oldsox
This is the second year in a row that the Sox Top International pick is a third baseman. I can't remember the name of last year's top pick. I do remember that he was immediately in the team's Top 30 Prospect list, and I also know he didn't hit very well in the DSL. I believe he got more money than Cruz. How does Cruz compare to that guy? Is he (2024 pick) still in the organization?

BamaDoc
I actually went back and had to read this part again "It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the decision makers look to acquire more international funds as well, rather than trading what they have left." Spending over would definitely represent a change in philosophy. I just don't want to see the time limit expire and not have spent or traded our allotment. Look, as long as it gets used, I am going to feel better than letting it expire. It's typically pretty late to have players to spend it on, unless older Cubans pop up, but with the Sasaki stuff going on, who knows how this reverberates. Timmy U
2 hours ago, Squirmin' for Yermin said: Eduardo Herrera or something Yep. He did not have a good first season. I don't think the Sox are gonna bring him stateside this year, which would be a terrible sign. Herrera was a typical Sox International: R/R mature physically, power over hit, defensive questions as to whether he'll stick at 3rd. Cruz is rail-thin with much more projection left, hit over power, and supposedly a very good defender. But he's still a Paddy guy and Keller sounded a little skeptical in his presser. We'll see.

May not lead to anything, but the complete passiveness under Paddy was maddening.

Not until this minute did I look at Cruz as a Paddy guy. But he is. Probably a very bad omen.

I'd just think Cruz should think about progressing, or he may not get the requisite 6 years to fade that previous signings have gotten. Y2Jimmy0
Very few from last years international class are coming stateside. Jurdrick Profar is and Yhoiker Fajardo was going to prior to being traded.

Finally a brother (of a famous MLB player) who worked out.. now we can sign Jurickson for a "bargain basement" 5/$50 million deal since it's doubtful Preller will be addeal now...NOT! We already have Benintendi's bad deal firmly ensconced in that spot. Edited January 19 by caulfield12

Good sign Fajardo was well-scouted by other organizations...$600k for Profar, $1.8 million probably wasted on Eduardo Cabrera, $400k on Yhoiker. In fact, I just changed avatar to a Yhoiker pic in order to guarantee his MLB ascension, mostly due to his cool photo.
