Why don't you "talk to me" once you start being right about anything? All I've heard all spring was that this pitching staff will "blow". They blew, alright. They blew pitches by Detroit hitters all day. I tried to warn y'all to not get your hopes up regular bullpen melt-downs. Now you have to keep your therapist on retainer because you can't crow about that.
I guess you'll have to cheer yourself up tonight by watching some Twitter car crash video account.
I'm optimistic several pitchers will do well, especially under Bannister's tutelage. And not to take away anything from Crochet's outstanding performance, or the other pitchers beyond Kopech's shaky command.
But let's also be measured in that it was cold today, you had shadows with the late start and the Tigers were 28th last year in runs scored with 661, or 20 runs ahead of 29th place White Sox (the Oakland AAA's in last).
Hoping Crochet can stay healthy and sustain effective 80 + pitch outings for as long as feasible / possible without risking injury. Today will certainly help his confidence in terms of completing 6 and pitching really well with great command.

What's a manager supposed to do when he inherits a garbage team with a broken culture? He can't make the players good. He says unrealistic things, but that's part of the job. He can't just say "we suck and won't win anything."
It's too hard to judge a manager when the talent is piss poor. Let's give Grif a chance with at least SOME talent before we judge him to harshly. When that will be, I don't know.

Is the offense going in order in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th innings Pedroball or Getzyball??

We got shut out on opening day, but I am sure the CULTURE is looking great in the clubhouse.
As long as Chuck Garfien is happy, we should all be happy.

Will they feel better when Grifol is fired and replaced with LaRussa?
Pritzker will sign a bill demanding the Sox move to Nashville by December 31st if that happens.
Still feel he is both running the show and fixin' to get back to crack the 3,000 win mark. Will take two to three more years (he'll need 116 more wins), and be 82 when he does it if they slot him in for Saturday's game.

I would praise incessantly and be willing to send 10 bucks cash tip at the end of the season for anybody in soxtalk willing to count the actual fans at our games this year. It would be neat to get an actual attendance count. Not to be a jerk but I could envision under 1,000 fans being at a lot of our games. They'll never list a crowd under 15,000 on the official box. Think about it. Southsiders aren't dumb. They are not gonna show just to get a delicious corned beef sandwich. The amount of fans there will be count-able. Surely somebody in the age of analytics would tackle this challenge for us fans.
I like going to day games in nice weather, avoid crowds.
Here are a few photos from last season in said situations in 2023 and 2019, the last two seasons I went to the park (not including 2020 Spring Training).
Game One DH 9/12/23 - There were less than 100 for most of this game.
Game Two DH 9/12/23 - Several Hundred to start game 2 at the regularly scheduled time.
Friday September 27, 2019 - 4 PM - About 100 fans.

Holy f*** this is almost verbatim what the Hahn Defense Force would say in his defense. Guess what, if he doesn't think his bosses are any good or are hamstringing him -- he's free to go work somewhere else.
Jerry's not going to let him quit, not even on his deathbed. He made Kenny sit here with no chance at a President job for years, Hahn was rumored to want to quit as well.
Jerry loves keeping under his thumb on the planation, be it FO, players, jabbing Minor League players and keeping them in slum conditions eating 7/11, etc.

I’ve been calling for moving Crochet to the starting rotation for years but crowing about one good start against a trash offense is also pretty funny. Hopefully he stays healthy because he’s the only good arm the Sox have in the rotation.
I think Soroka and or Fedde can possibly pitch well, my question with them is can either break 100 IP, and will they keep having to burn through prospects early like Nastrini (4 AAA starts) to just make it through the season.
They really should sign 1 or preferably 2 guys like Cueto, Hill, a few others, just to get 100 + innings in.
Seems like they went very light on the pitching depth, and very heavy fretting about a dozen horseshit guys (pretty much every position player) that they continue to add (Grossman).

His job was assistant GM. His bosses made the calls.
Well, assuming Tony isn't still running the show, his calls went 0 for 12 today.

One hit through 8 innings, nobody past 1B, and announcers talking up the defense. You have to OUTSCORE the other team, not just prevent them from scoring.

It’s going to be ugly all season. At what point will the good starters go apeshit without any run support?
I was told the pitchers now come here because of Getz' improved defense.

What's the point of Pillar if he can't hit lefties?
He's a fifth OF at best, can back up Robert defensively. I personally would rather have Billy Hamilton, can PR as well and an upgrade over Pillar defensively. Should start Colas and let Fletcher back up the three positions to see if he can hit RHP consistently without unsustainable BABIP.

Sox best chance next inning with Pillar, Maldonado and Lopez due up is to bunt down the first base line and try to barrel over their pitchers.
Meanwhile, 0-2 HBPs hurt.

Vaughn called out on a pitch clock violation after falling a ball off his hands. This after that last pathetic umpiring at bat he had to face with the one legitimate strike strikeout.

I love me some Deivi!
I'd like to see him get a chance at the rotation either later this year, or work up to it so he can join in 2025. Last year was his first as a reliever.
Are we being too hard on Grif?
