Good to see a win without depending on a home run. Kopech still needs to learn how to pitch.

No team in the playoffs is going to go too far without some clutch HR games. I'd rather see our guys start hitting them than string together a few singles to eek out runs.

Team HR Leader 2021 Season     Post AS break Team HR Leaders

1. Blue Jays                                     1. Blue Jays

2. Giants                                          2. Braves

3. Braves                                          3. Giants

 4. Dodgers                                      4. Rays

7. Yankees                                        6. Yankees

8. Rays                                               7. Cardinals

9. Astros                                             7. Dodgers

10. Red Sox                                        9. Red Sox

19. White Sox                                     9. Astros

                                                              17. White Sox

The fact is that in today's baseball in the playoffs it's likely somewhere from 45-50% of runs will be scored by HR's. As you can see from the lists the majority of playoff teams hit a lot of HR's. Since the Sox are among the leaders in team OBP  (3rd) and team average (5th) it's the lack of HR's that makes us more likely to lose. The Sox are also 5 least likely team to hit into a DP in case you were thinking the Sox waste a lot of runners by hitting into more DP's than other teams.

You especially have to hit HR's against the starting pitcher. Bomb him out of the game with a big 3 run HR before the other team manager start playing match up with his pen.

With how bad we are at getting guys home from third, home runs would help alleviate a lot of those issues.
