Seems like the consensus is everyone thought Grifol Shoulda been the guy in 2019 for the Royals, but the royals did their very best White Sox impression and anointed Matheny God Emperor

So we hire a manager that's good at analyzing shifts the year MLB outlaws them.
You can look at it like that, or view it as a guy that understands what the nerds are telling him.

Hell he could not be Jesus enough for KC. They are in their own world.
That was Dayton Moore's schtick wasn't it?

At this point i'm just glad that LaRussa is gone, and that it's not Guillén . wonder how different things might have been, if Grifol had started the 2022 season.
They maybe win 3 or 4 more games. Wish Tony was THE Problem, but he was only A Problem

Solid hire and at least like what I am reading but why do I feel we are in for a bumpy off-season?
because it's the White Sox

This is a fair point.
While in the abstract, getting a C+ on a midterm is nothing to write home about, it can be if you're a D student.
I think grading a managerial hire immediately, with the exception of very obvious F's ie TLR or Ozzie, is basically impossible

Seeing people saying it's a bad sign that the royals passed on him, but, uh, why would a new GM want to hire in house when you're taking over a dumpster fire

Sure, why not.

Obviously not making excuses for him but weren't the Hader tweets years before the fact? While still reprehensible, people grow up over time and hopefully Hader is not the person today that he was then. Seems like his teammates thought to give him the benefit of the doubt based on what they knew about him.
Donaldson has proven over and over that he does not deserve that same benefit of the doubt, and his teammates reactions just reinforce that.
We’re agreeing here

Some of the "TA is the real RACIST" takes on Yankees blogs and forums are batshit insane however.
These are the people telling on themselves. Why are they mad at TA and not, yknow, the guy who actually called it racist in Tony.

Remember when the Milwaukee crowd gave him a standing ovation?
I don’t really care about the fans, cuz fans in general are blind.
All I’m getting at is Lorenzo Cain backing up Hader after the n-word thing is a stark contrast to all the Yankees throwing JD under the bus.

So far the only two Yankees to speak out buried their teammate. You don't see that very often at all.
Remember when Josh Hader got caught using the N word and Lorenzo Cain went out and told everyone he’s not that guy?

People who are saying he shouldn’t have been suspended are absurd.
he should be suspended for causing two dust ups against one team in one week as a baseline.

Lance Lynn coming off finishing 3rd in the Cy Young and Soxtalk all the sudden pegging him for bottom of the rotation
He’s also coming off knee surgery and no spring chicken, so it’s not exactly unwarranted to be like we gotta see how he looks.

Kinda hilarious that both of the last two seasons we went in think the rotation was fucked and then turned to wait do we have the best rotation in baseball?

I love TA I hope he’s here for a long time.
But I get the idea he’s the type of player whose game falls off a cliff as they age. Let’s let him get to 32 before we have this convo.

I don’t think it’s very hard to imagine an MLB organization would get jumpy at the idea of a gay man being a trainer, or maybe more specifically players having a problem with it.
but I think it’s just as reasonable to think that the person who told Ball was acting on a hunch.

Too scary to be in agreement with KyYle, but no choice on this one…yikes.
(Although I do think looking back retrospectively we reached a bit of a premature conclusion on Bauer. MLB still doesn’t even know what to do, so they keep on punting the problem down the road…a proverbial hot potato.)
They just suspended him for two years

I’m going to run someone’s nose in it if this is settled out of court with a bunch of nondisclosure agreements? That’s rather amusing.
What you folks did was the easy thing. Declare if something obviously bad happened and we all know it then the person who did the discrimination is bad! Congrats! That’s rarely how these things work and we all know that. So why is it ok to declare what you all did but bad to challenge anyone on the more likely unclear scenarios?
Hey man, if you wanna run with this that’s fine, more power to you.
But why are you still here if you’ve already made up your mind.

Yes knowing absolutely none of the facts I think it is high time that Major League Baseball step in and force a sale of the team.

Exactly. So if every detail happened and they settle out of court, no consequences? Everyone ok with that?
You’d have no idea this is the case

If Robert is actually hurt, you can't blame him for that. There's no way to protect yourself running into a brick wall like that.
Blaming anyone for getting hurt is ducking stupid.
