Eloy Brewers Rumor

Recommended Posts

Brewers are adamant they’re not going to hurt their defense with any acquisitions.  Burger makes very little sense for them.  Eloy on the other hand would be their second best hitter the second he’s acquired and would make that park look small.

And Eloy would definitely make the defense better

Eloy is another guy who represents what’s wrong with this team. In that he can’t stay healthy, has zero defensive value, and doesn’t have the best approach at the plate. He is controlled through 2026, I’d look to move him too.

They could just DH Burger, I wouldn't imagine they're as inept as out team running him out there at 2B.

Eloy was on their little list of people they are not going to trade. Seems they have taken a hard no stance on those guys so I don't think this would lead anywhere with Eloy. Burger on the other hand, was not on that list.

Any list that says Andrew Vaughn is untouchable is stupid.

Should have already learned that lesson with Hiura vs. Wong.

Interesting that they would be adding another bat with Santana just acquired to platoon at 1B.

I actually remember something on this in June. I wonder if Bruce just reads mlbtraderumors or brewer blogs like me.

This is the most likely answer.

Burger or Eloy for 2B/3B/OF Tyler Black from MIL, who says no?

I know @Chicago White Sox mentioned Robert Gasser earlier but with Bush and Nastrini probably going to be in the lower half of the rotation at some point in 24, the Sox IMO are likely to turn their eyes to the hole at 2B now.

Left handed savage with good AVG, outstanding OBP and good speed but questionable D. Since we don't care about D anyway I don't see it being a concern for the FO at 2B. And you see how he plays if Jacob Gonzalez looks better eventually at 2B you can move Black somewhere else on the diamond.

I dont see Eloy going anywhere, but if they could sell high on Burger this would be the time.

Ranked No. 95 overall on Pipeline.

Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 40 | Speed: 55 | Arm: 45 | Field: 45 | Overall: 55

He's untouchable in that no one wants him

Actually, putting aside the fact that no one likes the trade value site, you might be able to get BOTH Tyler Black and Robert Gasser (24.5 combined) for Burger (20.6) depending on how bad they want that bat and years of control and with the whole sellers market thing. We've gotten alot more than equal value on our trades so far, much more than the difference here.

I'm pretty damn sure we wouldn't say no to that.

Is Hahn drugging the Brewers FO first?

Well...someone has seemed to be drugging opposing FOs so far as we have gotten good value on trades to date.

You do kinda get those though, as literally every team that is trying to compete can justify adding pitching and there's only so many teams with pitching to sell, so getting deals done for pitching requires outbidding other teams. We also might have taken advantage of a few places where teams are avoiding 40 man roster jams or clearing out guys who are blocked.

Big difference from teams overpaying for a Dh.

The Sox got good value today, but not exceptional value.  And July usually leads to good value for the seller.
Just reading Law's writeups on the trades, Lee and both have stunted somewhat  this season.  Lee started trying to pull everything this year and  Nastrii's control problems haven't really improved.  That takes the luster off some.
There's a great opportunity to get a couple of major leaguers.

As for Burger, he has prolific power, and just a modest improvement in pitch selection would make him a fine DH.  And he can play a couple of positions if needed.   I don't see the need for a giveaway job here.

Yea and I just don’t see how a team looks at Eloy as some difference-making bat for a playoff push.  Even assuming he never gets hurt again, IMO he still hasn’t even established what he really is at the plate.

Now paired with unplayable defense and injury likelihood on top of that…I don’t know how that’s a “push in your chips” play.
