Right now he isn’t doing anything right. What really concerns me is when he was drafted he was thought to be very advanced, and selective. The first time I saw him bat in a spring training game, he only swung at strikes. He seemed destined to be a 90 plus a year walk guy, high OBP and big power. The two scouting reports I read were he was the second coming of Goldschmidt, and another said he was Konerko on steroids. He’s nor even Lamar Johnson on steroids.

His brain is baseball mush right now.

A trip to minors to work on his game and free his mind will do him wonders.  BUT he plays for a s%*# organization who has no concept of how to help him.

He is already broken but if they don't help this kid they will destroy his mlb career.

It's getting kind of depressing in here so I wanted to highlight some bright spots in the org.

    • Crochet is a building block. 31 Ks in 4 starts isnt a fluke. We all knew this one.
    • If Andrew Vaughn was hitting in the way Gavin Sheets is hitting .270/.391/.541 we would be pumped. Gavin is only a year older than Vaughn so just pretend they switched bodies.
    • Nastrini looked awesome today, He didnt have the best results in AAA, but 13ks in 7 innings is something
    • Colson Montgomery homered in two of his last three games. Colson's pop is on the top of my watch list this year.
    • We will see what Cannon does tomorrow but hes had a solid showing in AAA so far (2.79 ERA over 9.2 innings)
    • Brooks Baldwin was an 80 Grade name and is a 23 year old in AA with a .985 OPS in 26 ABs and has more BBs than SOs. Hes a 2022 12th rounder who had an .800 OPS across A ball last year
    • Wilfred Veras is a 21 year old at AA Birmingham with a .941 OPS in 34 ABs. He hasn't taken a walk yet but is 12 for 20 with 2 homers when he puts the bat on the ball.
    • Edgar Quero (also in AA) has 4 homers already this year in 25 ABs. Hes a catcher that was acquired in the Gio/Reylo trade. Hes 21 years old and is a legit top 50-100 prospect that is MASHING. Plus he's Cuban which is fun.
    • Ky Bush was acquired with Quero and had a very solid start to open the year in AA (5IP 1 ER 7K)
    • Drew Thorpe who was a huge part of the Cease return has dominated in AA. He's a 23 year old 2022 draftee that has a .82 ERA in 11 innings with 15Ks to 2 walks. Him and Schultz (getting to him later)  are the two most important pitching propsects and they are dealing.
    • Jairo Iriarte (22 years old)  was also acquired in the Cease trade and has also been dominant in AA. He hasn't given up an earned run in 8 innings and has struck out 11.
    • Last years first rounder Jacob Gonzalez is about the only guy hitting in Winston Salem (A+) but he's the most important by far. Hes slashed .281/.410.438 in 39 PAs. He also has 6 BBs to 5ks. I imagine he'll work his way up to AA by the end of the year.
    • Noah Schultz is a guy. He's had 17 ks and 2 bbs in 8IP in A ball. The 4.50 ERA is deceptive and I think he'll work his way up faster than Gonzalez.
    • 2023 6th Round Lucas Gordon has dominated in Kannapolis so far this year. In two starts he has 16ks and 3bbs in 11IP. He was dominant last year but the walk rate was way too high. If he continues on this path he'll be a legit prospect. A college pitcher should probably be succeeding in A ball but hes a lefty that generates K's and that always plays. He's not a Fangraphs top 30 guy and his South Side Sox prospect #59 due to bullpen risk/lack of upside but hes doing everything that can be asked of him so far.

Pitching wise the Sox systems future could be a lot worse than Crochet/Nastrini/Cannon/Shultz/Thorpe/Iriarte/Bush.

Hitting wise Colson is coming around and Quero is a rising prospect. If Gonzalez keeps hitting he'll be grouped with those two before the end of summer. This is far from an exhaustive list of quality propsects the sox have but some guys have had rough starts or are hurt to start the year,

I appreciate the positive outlook BUT this is a dumpster fire.  Not much, if any positives here if you have expectations of watching a winning team anytime soon.

Getz thought he was really smart by signing low bargain players and having them create a culture and catch lightning in a bottle.  His culture sucks because winning creates cultures!!  They are a loser organization with a loser owner, a loser GM, and a loser manager, with losing players.

