bmags
I just don't trust at all the bulls to make a move like that and end up better off. Theyll trade for him and think he's their new core rather than a part of a paper clip trade.

Probably a ton of moving parts here There's been a bunch of articles suggesting it might take a 4 to 5 team deal to make the parts work. The Bulls would clear Lavine in this, and Beal could be bought out in the 2026-2027 season. Add in draft pick compensation and it accomplishes two goals for the Bulls. I agree with this - but Danny Ainge would make a deal like this, than figure out a way to get more for Beal a year from now. Maybe Bulls can do that but I doubt it. Have zero faith in AK or Reinsdorf owner franchised right now.
bmags
I'm also just in general, granted I don't watch nba right now, floored that Lavine was brought back to the bulls and it has been the best case scenario. He's played really well, he's been a good sport. And yet he is still apparently an absolute negative in the minds of every other NBA gm. I've seen so many borderline bad nba scorers still get passed around for decent hauls, but Lavine broke everyones back. The NBA found the guy they can't suffer to pay as a max. He's not 30% of the cap good is the problem. Fortunately, I don't think he's a negative value contract anymore like he has been since he signed the extension. Zach with two years left on his deal, and after having this nice season (if it continues and he remains healthy), I think is pretty easy to trade even if he's owed $100mil. They have to trade him, they can't roll with him. They screwed up too much everywhere else on the roster. Now you're almost wondering about what you need to add to get rid of Pat Williams's contract. Or the absurd extension they'll almost certainly give Giddey. Everything said about Getz is true of Karnisovas. This is the biggest idiot in professional sports. If they were operating under the old CBA, I think it'd be a lot different. But new rules make moving him difficult.

One of the most telling things that happened was when a massive story (like 10k words) came out tracing how the nuggets methodically built a champion featured and named so many people from their front office…and AK wasn’t mentioned once. It takes a truly incompetent person like Michael reinsdorf to go to one of the best front offices in the game and identify the one lazy, inconsequential person to lead the team.

Chisoxfn
This is huge for Lakers - get way younger which puts them in far better spot for when Bron retires.

Absolutely nasty. What? Why? I'm not going back to sleep. This is absurd. I need to talk s%*# on the internet. At least it's Sunday. Nothing about this deal makes sense for the Mavs...you trade a young superstar under contract for an old, injury prone guy? I really like AD. He's a Chicago guy that I think should've been a Bull. Mavs didn't even get picks. AD is a stud but injury-prone and over 30. Luka is a star, 25-years-old, he's gonna be great for a long time. It's BS man. Kyyle23
Making glass man AD the face of your franchise is crazy lol
bmags
It’s amazing how an nba team just believing they are a premier franchise that has to be premier just falls into these deal constantly. Like if you are the Mavs, and you say “we are trading Luka, best offers only”…you are telling me you doing get Rudy gobert like trade back at least? bmags
Among the craziest parts of this is it feels like the mavs were trying to limit their market to just LA

The Lakers had a first rounder in 2031 the Mavs could have insisted on. The Mavs gave up a 2nd rounder when the Lakers had those available. Had they looked elsewhere the Spurs have 9 first rounder picks that could be available for trades. I do like that people believed Shams was hacked as more likely than this being real. They have a reputation for getting them. So of course the mavs call them. They also have stars and not fake stars like lavine.

Rams and Chargers both in the playoffs as well.
