Dunn is easily the best hitter in this lineup.
And he did have that All-Star season!
Plus he'd have been one of our better bullpen arms this year.

But for all the rest of the guys ... the white sox think that you develop by playing a lot of ball games. But that thesis has failed man. That's not enough, especially when you have so rid yourself of any players who know how to do it differently.
You know - the one thing that I want to give Getz credit for is that "Project Birmingham" experiment he did 2 years ago.
I'm a huge critic of the Sox's minor league development program basically treating the minors like a warehouse rather than a factory... but that Project Birmingham thing, to me, was the right approach. Identify things to work on during games, then shift your focus to developing your game through deliberate practice and training.
But generally, I completely agree with you on this quoted portion.

Here is what I would like to see happen. Reinsdorf moves the ML & all the Minor League teams and personnel to Nashville and renames the ML team.
The Chicago White Sox name and franchise history stays in Chicago with the new expansion owner of the club. It would be similar to what the Cleveland Browns did.
Trying to model us after the Cleveland Browns may be the darkest suggestion yet.

Nah. This was back in 03. I think the dudes name was old roman. I've been around on this board for a while. A lot of posters here were teenagers back then. Had a few older guys and middle guys like myself. It was fun. The 05 world series was fun. I was off for a while. Had some rough times those days
That was when you were still pretty active on worldcrossing, too.

If Wilson got the top of the order, we win the game no doubt. But instead he came in the middle of the order, and everyone knows there isn’t anything you can do about that but lose
Ha.
It's not like putting wilson in there was a bad move or anything (he's actually been good), but the bullshit quote to try to justify it and make excuses like thisil is just embarrassing.

By my calculation, the Sox should lose the next 2 before winning one more.
Started the season by losing 4, winning 1.
Then lost 5, won 1.
Then lost 6, won 1.
They've now lost the next 5, so we have 2 more to go.

Hawk barely talked when things weren't going well like 10 years ago, he'd be silent for entire broadcasts now.
I mean, they could just try to bullshit us that he's in the booth, and there'd be a compelling case to believe them.

I'm surprised it's that many.
It implies having scored some runs as a prerequisite.

If you have never made fun of a bad coach when they are not around, then you have never played a competitive sport before.
Oh, I have played quite competitively (though not baseball). I've played on championship teams as well as hockey teams who didn't win until after Christmas (including the intrasquad scrimmage lol).
I've also been part of teams that were almost as bad with coaches who were bad, but we had players who stepped up as leaders and set the cultural tone for the team.
I'm not saying Pedro needs to stay (quite the opposite) - just stating a fact that, if you're trying to build a positive culture in the organization, you need players who are willing to take a long, hard look at themselves and try to make things better.

How many players do you think they have on the current roster that could be part of a playoff team? Five? Ten? Now sign 15 or 20 above average free agents to compete in the next couple years. You need at least four starting pitchers and a closer, someone to catch them. I don't think you can pull that off in two to three years even with reckless spending.
Intelligent reckless spending is the key.
It's hard... it's challenging... but with some of the younger "core" (if you want to call it that) coming up like Montgomery, Ramos, Zavala, C Edgar Quero, Nastrini, Schultz, etc., it's not 100% outside of the realm of possibility to hit a few metaphorical home runs.

Even if he sells it's four or five years of sub .500 baseball.
Maybe. If we get a reckless owner who doesn't give two craps about profit and is willing to intelligently spend through his / her teeth and above their means, I wouldn't rule out a quicker turnaround.

Anyone taken a look at Reynaldo’s numbers lately? Talk about a coaching failure there. Sox had a stud on their hands and nearly ruined him. Kopech probably would be an all star by now in a better org
Whoever that GM was who brought ReyLo into the Sox organization probably deserves a raise. </sarc>

100%. If 20ish professional athletes are talking s%*# about their boss…it’s probably a boss problem not a player problem. He’s completely lost the locker-room, otherwise he’d do some Rick Pitino/Deion Sanders s%*# and just start telling the media that the players aren’t good enough and are making stupid mistakes. Problem is, he’s perceptive enough to know that he doesn’t have enough respect to do that without making the problem worse. The owner doesn’t respect him, the GM doesn’t respect him, the players dont respect him, the fans don’t respect him, the media doesn’t respect him. Hell, at this point, I assume his own assistant coaches don’t respect him. It’s very hard to nail down a single thing that Pedro actually does well and people that have made it this far in professional athletics are smart enough to realize how incompetent he is.
My point is that it's a "both" problem. It's a player problem, too, and if the players don't recognize that, they don't deserve to play big league baseball.
It'll be interesting to see someone like Tommy Pham come in. Any bets on the first fist fight in the dugout?

At this point, White Sox players have to be making fun of Pedro Grifol the moment he walks out of the clubhouse after the game. That and the players group chats. There is 100% no respect of this guy anymore inside the 4 walls from anyone on the field.
If the players are making fun of Pedro, the players need to go.
If, with the way they're performing, they feel they can criticize anyone else, that's just a complete lost cause.

Most Sox fans I know have very little interest in sitting through another 4-5 tank job of unwatchable baseball.
A lot of us know that 4-5 years of unwatchable baseball are in our future, regardless of intent by the front office, unless JR dies or sells.

At this point, just give managerial duties to a random fan every game. It'll improve attendance, and will lead to just as few wins.
Announce it Price is Right style too, so the winner has to run screaming all the way from their seats down to the field.
"Bill Kowalski of Orland Park...COME ON DOWN! You're the next manager of the Chicago White Sox!"
Can that be the prize for Soxmath? It might make Soxmath worth watching.
It's like combining that with this:
