His legs have just taken too much of a beating over the years. His bat speed has gotten way slower because of that. Yeah it was a bad send but if you can't run from 2nd to home and slide without blowing out your knee you shouldn't be playing baseball. He didn't even make contact with it on anything...ground or a player. It just went. Given that he is a catcher, which uses and abuses knees constantly, he can't field his position anymore, and when you look at what he's done offensively when he has been "healthy", which is virtually nothing, I mean he has provided zero value to this team. It sucks for him (well, kinda, he's still making bank), but the reality is staring everyone right in the face. Not that the Sox will admit or do anything about it.
