    For you fans of the classic punk bands Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Meatmen, Doggy Style, Government Issue and now Bad Religion, here is punk guitar legend Brian Bakers Bluesy RnR band Junkyard: http://www.dvdsmusicvideos.com/auto.php?vi...20-%20Hollywood It's actually a great song, and the stuff in the video is how they were live. At one point you see vocalist Dave Roach do a flip over Baker. They really did that type of stuff live. They were easily one of the best of the time period. I saw them on their forst tour, and standing next to me in the audience of the Metro was Axl Rose. We talked for a few seconds before the bouncers had to pull him out because people started swarming him. I met Brian Baker while he was in Dag Nasty and later after the Junkyard show. During his Junkyard era if you asked him at all about the punk scene, Dag Nasty, Minor Threat or any of his other punk bands, he would get extremely pissed off and yell at ya. I spoke with another seminal punk legend who relayed a story of Baker actually getting into a fight with some kids because they wanted to talk punk. Chris Gates, the other guitarist, the big guy, was also from numerous punk bands based in Austin, Texas.
  7. Hey LCR...did anybody die in that avatar of yours???
  8. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) so after KG's glowing recommendation, i rented date movie...and boy, that thing was terrible. I don't know what he was thinking. Are you serious???
  9. Mamie has also turned quite "wacky" in her latter years.
  10. Watched Date Movie the other night. I don't know why I didn't listen to all the terrible reviews this thing got. I really should have. But I feel it is my duty to all of you fine folks to pass along a warning: AVOID DATE MOVIE AT ALL COSTS!!! IT IS EASILY ONE OF THE WORST "FILMS" EVER MADE!!! AVOID, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD OR WHATEVER YOU WORSHIP, STAY FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS THING!!! Don't say I didn't warn you.
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) What's the story behind their breakup? They always struck me as a 'load up the van and tour forever and who cares about record sales' kinda band. From what I recall though, Pirner said he got frustrated by the industry. I'm not sure on the whole "lowdown" or whatever, but I seem to remember the same as you. Pirner I think got lost in his stardom, and then came crashing back to earth.
  12. QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) That's gonna flop. Advance word is that it's actually pretty well done. It's based on a book.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) I thought those guys had given up. They had. But the eventual sickness of Karl Mueller pulled them together for a reunion and they decided to stick it out, write a new album, and see what happened. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) God, I used to love that band. Saw them at the Metro back in 1988. It was 120 degrees in that place, and they put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Too bad they went to s*** the way they did. It actually has moments of the early days on it and is quite good for about the first half. It never gets bad, but it doesn't hit the stride they had with "Hang" or "Horse", but on certain songs, it comes damn close.
  14. Got the new Soul Asylum. It's pretty good. It has stuff for the fans of the old brilliant Twin Tone band, and stuff for the fans of the crappy commercial version of Soul Asylum. It's about 1/2 and 1/2 for me. But it shows that Pirner still knows how to write.
  15. Wow...this is easily the worst list I have ever seen. That Rolling Stone Greatest Guitarist list was bad for placing Van Halen at 71 or whatever, and for leaving Brian Stezer off all together. But this list, as a whole, is ridiculous. Example: Not that I think either one is really "Greatest Comedy Ever" list candidates, but, ummm, how is Meet The Fockers placed so much higher than Meet The Parents? The second film was horrible.

    ugh...

    QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) I too share the love for him, but I would never watch charmed.. he gets my heart from Nip/Tuck would also like to throw in im thrilled that Dr. Doom will be in the sequel... he was the best part of the first one Really? I thought he was pretty terrible in it. I liked the movie, for the most part, but his voice was terrible for that role. Once he had the mask on, it just sounded all wrong. He sounded bored.
  17. QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:05 AM) Wow, I do not advise you to watch The Hulk Worst.Movie.Evar HOWEVER, I do suggest that instead of wasting time watching the crappy hulk, you watch The Punisher.. I think that was by far the best Marvel Movie that has ever been made.. its f***ing badass on so many levels Well, I did watch The Hulk. I missed your post. As it turns out, I thought it was a decent enough film. I doubt I will ever sit down with it again though. But now that they spent 3 hours on nothing but character development, I would be interested to see him in a second film and see where they go from there. Or he should be brought into one of the already established franchises. I take that one over Daredevil anyday though, and I like DD (the character and books, not the film) quite a bit. I still need to check out The Punisher. My neighbor has it, so maybe I will grab it from him. You mean the new one, not the old Lundgren version, right?
  18. I want to change the channel...but...I am hoping the offense will come to the rescue. I did tell my wife yesterday that I didn't think we would win today. I would rather face Zambrano when he doesn't have so much to prove.
  19. A "400 lbs. f***hole". What a vision to have in my head on an earlier Sunday morn...thanks.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) I didn't hear Lou today, and he obviously doesn't have much broadcast experience, but even if he gets the names wrong, you know who they are, and Sweet Lou does know the game. Well, he called AJ "Barrett", so...yeah...thank the Lord atleast I know who is who on the Sox and on the Cubs.
  21. I find it interesting how so many Cub fans stand by their park being the greatest in baseball, but then they go and throw garbage on the field. This wasn't a new thing for them to do. But ya know, when I really love something the last thing I ever want to do is make it look like crap. I know the organization does that daily by marching these nippleheads out there, but the fans really don't need to help make the place look like trash.
  22. Maybe Fox should tell Lou to just start calling everybody on the field "that guy" or something of the sort. Does he have any clue as to who is who on the field? I understand that he doesn't call our games, or the Cub games ever really, but still, it's ridiculous as to how many times he calls somebody the wrong name. He might know the game, but he sucks in the booth. "Now, that guy is going to throw a curve to that other guy, then hopefully you will get him to strike out or keep the ball in the park and ideally having it go to that guy at short-stop so he can throw to that other guy at second and onto the guy standing on first for the double play."
  23. Really, as to if you should be excited or not, just realize that there probably would be no such thing as NIN without there having been a Bauhaus. Few bands influenced the underground more than Bauhaus, and few bands still sound relevant. Just check out the song "Double Dare".
  24. Cool, I'll grab it when I get home! I showed them to my buddy here at work (who is into a bunch of this style stuff) and he really likes them quite a bit. So I am sure between the two of us, one will have it soon. Thanks again!
