Colas showing signs of life at some point would be nice
-
It's a shame Yoan can't hit anymore because his defense is so fun to watch

Jake drawing walks is essential for him to be an impact hitter. That's great to see

The send there was fine, just was a very quick relay and good throw home. Looks like Yoan jammed his hand on Naylor's foot
The Guardians executed everything perfectly and it still took a freak incident at home for him to be out

Eloy has the highest GB rate of his career
-
Of course Yoan doesn't score on that
-
Benintendi swings such a lifeless bat

Great job Jake not swinging at non competitive pitches

Benetti and Stone just said he’s a core guy
I think that's the correct way to play it but also speaks to how bleak things are someone with a .272 OBP and negative defensive value is considered a core guy

Jake Burger is the only Sox player that is fun to watch.
Luis Robert shouldn't be taken for granted

I will be stunned if they trade him
If the plan is to slash payroll while attempting to compete, this team needs viable big leaguers who are playing for cheap. Trading Burger doesn't make sense for a variety of reasons

Burger's raw power is incredible. The ball just explodes off his bat.

Wanted to stay on his financial terms
He wasn't willing to sign an extension for significantly below market value, therefore the Sox weren't interested.
Good luck filling out a viable rotation in 2024 and beyond without Lucas in it. Not getting an extension done with him will be a huge mistake.

It’s incredible how Guardians pitchers gain velocity in their system and Sox guys lose theirs. Â
Player development is the biggest inefficiency in baseball right now

I know this might be unpopular, but I think Cease is what his ERA says he is outside of 2022.Â
Also, he throws 94-95 now and no longer has plus velo in this day and age.Â
I think WAR overrates Cease. He's basically Rich Harden if he stayed healthy.Â
So if someone wants to trade a haul for him, be my guest.Â
Cease hasn't missed a turn through the rotation since debuting in the majors. We complain about injuries all of the time, but Cease is as dependable as they come. For that reason alone don't think WAR overrates him.

They think Cease, Kopech, Timmy, Eloy, Yoan, Benintendi, Burger, Vaughn and Hendriks is a strong enough core
I would guess there are plenty in the Sox front office who don't believe that, but if Jerry won't green light another rebuild, what's the difference?

Kelly has to go...or Graveman.
Roster is way too expensive still with all these cutbacks looming.
Agreed. TA is the exception to me as far as players who could potentially be traded away.

I don't mind keeping TA because the team will very likely have no incentive to be bad. It feels very similar to a Giolito situation from last year.

They’re going to need a new RF next year. Â
The number of people who were treating it as a given Colas would be good was completely insane to me

I’ve heard so many rumors about massive payroll slashing next year.  Gonna be so uglyÂ
Gonna be brutal watching a 100+ loss team that isn't eligible to pick inside the top 10

If it is true that JR hates to lose to the Cubs, then he should be livid after tonight.
I'm sure Jerry's excited to slash payroll at the deadline. If Jerry cared about results, KW & Hahn would have been gone a decade ago

He should have been fired weeks ago.  Now he’ll be used as the scapegoat. Â
I don't care one way or another about Pedro, but the best manager in baseball history couldn't do anything with this roster
