We have heard that he is not being traded but if Texas called and had an offer of Evan Carter (#6 mlb) and Owen White (#43 mlb)  plus something more say Mitch Bratt lhp and Marc Church rhp , what would you say?

I get everyone is in a trade frenzy but the deadline is not the time to trade Cease when only a handful of teams are involved.  If they decide to trade Cease (and I don't think they will) the off season is the time to do it when all the teams are involved.

I think the message of the last few days is that there is no better time to trade a pitcher than the trade deadline.

In the offseason, if teams need pitching, they have the free agent market. They have only trades right now, and that means there are only a few options.

The other side of the coin is in the offseason all the FAs will be dumped on the market including some very good ones so why give away your farm when you only have to pay money?

Right now some of the most needy teams are those with very deep farm systems (BAL, LAD, CIN etc).

As others have said all this repetitive Nightengale tweets of Cease not available probably means he's very available....for the right price.

It will prolly take no fewer than 3 MLB ready or almost MLB ready Top 100 prospects on the higher end of the top 100.

This. You also get the potential for desperation which doesn’t exist in the offseason. I’m not a big trade Cease guy, but if you can get two top 50 prospects with one of them being a blue chipper plus some additional depth you gotta do it.

Also, like 20 teams are in some form of contention. Most of those teams would have interest in Cease, even though a decent chunk of them probably don’t have the pieces. That doesn’t really change in December.

Bob doing his part to keep building the "trade at the last second" market for Cease and Bummer's trades.

IMO....they are gone.

Dude should be getting a check from the team at this point...lol.

Never understood why the Sox always share their intel with Nightengale. Why not give it to the more local Sox writers.

Jerry doesn't go to the same local Arizona breakfast place as the local writers.

I don’t see a scenario where the Sox contend next year and they’ll get more now then they’d get next deadline or off-season

you don’t know how this club looks in a year. If we’re in contention you cannot go out and get a Dylan Cease. Absolutely should not trade him unless someone blows you away with a one sided trade.

I disagree with getting more this deadline instead of the off season part but it doesn't matter.  They're not trading him.

Problem is, the Sox are very good at hoping to contend. They are very bad at actually trying to contend. I just can’t envision a scenario that doesn’t include the same half-assed attempt to fill holes while crossing their fingers for better injury luck. They are so bad at this.

Of course they aren't. It might be the worst run organization in baseball. Not at least exploring the possibility is extremely short-sighted. This will be a bad team next year.

Seller's market right now.

They will be able to choose from Ohtani, Stroman (no QO), likely Snell, Giolito, Urias, Eddie Rodriguez...Nola if the Phillies let him go.

Well here's the full list once November hits.

Starting pitcher: Carlos Carrasco, Mike Clevinger (mutual option), Alex Cobb (club option), , Jack Flaherty, Lucas Giolito, Sonny Gray, Andrew Heaney (opt-out), Kyle Hendricks (club option), Clayton Kershaw, Lance Lynn (club option), Kenta Maeda, Tyler Mahle, Sean Manaea (opt-out), Germán Márquez (club option), Wade Miley (mutual option), Frankie Montas, Jordan Montgomery, Charlie Morton (club option), Aaron Nola, Shohei Ohtani, Eduardo Rodriguez (opt-out), Hyun Jin Ryu, Max Scherzer (opt-out), Luis Severino, Blake Snell, Ross Stripling (opt-out), Marcus Stroman (opt-out), Noah Syndergaard, Julio Urías, Michael Wacha (club and player options), Alex Wood...

Have a feeling White Sox will end up with a couple from this list, like a Jake Odorizzi, Months or Luis Severino.

How are they in contention next year? What does that look like?
