Good. Hopefully he can pitch, which means locating and changing speeds.

It's tough when your fastball is 97 mph and your changeup is 92 mph. He needs to try a different grip or something to get it down in the 86-88 mph range, or he's never getting out of the pen.

Last year's Crochet may not be this years Crochet . Let's wait to see how he's progressed.

He threw a bunch of changeups. Statcast data was there. Change was 91-93 mph, which is fine when you're throwing 100 mph but not when you're throwing 96-97.

Yeah, the general rule is you want at least 8 mph difference to be really effective.

The 100 MPH Crochet is probably never coming back. But we saw last season that isn't essential for him to be an effective reliever.

Effective reliever? Sure. What got everyone geeked was 100mph Crochet that had Sox fans with dreams of Randy Johnson and Chris Sale in their heads. It’s disappointing any way you slice it. But it’s his first day on the mound.  Some guys build up to the true gas.
