're still in that stretch. It's happening..right now. Lastly, you're on this crusade against those that are too negative, using phrases like "spare me your angry tears that blind you so much." I'm not going stop you from trying to sound like drunk Shakespeare, but it seems like you may be the angry one? I don't watch the White Sox. A few weeks ago I watched about 6 innings of a Shane Smith start, and it was the first game I had actually spent time watching. For the very limited time I spend around the White Sox, 95% of that is spent here. It's upsetting their poor management has led to my lack of interest, but I'll start to care more when ownership cares more. I'm not crying, I'm not angry. All I did was state objective fact to you. They have the second worst record in the league in 2025, and have been the worst team in baseball over the last 2.5 seasons.

  13. It's some sort of a desire to have a veteran presence on the roster. I'd like to also have a veteran presence on the roster - just ones are actual major league players with plus skills.

  14. We continue to have the absolute dumbest "roster crunches" in MLB history. Just fucking cut Slater and Capra and bring up Fletcher and Baldwin. This isn't complicated. Slater is the wrong side of a platoon and sucks anyways. At least baldwin and fletcher are LHH and under 30.

  15. The Giants are in second place in the division and the first wild card team in. Their situation is not the white sox. Who the f*** cares about what Boston fans think about their return? How does that impact anything here? I know you feel that Devers would have made this team a 100 game winner in no time, but there is little evidence to support your theory

  16. Schriffen was put in a tough spot with his job, but I'm starting to believe the reason he was hired was because he was so clueless and doesn't know bad baseball when he sees it. You listen to the broadcast, you would think the Sox lead the division by 10 games and have the next decade where they can only dominate.

  17. Not knowing what they have in Sosa Baldwin or Elko by the end of 2025 is just completely illogical...

  18. I will just never get the argument playing guys like Capra, Rojas, Noda over guys like Baldwin and Elko. We aren't competing, might as well see what the guys can do, if they suck who the f*** cares? Maybe they can make adjustments similar to Vargas, you just don't know. But you know what you have with the other 3, they also have no trade value anyways so what is the point
    2 points
  19. It's pretty obvious they have no interest in playing Baldwin at SS unless it's in a pinch. I'd personally play Meidroth at SA nearly everyday, and with AV and Elko gone, Sosa can cover 1B opening 2B for Baldwin. But they aren't ready to cut bait on Rojas. Regardless, Baldwin will get plenty of ABs in Aug and Sep.

  21. So they are stopping Baldwin from being in the majors because he has a flaw that MiLB pitchers don't exploit or expose, meaning he won't get practice to fix it. Brilliant.

  24. Regarding the latest proposed site plan: It doesn't look like there is any access directly from Clark street (which ramps down for several blocks along the RR tracks). Anyway, I am wondering about details of the proposed ramp at the intersection of LaSalle and Randolph. Do you suppose that Related is proposing a stoplight at the top of that ramp? I can't discern that detail on the site plan. Also, how steep would that that ramp need to be in order to work down to 13th St. ? Something like S. Kedzie next to the former Nabisco plant ("Nabisco hill" as we called it when we were kids) ?

  25. IMO, one has to watch or attend a lot of games in order to make sweeping judgments about this team. Quero, Teel, Vargas, and Meidroth have been surprisingly good and fun to watch ... if you enjoy baseball or the White Sox. But it's your ballgame here so whatever.

  27. I don't know.Nobody thought they get anything for Vaughn and they got a guy whos not useful for the future beyond this July most likely, but he is still of more value than Vaughn in helping preserve young arms and likely to fetch a minor prospect if he traded . If I have to keep hearing from angry fans because the Sox were historically bad then vets who play along with the youths to become a better than historically bad team should be tolerated for what little you can get for them. If one turns into a Tatis Jr. or even a guy who hits a PH GW HR in a playoff game in 2031 no one will complain. The Siths can't have it all their way continuously whining about the record then saying the record doesn't matter, just dump all the vets for the youth immediately. That's not how teams operate. I'd love to see Baldwin getting MLB AB right now too but do you honestly think waiting another month is going to screw up his whole career ? Most people are already penciling him in as a good super utility guy . He could be so much more than that but he won't be until he's seeing every day MLB AB for at least a good 400 ABs to see if he can make any advanced progress like he has in the minors. Hopefully that comes where the Sox have the most opportunities and that's in the OF.

