I am no scout, if you subbed Aaron Nola for Brady Singer in this thread, we would be in a Soxtalk timewarp.

Nola had much better stuff in my humble opinion. I think Kiley/Eric reiterated that when the comp was made in a chat this week.

And in their junior year, reports were that Nola's velocity was improving while Singer's has plateaued.

This game has been a chore to watch, by the way. Neither pitcher has looked efficient or effective. Madrigal has literally been the one enjoyable part.

College baseball is a tough watch

Larnach is one to watch. Same with Adley. Greiner will go around the second round too. Oregon's team is fun watch.

India Ks too much for my liking. He's not quite in Jeren Kendall territory, but he's closer than I'd like for a #4 overall pick.

Wasn’t Kendall at like 28%? I remember looking it up last year and could find no mlb comp that had a k rate that bad in college. Like even Mark Reynolds was 18% or something

Most of it is on the pitching side in this one.

That's odd. Heimlich has, at least from the statline, been pretty dominant going all the way back to his start against Stanford, who was #2 at the time, when he struck out 14 in 8 innings.

He looks a lot better this inning. He's been bailed out twice by double plays in the first two innings.

Re: Madrigal, using the grades from Fangraphs and the scale Kiley put out explaining grades, they're basically saying they think he'll be a .300ish hitter with an .800-.850 OPS, 20-20 potential, and gold glove caliber defense at 2B, which could be above average or plus at SS and 3B as well. That sounds like a 5 WAR player to me.

That doesn't sound like a 5 WAR player, it is a 5 WAR player.

In 2016 Pedroia was worth 5.0 fWAR. He hit .318/.376/.449, .825 OPS, .131 ISO, 15 HR, 7 SB, .339 BABIP, 122 wRC+, -4.3 BsR, 14.1 Off, 11.1 Def, 8.7% BB, 10.5% K.

In 2015 Kinsler was worth 3.9 fWAR. He hit .296/.342/.428, .770 OPS, .131 ISO, 11 HR, 10 SB, .323 BABIP, 110 wRC+, +0.5 BsR, 8.4 Off, 6.2 Def, 6.4% BB, 11.9% K.

In 2014 Zobrist was worth 4.7 fWAR. He hit .272/.354/.395, .749 OPS, . 123 ISO, 10 HR, 10 SB, .301 BABIP, 117 wRC+, +2.2 BsR, 14.2 Off, 8.0 Def, 11.5% BB, 12.8% K.

In 2014 Kinsler was worth 4.5 fWAR. He hit .275/.307/.420, .727 OPS, .145 ISO, 17 HR, 15 SB, .288 BABIP, 103 wRC+, +5.7 BsR, 8.2 Off, 10.1 Def, 4.0% BB, 10.9% K.

That's 3 seasons (Zobrist and Kinsler) of a player with under a .775 OPS, very good defense, and decent to good base running with an average of 4.37 fWAR per season.

In 2014 Pedroia was worth 3.8 fWAR. He hit .278/.337/.376, .713 OPS, 0.98 ISO, 7 HRs, 6 SB, .307 BABIP, 98 wRC+, -1.0 BsR, -2.2 Off, 17.7 Def, 8.4% BB, 12.3% K.

If Madrigal were to hit .300/.360./.440 while stealing 20 bags and playing gold glove level D he would be an absolute stud at 2B.

After watching a bit of Singer today I'm on the anyone but Singer bandwagon. I'll be happy with any of the 3 big collage bats.

I have to agree, unfortunately. Not impressed at all with what I saw. He may be worth it around pick #10, but I expect more value out of our position. I trust the White Sox are leaning more towards Madrigal

It seems most of the best connected draft gurus think they are leaning Singer
