He pitched twice in the 7th inning. One was a save situation. It was a DH. A 7 inning game. The other was a non crucial down by 10 last game of the season needs some work appearance. Not what you are advertising.

OK. Now go to your link, and use the drop downs for Postseason Pitching game logs. Go ahead and tell us if Hader's ever pitched in a non-save situation. Then, go ahead and look at his other seasons, and tell us if he's ever pitched in non-save situations or not.

Then, go ahead and look at alleged wifebeater Chapman's game logs, and tell us if he's ever pitched in crucial non-save situations.

And there are many other examples of this, that we can think of, without bothering to research them much. "More gooder" managers make "more gooder" decisions by using their "more gooder" RPs in game/series/SEASON-crucial situations. If yesterday's game was some random regular season game vs, I dunno Texas or something, then sure:

Alkie Tony could have had some reason to overuse an inexperienced RP on a back-to-back. But in a game/series/SEASON-crucial situation, using anything but your best available was moronic. [Especially with a day off coming up.]

You're still reaching, and you're still wrong on this, full stop.

And while they never tried it, LaRussa still used that as an excuse yesterday, which is infuriating but expected since it was shifting blame away from him.

Agreed. I get that Hendriks is/was the incumbent closer, and that by rights, the closer role should have been his.

But OTOH, he's also shown the ability to pitch in other situations over the course of his career, and perhaps they should have at least tried switching roles, since Kimbel doesn't appear to pack the mental gear necessary to do anything other than close.

Setting aside that I absolutely HATED the trade for Kimbrel with the fire of 10,000 suns, once that moronic move was crapped upon us, it becomes incumbent on the manager to make the most of it. IOW, to put his players and his team into a position to succeed, NOT "square peg" the bullpen into misfit roles.

Yes in 2018 when he wasn’t their primary closer. It is funny you have this attitude but hated the White Sox acquired a HOF closer who had an ERA under a half a run a game for the stretch run and playoffs. Why would you hate having Kimbrel pitching 5th and 7th innings at that point in time?

OK, so now you're just ignoring alleged wifebeater Chapman's history, and the rest of Hader's postseason history, so as to deal in "alternative facts." Got it.

With respect to the Kimbrel acquisition, he WAS a HOF closer at one point, but he isn't that any more. The more important part about the acquisition that I hated was the fit. This team needed a RH setup man, preferably with "some" closing experience to back up Hendriks in case of temporary injury or ineffectiveness.

Instead, the geniuses that gave you Big Game James moronically traded for a closer with NO success as a setup man. Kimbrel has NEVER been successful in any other role other than closing. [Go ahead and look, if you doubt it.] Which made it a moronic fit for this roster.

He cost this org 10 years of control between two young players that could have been used either here, or to acquire other pieces. His obese salary, if retained, could squeeze the budget for other necessary parts in upcoming seasons. He's aging, and his best years are likely behind him. In sum, it was a moronic acquisition that didn't need to happen.

So no, I never wanted Kimbrel here. And he appears to be more mentally weak than other closers that have the capacity to pitch in other roles, to include Hader, Chapman, and even Hendriks; these three have shown an ability to do things that Kimbrel cannot. That Alkie Tony refused to try to reverse roles is damning, while you contort your arguments, and avoid facts to defend him.

Carry on, then...

At the time of his acquisition he was the best closer in baseball. Regression to the mean was very possible,  probably probable, but his numbers were as dominant as anyone's. The Sox could have sent the same package and got Adam Frazier and many would have been very happy. Regression happened to him as well. .662 OPS with SD. Beats Hernandez production but also shows Madrigal wasn't easy to replace.

Great. This team needed a RH setup man, and Kimbrel has no experience and no success as a setup man.

The fit was as bad as if the BEARS desperately needed a nose tackle, but bought the most expensive and talented aging placekicker instead because he was "the best."

Wait, you want to use closers in the 5th and 7th, but not the 8th?

One thing about Kimberly that I remember with his time with the cubs was that he was bad for at least a year before he finally turned it around this year.

Hahn obviously missed that or didn’t think it was important.

cut the guy during the off-season and beef up the starting staff. You need at least seven starters to compete for an entire season. Having Rodon come up lame completely changed the outlook for this team.

We only have 3 starters for next year and possibly a 4th with Kopech but his innings will be limited, we need to bring in at least 2 starters IMO

White Sox playoff baseball is fun....enjoy it....that is me trying to coax the optimistic side out of me not an indictment of anyone else's righteous disappointment.

We are a great team at home....let's show that side starting Sunday night.
