  1. I guess you forgot earlier when they had a nice little stretch and there was a post about demanding apologies and another about the playoffs lol
  2. Nothing I said was outside of reality, yet here you are to remind everyone that this bad team is not historically bad. They're still bad either way, so I guess take your victory lap?
  3. This is the same cycle that has happened all year, the Sox look competent for a stretch and a handful of posters pants get tighter and then they eventually remind everyone why they are a 100 loss team. This roster is full of developing rookies and place holder veterans, they are going to have their ups and downs, but we still have a pretty mediocre pitching staff and the offense still leaves a lot to be desired. You can't rely on Quero, Lee, Meidroth, Montgomery, Burke, Martin, and Smith to all develop into great players because that's just not how it works. Sure would be great if it did though, but odds say a lot of those guys won't. Luis Robert is the only impact player on this entire roster and he has been struggling for two years now and they just tried to get rid of him. We still have a lot of bad to go before we get to the good, but this season is light years more enjoyable than last season so there's that.
  4. Man how is this team ever going to get good again? They have nothing to trade, they aren’t signing difference makers. They are going to need to hit the development jackpot and even that is going to take several years to pay out. need that new owner ASAP
  5. I’m with you, I don’t see how they pick that option up with the risk involved. I think they fully intended to trade him, played hardball, and everyone went to other options leaving them with nothing. I’ll gladly admit I was wrong if that option gets exercised.
  6. No one said its zero, but valuable players get traded. Other teams discussed trades for Robert with the White Sox and declined to meet the White Sox asking price. Not because he will cost 20M next year, but because he hasn't been very good for the last two seasons. I am aware if the Sox wanted to move him no matter what, they could have. Other teams look at the price and the ask, and politely declined.
  7. I agree Robert has been more valuable in his career. Santander got the contract he did because of the season he had, if Robert hits the market this offseason, his last two seasons are not good baseball. That's why Santander got the contract he did. I also don't agree that picking up his option is a disaster, but im not the one you need to convince about that.
  8. Anthony Santander was coming off a 44 HR season where he drove in 100 runs and had an .800+ OPS, its not really a fair comparison.
  9. I didn't forget, I clearly said I had no idea what has been discussed. Bottom line is, if Luis Robert was valuable he would have been traded, but we all kind of expected this based on his complete fall from grace since 2023.
  10. Look at it like this, the White Sox just offered up Robert to every team in the league for essentially a 1/20 deal and no one is interested it would seem. And to be completely fair, I have no idea what type of money exchanging hands was discussed or what was actually offered. For all I know, they DID get a reasonable offer but refused to budge from their ask.
  11. We have no interest in seeing a lot of these guys but if its their arms getting used up instead of our promising young guys, whatever.
  12. Sorry, I thought it was obvious I meant they cant trade him for something other than scraps. It was to be relevant to his value. If you had a player that was going to be a FA after the season and his valuation was 5/100 I am pretty sure you could move that player at the deadline for something meaningful.
  13. They already have a bunch of that with guys like Clevinger, Syndergaard, Perez is coming back. It will be pretty shocking if no one was interested in what he has done so far this year.
  14. There's still over an hour to, ill believe it when I see it that they couldn't move any of these guys. I find it hard to believe.
  15. Yes, they could give him away right now if they wanted to. I meant more like if he hit the open market this offseason and could command a 5/100 deal he would have been traded for something not trash by now.
  16. What in the world? They can't even trade him as of right now, if he could command a 5/100 deal he would be on someone else's team right now.
  17. Exactly. If you have been paying attention, JR would much rather pay 10 players $2M each instead of 1 player $20M.
  18. Yes, but the player is not worth it, not the one we have seen for the last 2 years anyways. I use the term albatross in regards to having to pay an underperforming player a $20M salary.
  19. JR aside, there is no owner in sports who is just going to keep an albatross contract when given the option to completely eliminate it, regardless of how low their payroll is. Do people really think a financial shrewed owner like JR is going to look at this and go "Eh, just pay him $20M our payroll is low anyways and its not going to kill me".... come on.....
  20. Yeah I fully agree with that. The problem is I don't think we have an owner who does.
  21. Robert has been pretty mediocre for 2 full seasons now, there is definitely cause for concern that a bounce back ever happens.
  22. Did you forget who the owner of this team is? He has a chance to eliminate $20M off the books for a player who is in no way shape or form earning that salary. Its not my money, I dont care about it, but I understand the man who DOES care about it.