They have lied too and cheated their fan base.  There is not much hope going forward as most of their prospects are fringe prospects outside of Schultz, Montgomery, and maybe Ramos.  They will not spend any money on real free agents and will continue to sign garbage guys like Benintendi and Maldonado.

THIS SUCKS and hurts my soul as a White sox fan!!!

    F you Jerry!!!!

In a debacle such as the 2024 White Sox, one can always point out to that specific moment where it all started to go to sh$$#$%t.  A case in point - The NBA's Detroit Pistons - The draft where they passed up on both Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade to Draft that European monster, Darko Milicek.  They haven't been relevent since!  For the Sox, I go back to when their glorious owner insisted bringing Tony LaRussa out of retirement - or a nursing home - to manage the Sox.  At the same time A.J Hinch was sitting out their looking for a managerial job, and I , for one was screaming for the Sox to hire him. They did not - and now look at what Hinch is doing in Detroit.  Of course, it does take more than a manager.  It takes a knowlegeable GM and an owner willing to open his wallet.  This off season the Tigers went out and brought in some proven Major league talent in Mark Cahna, Gia Urshela and Jack Flaherty....while the Sox bring in the likes o Nicky Lopez, Braden Shewmake (who???) and Dominick Fletcher (who???).  Others were out there: Soler, Hernandez, Renfroe, Merrifield, Gurriel, Chapman, JD Martinez - just to name a few.  And there were pitchers available as well, but the braintrust  - and I use the word brain here modestly - chose to go with the likes of Deivi Garcia, Dominick Leone, Brian Shaw, Tim Hill (who???)...Someone explain to Reinsdorf that in today's world of MLB, and sports in general, you have to spend money to win....and even if you are good at identifying young talent, as soon as they make it big you have to SPEND MONEY to keep those players. Jerry: do you really want a fan base who is simply waiting for your time to come?  Sell now to someone who cares.

Agreed.........this whole thing fell apart the minute they hired LaRusa.  Not because Tony does not know baseball but because he was the wrong manager for this team.

I am just saddened and miffed by the fact that Jerry just does not give a flying F about the state of the organization, the perception of the organization, and the Fans.  I understand I should not be miffed by this but it boggles my mind that he could be this.....

I thanked Jerry when we won in 2005.  I thought he would keep the momentum going with this organization.

He sat through the press conference last year when Kenny/Rick were fired and said "I owe it to the fans."  Then proceeds to have Getz put this roster together.  It infuriates me that I am a fan of this team.

I try not to pay attention to this team but i don't know how not to pay attention.  I have looked forward to summers and white sox baseball ever since I became a young fan in 83 BUT they have sucked the life out of my baseball fandom.  I hate where this team is right now and I especially hate where this organization is right now.

We are a laughing stock!  Guys on radio like Parkins and Spiegel get their CUBBY CHUBBYS everyday making fun of the white sox.  I hate it!

I see no direction or hope of how this is going to improve going forward.  We all were sold to be patient during the rebuild only to see a roster that is worse then the rebuild years.

We have been lied to and taken advantage off as White Sox fans.

Exactly.  If you saw the obvious with what Getz was building over the offseason you wouldn’t be upset right now.

What exactly is Chris Getz building?  for now or the future?

    Ponder on that.........

It means crap until the old man in the high castle doesn't croak

  5. Sorry fellas.

I will not be posting here much if any as this is a dumpster fire that just makes me angry to watch and talk about.

I am excusing myself from this organization until they decide they give a crap

Much respect to all of you who come here daily and give your time, money, and effort to this organization and team.......I can't do it anymore.

His plan was to sign a bunch of veterans that are supposedly good leaders, may or may not still have their defensive chops, while none of them can hit a lick.  Laying out a plan and following it doesn’t mean much if the plan is not very good to begin with.

And the players I mentioned were Fedde, Lopez, Maldonado, Pillar, DeJong.  Not many people would use the phrase “higher ceiling” in the same sentence with any of these guys.

I think Fedde may have a ceiling.  the rest I agree........

One thing we do need to take into account is that Maldonado was brought here to work with the young pitching staff.  He maybe whatever he is at this point in his career but he has always been a leader with his pitchers.
