Tommy John is close to a Hall of Famer, but probably not. Dick Allen, no.

Based on numbers Dick should have been admitted years ago when he was still alive. Twice he's missed induction by a single vote, hopefully the third time is a charm for his family.

These committee votes are kind of a joke. It’s more about who is on the committee than the players themselves. I wish there was a one time meeting of a blue ribbon panel to decide yes or no on everyone under consideration, and either you get in then, or you are forever not considered. Stop playing with old men’s emotions—and their families too. More than anything, the Hall should be about getting guys in their 40’s in so they can enjoy it with their families and come back to Cooperstown each year.

Dick Allen obviously deserves to be in the Hall. Tommy John? Compared to today's starters he's Cy Young. Put.Him.In.The.Hall. Better put in a bunch of past stars cause only 3-4 guys from today's era will ever sniff the Hall. Ohtani and who else, lol. They ought to have a category in the Hall called the "Lift and Pull Hall of Famers." You get credit for HRs and strikeouts both.

I know you're trolling but:

There are 4 MVPs on the Dodgers that are all future Hall of Famers, including the top 3 of their lineup: Kershaw, Ohtani, Betts, Freeman

Scherzer, Greinke and Verlander are locks on the pitching side. Miguel Cabrera, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout waltz in.

But let's keep on going:

  • Altuve: Only thing that will hold him back is the 2017 scandal.
  • Posey: In
  • Machado, Harper, Lindor, Jose Ramirez: All can very easily keep up their current pace and make it in. Injuries could derail all of them.
  • Cardinals borderline trio of Goldschmidt, Arenado and Yadi. Of this group, I really only see Yadi making it, and solely off of his defensive rep.
  • Chris Sale might have locked it in with his Cy Young and Gold Glove this year. He was the 5th best pitcher of this era, but the injuries after 2018 and lack of personal hardware really hurt his trajectory.
  • Judge will depend on how he ages. He's one of those guys you can see aging like an old time slugger and eventually joining the 500+ club.

Soto definitely on track.

Probably Gerritt Cole as well.

Yordan Alvarez if he keeps it up.

JR Martinez Correa Bregman come up short.

Ahhh, idk how the hell I forgot about Soto.

Thought about Cole, but at his age I wavered.

I’m not sure Gerrit Cole is in.  He’s never won a Cy Young has he?  He’s been a good pitcher.  Not Hall of Fame.

Yes, Cole has won a Cy-last year. Couple 2nds too. On the Hall of Fame highway.

Compare to Pettite pre-steroids...who earned so much of his reputation in the post-season.

I would put Cole ahead of him, but obviously he needs to go for another five years at least.

225 wins will not get Greinke in unless a ton of starters in the 200-220 range get in before him. No way on Scherzer at 216 wins. And no way on Verlander at 260.

I guarantee they all get in on the first ballot.

Edit: In fact, guys like Greinke and Votto keep Buehrle and Abreu alive (via committee) by redefining the Hall's standards.

Greinke would bring a new appreciation of defense, which gives Buehrle a massive boost. Abreu's chances live on the possibility of the Hall considering his RoY and MVP alongside his Cuban career (and said career withholding him).

Neither likely gets in — and it would be via committee like Baines — but they have long, long shots.
