I'm sure that Rick will remind us of this tomorrow.  But in the chance that he doesn't, let's all remember that no one feels worse about this situation than Rick Hahn.

You're assuming he decides to show his face to the media. He did not on the last home stand.

A cub fan friend of mine and I were talking about him this weekend and he said, the guy does nothing good.....absolutely nothing.  His OSU team was so stacked his flaws were obviously hidden with that and the aluminum bat.

There is a slight advantage across The MLB in college players vs. high school players, but the Sox acquired their best hitters via international signings and trade acquisitions. Tim Anderson is the lone Top 10 hitter they drafted and developed since the Larry Himes era. Buehrle and Sale were home runs, but the only two over three decades in the pitcher column.

Post Larry Himes Competent Domestic Scouting Era:

  • International Free Agent Signing
  • Trade Acquisition
  • Domestic Draft Pick
  • Domestic Free Agent

Oh, right, I guess Tom Hamilton...

Somewhat surprised Glen Kuiper was fired after being caught at least twice in the COVID era broadcasting the N-Word. Thought owner John Fischer ordered him to do it to help continue depressing attendance for his stadium shakedown schemes.

Jim "40-acre field full of them" Kaat remained unscathed for his comments a few months after the Crony BBHOF Veterans Committee put Kaat and fucking Gil Hodges into the HOF, but once again kept Dick Allen out.

Shaddy Recent (2017-2022) Veterans Committee Omissions and Inductions:

  1. Dick Allen: 17th Third Base JAWS
  2. Tony Oliva 34th Right Field JAWS
  3. Gil Hodges: 41st First Base JAWS
  4. Harold Baines: 76th Right Field JAWS
  5. Jim Kaat 109th Starting Pitcher JAWS

That encapsulates the entire Hahn approach to everything.  He’s no different than you’re co worker who knows nothing drafting a fantasy team.  They just draft based on the list.  No insight, no instincts, no eye for talent or eye for red flags.  Just pick the next guy on the list.  The list said Moncada was the guy, get him even though he looked lost in his call up with Boston.  Never a thought that maybe the people who make the projections could be wrong.

Imagine the Sox announcing they took a guy that was projected to be a mid to late first round in the four spot. Lol.

Trading for MLB ready talent doesn't bother me. I wouldn't be bothered trading picks or younger players for MLB ready talent. But we suck at that also.

I'm with you in the Schueler and Williams eras, the Sox were better off trading their overrated / non developed pros.

Sox still have trouble developing prospects under Hahn, though he hasn't had a grasp of who to keep and who to trade (Tatis Jr., Semien, others). Also has had trouble on who to draft (Anderson his lone contribution), though part of this should also fall on Player Development, also under his purview.

The key to a successful Sox rebuild of the organization, likely not pending until new ownership, is for the FO to draft, acquire and develop young talent. Marco Paddy is the lone success story in the current regime, and Jerry undercuts him by his compulsion with trading international draft money, and their limitations on younger prospects.

Rick Hahn is a really bad GM.

I think he's an average GM in a really bad organization that experiences the worst luck imaginable.

He built a roster that everyone (fans, Vegas, baseball insiders) thought would contend for several years and watched it implode from injuries and the worst managing imaginable.

He's the figurehead and needs to go. But without a wholesale clearing the systemic problems will always be there.

Hahn showed up to speak to the media today! Basically spoke and said nothing (of course). Said May was better than April but still frustrated by inconsistency. Now that everyone is "healthy" (he's just asking for it isn't he?) he thinks the Sox may possibly play up to their capabilities. Also said it is still to early in the season to make any longer term decisions.

Guy is a complete moron.

The Dodgers have 5 starting pitchers on the IL right now. What horrible luck. No team could possibly overcome that kind of loss and still be in first place. Injuries man, it’s impossible to prepare for them.

Need to be able to do better than this in the MLB Draft over a decade to build "multi-championship window" depth.

Rick Hahn (2013-2022) - Top 10 Draft Picks - White Sox bWAR

  • 17.6 T. Anderson (1 2013) - Starting SS 2023.
  • 16.7 C. Rodon (1 2014) - 11.2 with the White Sox through 2021. Hahn declined QO.
  • 3.8 A. Bummer (19 2014) - Set up reliever 2023.
  • 3.1 A. Engel (19 2013) - Reserve OF post tanking. Released 2022. San Diego 2023.
  • 2.3 N. Madrigal (1 2018) - 0.6 after 83 games, Traded for Kimbrel.
  • 1.6 A. Vaughn (1 2020) - Starting 1B 2023.
  • 1.4 C. Heuer (6 2018) - Traded for Kimbrel 0.0. 0.8 post trade with 2021 Cubs.
  • 1.2 J. Burger (1 2017) - Possible starting DH effective May 2023.
  • 1.2 D. Mendick (22 2015) - Reserve INF, Mets AAA in 2023. Released 2022.
  • 1.0 I. Hamilton (11 2016) - Waived 2020, claimed by Seattle.

He is a bad GM in a bad org.  No need to sugar coat it.  He built a talented but very flawed roster that succumb to those flaws.  He failed miserably at building depth or any semblance of a minor league system that would supplement the club.  He’s also burned ungodly amounts of money on crap players while failing to land any impact talent in FA outside of Hendriks.  He doesn’t work in baseball again once this gig is over.  He is bad, period.

He may actually get a position with a club but it will be along the lines of what he started doing for the Sox, contract negotiations.

Pretty pathetic when a LHR and back up outfielder are the best you can put up for 3/4 in a decade.

Rodon didn't realize his potential, except for 2021 when the Sox were so desperate to fill out the rotation they had to bring him back on that $3 million deal that resuscitated his career.

To be clear, I didn’t mind Colas getting a shot. But there needed to at least be a better backup plan than put DH guy in outfield.

A lot of people here wanted Adam Duvall . So did I .He signed a 1 yr deal with the Red Sox for $7M. He started off scalding hot and put up 1.0 fWAR in just 37 PA. Then he hurt his wrist diving for a ball in CF April 10th and is now on the 60 DL .

I also wanted Colas to get his shot. It was time. You just can't let a guy approaching 25 yrs old who put up great stats in his very 1st season in the US with a huge hole in RF not get a chance. It didnt work out but he's working on his game in Charlotte trying to be more selective but not having the hitting success we've seen. He is taking more walks and thats a good sign  . But you have to still be able to hit while you take walks .  That seems to be Yoans problem this year. His walk rate disappeared but his hitting has recovered ( his LH hitting , not his RH hitting). Putting the 2 together isn't easy, even for a veteran like Yoan.

It must be very hard for Colas and I don't know what those hitting coaches were trying to do with him but it certainly hasn't helped. He just wasn't making any hard contact. Maybe his lack of baseball playing while trying to get out of Japan and finally getting to play last year hurt him too. Maybe not in the minors but against experienced MLB pitching his inexperience was apparent.

Yes, some clubs can overcome injuries. Most cannot.

Winning teams do. Losing teams do not. Winning GMs plan for them to happen and overcome them. Losing ones expect their fans to whine and call themselves unlucky.

The White Sox are one of the healthiest teams in the league and we’re still hearing people whine about how they’re struggling because of injuries. It’s laughable.

Your last bullet point is an absolute fact.....Bud Selig was a total POS commissioner and owner and should be banned from MLB.