  29. And spare me your angry tears that blind you so much that you can't see that my "that's over now" comment came in response to " having that worst team in the history of the sport" which I took to mean the 2024 season which is now over and a part of history as the writer said. And I will not spare you or anyone else my opinion which was pretty calm and courteous compared to your sarcastic response . As you said "go nuts" and I'll continue doing what I do. I am actually puzzled that you pretend that everything is the same as it was last year. There's much more positive things happening that you would expect on a developing team on a year to year basis starting at rock bottom. Getz didn't even manage to get his full nucleus of coaches in until this year . Yes,historically, you were generous that the franchise has been mediocre but it's possible if the sale to the Ishbia's holds up that you could be looking at a Renaissance era of White Sox baseball. Maybe everything isn't so bad if you don't let history cloud your judgement. And I'm sure it's of little consequence but they set the record for most losses but were not "the worst team in MLB history. This article placed them at 39th worst using advanced metrics and comparing them to league average. https://theanalyst.com/articles/2024-chicago-white-sox-worst-team-in-mlb-history Have a sunny day.

  34. I went to the game last night and after the Cardinals scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning alot of the fans went to the concourse areas to buy food. It was $5.00 food night. The fans knew the game was over. By the 8th inning most of the remaining fans left were the Cardinals fans. Last nights White Sox lineup has to be the weakest in MLB. The only person missing was Josh Rojas. If the White Sox offered a trade package of Capra, Slater, Taylor Robert Jr, and Rojas to any MLB team you might get a bag of balls in return. I've always thought this seasons goal was to get as low of a payroll as possible. Next years payroll will be even lower. In the meantime as long as JR is running the show the team is going to keep losing 100 plus games every year. This losing on purpose is so wrong. I wish MLB would step in here and do something about this.

  35. Very disheartening. But a lot of this is Getz own choices with the roster. Capra, Rojas, Slater, Taylor, Noda should be nowhere near this team. There is not a legitimate reason to have a single mediocre or worse veteran on this team, much less 6 of them (let’s not forget Benintendi, but he’s sort of forced). They contribute nothing. The Sox would get more benefit from any and all of Jelks, Fletcher, DeLoach, Lee, Elko, Baldwin and others from Charlotte playing instead of those veteran clowns. If one of the Charlotte crew finally puts it all together, it’s a huge win for the Sox. He's got some big trades he needs to make too. And it's not just Getz. Shirley too. A lot of bluster from the Sox drafts, but so far it's Crochet 5 years ago (and he was really for the bullpen).

  38. We are despereate for a position player superstar. Someone that can just hit 280/350/500 with 30 HR and solid defense. Someone to give us a nice 5 win head start on replacement and more importantly reason to tune in every night. Maybe Colson can be that guy, maybe his younger Montgomery can be, maybe even Vargas, but right now at best we have a few solid regulars and 7 or so guys position player wise with no future and no past that play too often.

  43. And look, even if he needs some work, he obviously isn't getting that at Charlotte. These guys are all going to have to learn on the job eventually. The question is, should it be now while we are one of the worst teams in baseball, or when wins actually matter? That is unless these guys have that little faith in their development programs that they would rather send Vinny Capra out there on a daily basis than start one of their own guys.

  44. This is from the Sun-Times morning newsletter: Ballpark Mass: Pope Leo XIV brought thousands together at Rate Field on Saturday for a Mass and to celebrate his papacy, marking a historic moment for the local Catholic community and a point of pride for the city. The event, hosted by the Archdiocese of Chicago, drew an estimated 30,000 people and included a livestreamed address from the pope. It was the pontiff’s first direct address to an American audience since being elected last month.

  45. I got the same $20 00 Sox only deal only, last Sunday. The app is compatible to my Samsung tv. I’ve had the exact problem you’re having but have been able to correct it somewhat. When you are watching hit the enter button and notice that above the progress line near the bottom of the screen (I don’t know what it’s actually called) there are three icons above the line over on the right. Click or touch on the one furthest to the right which is for Video Quality. With mine set to the lowest number (249p) I only get occasional buffering and it’s almost always when breaking to or from commercials and when that happens I then I switch back to the small screen which won’t be buffering and then back to full screen. Last night but only buffered a few times during the entire game. At the highest setting (1080p) it buffered constantly and I tried “all” the video quality settings including automatic and the lowest (240p) is the best for me. I guess the higher the video quality the slower it can take to load especially commercials. I had the same problem with closed captioning but middle icon where you find the video quality is for closed captioning. If it says it’s off but it’s still on closed captioning go back to it and click it on wait a few seconds and click it off.
