it's pretty funny, these guys act as if you choke up on the bat it means you have a small dick
Basically if I could change the team, it would be trading for more speed, defense, OBP, hustle, better baserunning. Not sure trade what, but the team is not quite finished. Crochet and Kopech coming online will help close the gap. But the post all star break team is what these guys are. They can’t sustain themselves if they need to scratch for runs around crooked number innings.
anyway, no time left to risk Rodon and Lynn. Go hard and aggressive game 2 and 3 with Giolito and Cease and let the chips fall where they may.

Dusty talking about doing “the little things”. Kind of what the Sox lack if you could characterize their flaws

Yes, but look at his home/road splits vs the Astros. It wasn't reasonable to think starting him at Houston would produce any different result than what we got.
There's no reason it couldn't have gone Giolito/Rodon/Lynn/Cease and have Kopech and Lopez to back up Rodon.
My next 2 pitchers would be Giolito and Cease at this point. No party no disco. No fooling

Having a sub 3 era earns you playoff starts. There is no legitimate argument that Lynn wasnt starting game 1 or 2. It just wasnt happening.
Politics eh? That sucks man.

We gotta draw walks game 2. Scratch and claw. Get hit by a pitch again but start a fight next time. Shake these guys up. Can someone bunt on? Probably not lol

Sure he would be better than Leury or Cesar right now, but for him to say he kept the clubhouse loose is wrong. More than one insider has said the organization thought he was a turd
As I indicated, this is news to me. Are you saying he is Adam Eaton or something? The didn’t get the feeling that would be possible with Madrigal

If the rest of the series is a scoring struggle, this lineup will be tweaked next year for sure.

The guy signed to be with the Sox for a few years. He did everything to earn his start. With Rodon not feeling great he was absolutely going to start game 1 or 2. The match ups make tomorrow more winnable.
If anything the Lynn and Grandal need to figure out how you can beat a fastball hitting team throwing 74 fastballs on 76 pitches. Either have to get effectively wild or show more breaking stuff.
I simply disagree about earning things being a concern to consider in a win or go home series. This is not the same as earning opening day of the season.

The only thing Madrigal did for the clubhouse was make them come together to dislike him
What did I miss?

Just really not much you can do when Lynn was such a good player this season. While every stat etc suggested he wouldnt do well against the Astros, it just would have been impossible to not let him start. I really think the Sox purposefully went with Gio second because of concerns about Lynn this game.
Very real chance his knee is not 100%, so the Sox could have had a good reason not to go with him in game 1 if so. It wouldn’t have bothered him in the slightest because he is a realistic person.

I mean, this team is not the same biorhythms. The scrappy lineup team with subs were all heart and soul and it worked. Madrigal kept everybody loose too, him getting hurt is an underrated thing. But most of all , Lynn was the wrong choice. Tip of the cap to Astros pitching though, what can you do…
-
Lynn hasn’t been the same pitcher as he was earlier in season. Not sure about choosing him for opener. Not a time for a seasonal achievement award. Hindsight is 2020, but I think this was in the back of a lot of people’s mind fears

The dark thing that sort of envelopes the team since the all star break is still out there, I can feel it. That bum slayer rep still persists too.

It's weird cause we didn't really strike out. We just didn't hit anything hard until this inning.
Robert getting the ball back to the infield too slowly in the first inning that cost a run sort of was a microcosm of this season. The Sox don’t do a lot of little things that are important. Anyway, wish Madrigal was here battling.

Ask me again in November. Then ask me again in June. Then ask me again in 2023.
Well I think it’s all about Nov. Hahn again sold out youth for old going all in on the World Series. So far, perhaps another disaster. Hahn is the scorpion riding the frogs back. Not sure why we thought he learned his lesson. Because he made fun of himself?

They certainly need to make a splash in the offseason. Need a RF. Need another starter (or two).
There is so much talent in this lineup and for some reason its just not gelling right now. I think it will in the playoffs though. If not - BLOW IT UP!
Good thing the Sox didn't make any bad asset trades this year so they will have plenty of ammo. Hahn did it again.
-
They are really gonna sleepwalk into the playoffs. This is happening….

holy crap, maybe we have 2 pitchers. Maybe.

Worried about the rotation a little bit and the team mojo. They had an arrogance (in a good way) and felt unbeatable, who knows if they can recreate. We’ll just have to see. As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don’t know we don’t know

Cleveland down 3-0 early could be back up to 11 games
Thats good because they were breathing down our necks.
anyway, the relaxed manner the Sox have played with lately, maybe we should be rooting for Cleveland these days.

Perhaps not, but perhaps anything else can happen as well given the circumstances. Tend to think he’d come up at 3rd, but it would be a good lively discussion for Hahn and co. Trades are always a possibility.
