Also, over this past weekend we kept hearing about the Giants and their short term contract with alot of $$ being offered to Harper. And then one of the national guys tweets out (thanks to Boris) that Harper is only going to sign a long term contract. Well, who does that leave? Philadelphia and Chicago. Maybe San Diego? And if Harper really doesn't want to go to Philadelphia? Absolutely could see a scenario where both Manny's camp and Harper's camp turn to the Sox.
-
This. And also maybe since Hahn said no about signing 2, the circumstances have changed. Maybe both camps have since turned to the Sox and have said They're interested in making it happen?
-
This is the third random nonsense tweet saying the same thing. Is this because of the article by shack over at the loop yesterday ( btw very good article Shack!)? You know planting a thought in everyone's head. Or is there a little truth to all of this? Financially they could do it. Signing both would put the payroll around $145 - 150 million. Really the issue is pulling it off quietly, secretly, and dealing with the egos of Lozano and Boris. And that last part is no small task.

Holy freak what a first post! Welcome. We can always hope that that is true. Lol

I'm outside at the mill today. So yeah I'm cold. But the idea that we could be signing one or even both whales starting today brings warmth to my heart. And when this happens, I would like to flip off all the doubters, naysayers, national reporters who never gave the sox a chance especially that smug little dodger podcast host who tried recanting what he said about the sox getting Manny. And then the flip offs would continue with the Yankees, Redsox, Cubs, and Dodgers fans. And last but not least, espn, mlb network, si, bleacher report and every other network or publication that never gave the whitesox a thought. That's all. I feel better now.

Our first puff of smoke for the day?
-
Yeah I realize that. Just a little sarcasm.
-
I'm sure he's somewhere with the Sox. Part of the Manny recruitment.
-
Because they might get thrown under the bus by Lozano or the mlbpa for breaking the cba or disrupting the free agency process. Lol. Seriously, the national guys are probably about as sick and tired of this whole process as we are.
-
But the gloves won't match. Lol
-
Yes, a pair of eyeballs would be nice.

Hector is finding everything interesting today isn't he?
-
Yeah what happened there? My man loving the pizzas.
-
That's funny. The onion had a headline of Harper asking the Phillies if they would move to another city.
-
And there he is! Now it's a party!
-
Yeah, that's kind of a big deal.
-
Well who's going to blow out the Sox's bid? Didn't Hahn say They're gonna go down swinging? I guess maybe Philadelphia if they don't get Harper. And more importantly, shouldn't Machado have a say in where he wants to go? Idk, am I reading that tweet wrong?

2018-9 MLB off season free agency thread

I would so love the Sox to pick up Marwin Gonzalez. But I know there just isn't any room on this roster. -
It sounds like the Indians have all but closed the doors on any Kluber trade. According to Morosi and a number of other people - Kluber trade talks are dead. He's expected to report to spring training this week with the indians. I like to think that this increases our chances for a Pederson trade to happen. No top outfield prospects going back to Cleveland now if trade is off. So they might want to unload Joc for some pitching?
-
Not sure he would. Madrigal can play any infield position. A shortstop in high school. Recruited to be an infielder in college.
-
Yeah well I wish I was important enough that a helicopter was sent for me because I was needed at work. So back to the real world......yeah, what he wants and what he gets are 2 different things.
-
Yeah I'm not sure Gio is their guy either. Dallas Keuchel is the type of pitcher the sox love. A ground ball pitcher with a low maintenance delivery. I get it that he's old. I also get it that he wants 5 yrs. No way I would do that. I'd give him 2 with a 3rd yr option. Make it alot of money so that he'll take the 2 - 3 yrs. Sox can afford it.
-
601?
-
No. Soon.

I remember all of those really bad Yankees teams of the 80s. Before Jeter. Donny baseball Mattingly, a young Henderson, Barfield, and Dave Righetti. A whole generation ago. And now, really the last 20 years, all this entitlement. If you ever go to Cooperstown and visit the baseball hall of fame, there is a whole section dedicated to the Yankees and their 27 world championships. It really was impressive. And without a doubt fans the flames of entitlement. I hate the Yankees. Lol
