To be fair most people don't think he understands line ups because of the last 300ish games he has managed.  Pretty much all of baseball has joined in the sentiment.

We just need to keep winning to maximize the pressure to “not mess with a good thing.”  I hope the FO understands the kind of fan revolt they’d be dealing with if Tony came back and the team went south.  *Even if they don’t believe a slide could possibly be linked to Tony’s managing* they have to be sensitive to the optics there.  It would just be so risky for them from a PR perspective.

Last 11 games without Tony in the dugout, the boys are 8-3. The prior 11 games with Tony in the dugout, the boys were 2-9!

He was better off staying retired. This team needed someone like A.J. Hinch instead of TLR. Just because he had an outstanding managerial career in the past, doesn’t mean he would succeed in today’s game. He isn’t the only reason this team was dog s%*# for most of the year, but he did make questionable decisions and there’s no question that the team has played better without him.

Two biggest hinderances this season have been the injuries, and Tony. They are about as healthy as they've been all season at the moment (still have Tim and Robert out), and TLR is gone. They are winning now. If those two factors continue to be reality, I think the Sox will win the division.

Disagree. Like most elderly people, Tony has become a caricature of his former self. Little quirks become huge

obsessions to most people as they reach old age. Fella, TLR has reached old age. He is no longer a competent

manager. Any one who has watched his performance and can't see it, is being willfully blind. If this comment

The big difference has been very consistent line ups. Some changes,  but the main guys are in same spot daily,  and out there almost every day. Also Leury has been buried.

Good point. Robert feels more like a continuation than a new injury. If it was June I doubt they would have rushed him back.

Agree.  I recall a stat given in one of the earlier TV broadcasts that TLR had 123 different lineups in the first 124 games this season.

The biggest dagger to the team is Tony's unwillingness and/or inability to make proper reliever and pinch hitting moves, and rally the team when down. Ricky and Miguel won the same number of come from behind games (with a 3+ run deficit) in just over a quarter of the games Tony managed over the past three seasons, and they did so against quality teams (Tony's all came against bottom basement teams).
